We were on Bowen for a bachelorette, and booked side-by-side pedicures, followed by consecutive facials on August 10, 2012. We spent $ 400 between us, including a tip, which, regrettably, I paid in advance of the facials. We did not, in my view, receive good service or value for the money. The facial($ 82) was advertised as being 75 minutes in length. Mine was 30 minutes long, and the bride-to-be’s was 55 minutes, without explanation. It felt rushed, as, indeed, it was. It was supposed to include«extractions,» but that was not offered or performed. I have not had any success in contacting the owner, who administered one of the pedicures and did both facials, despite having left messages and attended the spa to discuss my concerns. They used KY Personal Lubricant to do the arm and leg massage — the bottle was left sitting on the counter after, with just the label turned to the wall. One of the pedicure«estheticians» had less than 2 months of on-the-job experience, and no formal training. The nails were not shaped properly, and the finished product was splotchy. We paid full price($ 75) for her services. She was, however, very friendly and nice. The spa advertised a complimentary specialty chocolate drink from the nearby organic chocolatier, but it was not offered or provided. The experience was very disorganized from the time we entered the spa: we waited a long time to be acknowledged, then had to wait while the room was prepared for our pedicures. There was a considerable delay while they prepared the one treatment room for our facials thereafter, with both estheticians unsuccessfully trying to find the table coverings before settling on covering the table with beach towels. The spa is clearly not equipped to do ‘side-by-side pedi’s’ — one was performed on the facial table from a seated position with knees bent, and feet in a bucket, which was uncomfortable and unprofessional. They called us at noon to reschedule our 1:00 appointments for 2:30, which necessarily entailed rescheduling the subsequent facial appointments for later in the day. Overall, it was very disappointing — we paid a lot of money, and received poor quality service. I feel that we were deprived of an experience, not just ripped off financially. Their failure to return my phone calls has been a further disappointment.
