Good — beautiful Douglas Fir wood slab — delivered to Vancouver at no charge. — great price at around $ 2000. Bad — Communication: He didn’t listen to to my wants. So the end result wasn’t completely custom. Light coloured table — check. 3x5ft size — check. Water based, low VOC finish — check. Bark on — nope. Rock solid foundation — nope. I am still waiting on the email I sent him regarding these issues a week ago. There have been numerous emails that I sent him with questions that have yet to be answered. — Base/legs: It all starts with a strong foundation. The table was awesome, but the legs were not secure. My table wobbled. Over time, the screws will get loose and the slab will unsecure itself from the legs. This is not good if it lands on you. I asked for 2 square legs. I got u-shaped legs. There are 4 holes per base. Only 2 screws were fastened into each leg with the exception of one, which had 3. Some screws were crooked and not screwed all the way in. Result is a wobbly table. Additionally, the legs have rust. — shipped in the back of his truck open to the elements. I’m thankful it wasn’t raining on delivery day. The bottom of the legs were all scratched up. — you will need yourself or someone to help him carry it to your room, if you are not able to lift heavy. Summary: beautiful wood slab and sub-par foundation. He’s a skilled carpenter, not a metal worker. I recommend you get him to finish a wood slab, and get someone else to fabricate and install the legs/joinery for you.
