Very polite and welcoming staff! Though I personally believe you will feel more comfortable if you are able to understand/converse in Chinese at this restaurant. The food portions were reasonable(All my friends & I were beyond satisfied with the portions as we were full after & some could not even finish their meal). I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup and the total was $ 9.25. Essentially, in my opinion, the taste is nothing special(I’ve only tasted the hot pots and the noodle soup I mentioned earlier) but considering the given portions and price comparison, it’s worth trying out! Also, I’d like to add that they have quite a selection of drinks and are located in a convenient area(Within Crystal Mall: On the sides).

I really hate the service here… Like really hate. There’s been many times that the server doesn’t even understand what I am asking. I don’t know why they work there if they can’t speak Canada’s MAIN language. It’s so frustrating! The food is decent which is why I come back. The service and parking is not appealing at all.

This place is okay! The service here really sucks tho! And it takes forever! It only takes about 20 mins for the food to come out! And when you walk in the door it only takes about 10 mins for them to notice you and actually seat you. It only takes them about 15 mins to bring out some water or tea… Some of the soup dishes they have are good! But it’s super small. Even the soup itself was not very much and their bowl of rice is the size of a sauce dish. Not to mention when she took our orders it seemed like we were annoying her when I asked for water. Very rude I would say. I will only come back when I reeaaalllly need too. Like when all restaurants are closed and there’s no where else to eat!

Affordable and great portion sizes. Their hot pots are always super hot when served and they include everything that is stated on their menu and includes items pictured of the pot in the menu. The seafood pot for example comes with prawns and cuttlefish every time. I always order the kimchi hot pot as it’s more flavorful. Each pot that has bean thread also comes with a complementary bowl of rice and dipping sauce for your items. They also offer a selection of bubble tea drinks and side dishes. They also offer other noodles and rice options for those of you that want to come with friends but not necessary want to eat such a steamy hot pot. I was afraid to order bubble tea at first because I didn’t want to be disappointed. However I tried their passion fruit green tea and it was comparable to bubble world but a little less sweet and the pearls were a bit overcooked. In my opinion their bubbles are not bad as they are sweet unlike some places that are tasteless. The atmosphere there is quite busy usually and it takes a longer wait if you have more than a group of two. This place is great for a quick bite any time of year

Don’t really feel welcomed here. Hot and humid atmosphere. Price went up dramatically

This review is only about the Korean style tofu hot pot which has pork, seafood, egg, tofu and glass noodles. Non-existent service: ended up walking to the counter to place my order. No tea refills but I saw a heated pot in the corner. If I’m supposed to get my own refills, make a visible sign. Décor has improved with new wood-styled paneling and a corralling area by the door. Very strange music choices: either classical or very scratchy old asian music. Price has increased from 5.95 to 7.50 maybe to account for the bigger hot pot bowl. Too bad they countered that with an extra pound of glass noodles and less of the actual ingredients. I counted 1 tough mussel, 2 calamari rings, about 5 thinly shaved pork slices which tasted more like beef, a couple small Napa cabbage bits and the most laughably: the tofu and egg. Half my egg disappeared on its way from the shell to the bowl or it came from a midget chicken. The beautiful silken tofu that this tofu hot pot joint used to be renown for was now 4 cubes of ALMOST silken tofu. Time to change your tofu hot pot sign. Summary: a more modern look can’t save a food establishment if it has subpar food quality and no service to back it up. Used to come here often but not again.

Great little place! I go here almost every weekday for lunch. I never get bored of the BBQ pork OR spicy Beef on rice dish. They taste delicious and I replace the tofu with extra veggies. The serving size is very filling for the price of $ 10 or so with tip. Both of these dishes come with miso soup, 2 random veggies, meat, tofu, an egg, and rice. Everything tastes fresh and that makes sense being in such close proximity to the market. Sometimes the meat portion is slightly small, but other times its slightly extra, so it kind of evens out, but it’s not consistent. The spicy beef soup is well flavoured, filling, and has nice tender cuts of stewing beef. The staff are very friendly and always remember what I order. Sometimes it can get very busy there at noon, so be prepared for a short wait. Even if there is a line, it always moves quickly. The décor is ok and clean but nothing inspiring. The bathroom is surprisingly nice for a small place. They have highchairs for children. New customers are often confused as they wait for their bill. At this place its normal to just go up and pay. I find the music can get annoying after hearing the same songs over and over every day, especially the Chinese punk songs, and what sounds like Japanese cartoon music. For some reason they sometimes leave one or two doors wide open, even during cold or rainy days. I’m not really sure why, but it can make your eat-in uncomfortable, especially if you sit by the door. The servers are very sweet, and say ‘thank you’ both before and after they hand you the bill. I recommend it!

We visited this restaurant last night and the significant other ordered seafood hotpot. This deep unattractive steel bowl arrived with udon noodles with a ton of pork. She inquired to the waitress if it was in fact what she ordered. The waitress took her spoon and stirred through the entire bowl saying — yeah, there’s seafood but we only saw one kalamari ring, one mussel and a ton of pork(why would you put pork in a dish that you are selling labelled as seafood???). So there ended up not being any shrimp in the dish — the waitress took it to the kitchen. Minutes later, she brought it back to us and my other half stirred the bowl again. We found out there was 2 small shrimps added and they took away ½ of the pork! What a mess. Untruthful advertising, and meagre portions. However, my chicken nuggets and rice was OK. Just enough to get me full.

We ordered the fried fish rice combo and chicken nuggets rice combo. They come with 2 veggie dishes, spicy tofu and a fried egg. all in a cute japanese bowl. The rice combo also came with a small bowl of plain miso soup. Everything was very good especially at $ 7.75 each. We have nothing to complain about. We will definitely come back.

This place is great! The best are the rice combo meals. Such a good deal for a balanced delicious meal. I prefer this over the hot pot. The flavors are great.

Han Ju is situated outside of Crystal Mall. They specialize in mini hotpots and rice dishes. This place is always packed with people, and for good reason! If you’re deciding what to get, I’ll make it easy for you, get the KIMCHI&BBQRICE!!! This dish was absolutely superb! I was very impressed to say the least. VERY. Everything about it. The flavours, the portion size, and variety, were all very well executed. Seeing how small their hot pots are, I was expecting the rice dishes to be the same. Boy was I wrong! This thing was massive!

Came here to check out their lunch special. Parking is available underneath in that circular mess of a parking lot(Crystal Mall). The inside is fairly beaten up and crappy, which means it’s the real deal. Another good sign is the large number of Korean student-types eating here. The combos are no-frills, and straight up cheap comfort food. A hot pot can be had for $ 6 – 7, which consists of some kind of flavoured broth/soup(spiciness can be adjusted), and a bowl of rice. The food is beautifully served on a cafeteria-style tray. Fit for a king. The food tastes quite home-cooked, with nice pieces of tofu and meat. Korean comfort food is awesome. What more can I say.

My husband loves this place and I’m becoming a fan too. Seafood hot pot is great, but expect to wait 10 – 15 for it to cool down or you’ll burn your tongue! BBQ set is WONDERFUL! Only downside is that it’s small. Very crowded and noisy is you come during dinner or lunch.

If you are coming here for the service, you are in for the wrong place. This little Chinese and Korean fusion hot pot restaurant is famous for their comfort food — hot pot or their minced pork over rice, not their service. Like any day, let’s just take yesterday as an example, it was a rainy and gloomy day in Vancouver and I was craving some spicy hot food after work. Naturally, Han Ju came into mind, cheap food, good portion size and most importantly, their tofu pot is always steamy hot. I came in in the afternoon, conveniently past the lunch rush hour and scored myself a nice two seaters at the corner with only a table or two occupied in the restaurant. A cup of tea came promptly and I quickly ordered my favorite: kimchi tofu hotpot, medium spicy today since I was freezing. The lady brought my food approx. after 5 – 10 minutes(lost count while checking in on Unilocal lol). Umm. yum, a hot pot full of spicy goodness: kimchi, pork slices, green bean noodle, mussel, squid and a hard boiled egg, and of course a small bowl of rice on the side. I quickly indulged into it, took a sip of the spicy soup, and found myself sweating after just few minutes of eating. Don’t get me wrong, it was not really that spicy, I was just super excited having a warm and hearty meal in a Friday afternoon. I have always been a slow eater, and a nicely raised girl who always finish her food, so my late lunch ended up lasting 30 minutes or so. Throughout the meal, there was no rush, and there was always someone came by to fill up my tea. I love non-rush hour time of the day. After taking in the last sip of the soup, I went straight to the counter to pay(in cash of course! It’s Crystal Mall after all), had an experience of waiting a while to get the bill so just opted for the easy way, no biggie i’m no high maintenance. Tipped and off I go with a full and satisfied tummy.

possibly a 4 to those who appreciate this kind of QSR asian style, for sure you can’t beat the value here for all of their core entrees under $ 7! Can see why this place gets packed. Ordered the minced pork, tofu, egg, and veggies over rice; like i said, one can prob. get this in Richmond, dime a dozen. It’s clean, and friendly staff, so will return if i’m in the mood for it and in the area. free parking in Crystal Mall.

best place to go for a guaranteed hot and spicy hot pot that will make you sweat any time of the year. :) i love going most when it’s chilly season. their soups warm me up just right and never disappoints. for any of their hot pots, you have the choice of no spicy, medium spicy, or hot spicy. i get the hot spicy version all the time and i love it!

I would consider this ONE level up from a lazy student cooking Instant Ramen at home. The Menu is mostly of Individual sized Tofu Hot Pot but do not get this confused with Soon Tofu. This is slightly different which I would say it is a cousin of Soon Tofu. Seafood Mini Hot Pot($ 6.95) is a typical Korean bargain Meal that comes with Mostly your choice of Spiciness for the Broth. This Hot Pot consists mostly of Soup while ingredients of some Glass Vermicelli, Squid, Mussels, Shrimp, and a couple Bricks of Soft Tofu. It’s not as overwhelmingly Tofu as Soon Tofu which is the biggest difference. Banchan Appetizers are extra charge(–0.5 Star) here which I wasn’t hankering for anyways but my Mild Spiciness Broth taste weirdly like Nongshim brand Instant Ramen flavouring. Maybe you can ask the Chinese speaking waitresses for me next time?

$ 6.95 + tax for a seafood mini hot pot? I’m in! The amount you pay is definitely worth what you get. My seafood hot pot came with vermicelli noodles, tofu, 2 shrimps, 2 pieces of squid, 1 mussel and green onions.(Yes, I counted everything) Oh, the hot pot comes with a bowl of rice as well. For the little side dishes I tried pig’s ears and spicey cucumbers. Just don’t go for the atmosphere. I pretty much ate and left right away. The service didn’t stand out, but they were nice. Everything satisfied me and I wouldn’t mind going back if I wanted to get a quick and warm meal.

Is it weird that some of my favourite Asian restaurants in the greater Vancouver area are found in(Asian) malls? Crystal Mall has one of the best food courts in terms of Asian cuisine(besides Aberdeen Center in Richmond). Though Han Ju isn’t technically in the food court I absolutely LOVE this place! Fast service, dirt cheap prices, and(most importantly) delicious noodle soups! The KOREAN-STYLENOODLEPOTS with kimchi(either udon or glass noodle, depending on my mood) are friggin’ A-MAZ-ING( ). I get them every time I come. The kimchi adds a nice hot-and-sour-ness and are cooked in the broth long enough that the flavour really penetrates the soup. It’s all about the broth for me — I drink every single drop and would gladly take the thirst(and hypertension) it eventually causes. The pots also come with tofu, egg, pork slices(yum-yum!), shrimp, squid, and mussel(though the last three are often overcooked). I’ve also had the sesame-oil chicken noodle soup. This was good too, but doesn’t quite compare to the incredible Korean-style pots. The kimchi &KOREAN-STYLEBBQPORK with rice( ) is another favourite. The pork is marinated perfectly and is soooo flavourful(this applies to the pork in the noodle pots as well). I like the spicy tofu and cabbage that comes with it too. They also have a number of Taiwanese appetizers(like marinated pig ear, seaweed, spicy tofu, ) for $ 1.75−2.5. My favourite is the SEAWEED( ) — slightly slimy and very crunchy soft! I live in San Francisco now, but every time I go back to Vancouver(which, luckily for me, is quite frequently) I gots to get me some Han Ju! This is my kind of comfort food. I’m craving some now just writing about it…
