The service I had was excellent but the food was very, very overpriced! I was shocked as other reviewers said the portions were decent but paying ten dollars for a shallow dish of chickpeas is way too much.

I’ve grabbed lunch here a few times. I like the Veggie naan-wich, especially for the $ 7 take-out special(not just for students). The flavours are great, the spice is manageable(for my pathetic palette), and the service is friendly. Highly recommended. I’d like to try some other food when I have more time on campus.

Lunch is a good deal, 7 $ for rice bowl. However, the owner /manager, the Indian lady is kind of rude when she knows that we only order 2 rice bowls, no drinks and no buffet. She gave us a rude face while we pay. Definitely no coming back anymore.

3.5 stars! Ordered the butter chicken bowl, chana masala bowl and veggie paneer naan-wich $ 7 «student specials» for take-out. Not a SFU student? No worries, these specials are«created with students in mind but available for all, enjoy these delicious Indian snacks and small meals any time of day.» These are not small meals, mind you! For two hungry people, it was almost uncomfortably filling — this is coming with someone with a bottom-less stomach! The butter chicken sauce was a little too runny for my taste, but it was still decent. The rice bowls are good value as it comes with a humongous bowl of basmati rice. Th veggie naan-wich was the surprising winner of the trio — super flavourful grilled veggies stuffed between two pieces of naan. Tasty, but a bit messy to eat. Too bad the lunch buffet $ 12.00 is not available on the weekends, though.

Dropped by this place for lunch when my SFU friend had a group meeting. Since it was during the Reading Break, there was barely anyone there which was quite nice. The waitress was pretty friendly and was patient enough to wait for us to look through the menu thoroughly like the true clueless tourist I was. My friend said their butter chicken was delicious so of course I had to bite. We shared the butter chicken with naan between the two of us and ordered a chicken soup as well. Dang, the chicken soup was served in a huge bowl with some naan and it was pipping hot. All the ingredients were pretty fresh and my taste buds loved the Indian style chicken soup. Their naan was thinner than I’m used to back home but it was crunchy on the outside and chewy soft on the inside. Delicious and it was perfectly proportioned. We couldn’t finish the naan and packed it since we got so full from the chicken soup and the naan that came with it. Their butter chicken was great! I’ve never had butter chicken but the sauce was so yummy and it wasn’t overtly spicy. I love spicy food but some Indian dishes can be so spicy that I can’t even taste the other herbs. This wasn’t the case and it was so fragrant. The texture of the chicken was moist and soft too and along with the fragrant sauce, it made my stomach very, very happy. I only wish they had more chicken chunks in the butter chicken, but I was very full from what the provided already. I just really liked their chicken’s texture! Wow. Everything flowed together well and the service was good. I’ll be back if I ever come to SFU Burnaby campus again.

Best Indian food around. Quick, friendly service and wonderful allergy awareness. Plenty of gluten & dairy free options. I can recommend from experience: vindaloo, jalfrezi, aloo gobo, chicken palak, Chana masala.

I’ve eaten here a few times, usually for their buffet lunch or the naanwich, but the other night I had dinner and beers with a few friends and the food was fantastic as always! We started with something I missed the name of(I showed up late), but the cold dip with the one appetizer was to die for! I had a couple of samosas, paneer stuffed naan and a couple bites of everyone else’s dishes(lamb curry, endless delicious things.) I love this place for a quick authentic meal and while the service can be a little slow sometimes(even when the place is dead quiet) it’s worth the trip up the mountain!

To say this is the worst food around would be a lie. To say this is the best food around would be a lie. Its definitely somewhere in the middle! The food is fresh, and the curries are OK. I went for a lunch time buffet so it was good. I’m not going to go out on a limb here and say that this place was the end all of Indian foods, but for a place at a university its ok.

Freshly prepared Indian buffet on campus! Came here a few times for lunch and was always happy with their buffet bar although I can’t seem to eat more than a plate everytime. But the different varieties are what I ask for! Can’t remember the name of each dish but the one with little cheese cubes was very tasty, not too cheesy at all! Aside from all hot varieties that were great, I was particularly intrigued by the rice pudding. It is like a yogurt texture, but it’s sweet and has rice in it hence the name. Before I could finalize my decision on whether I liked it or not, I finished it. This probably meant I liked the rice pudding!

Absolutely the worst Indian food I have paid for. We thought that the first time we went there may have been a new cook or something(it was that bad) so we went back when my wife’s mom was in town. What a bad move, even the basics(like plates without old food stuck to them) aren’t being taken care of. It’s a shame, I really want to support business up here in the neighborhood, but this place is truly horrendous. We ordered an assortment of dishes and by the time the last one arrived we were actually all laughing at how bad it was. Avoid this establishment, or order an appetizer first and see for yourself how awful it is before committing to a full order.

Probably some of the best food on Burnaby Mountain. I say this mostly based on hearsay. I haven’t eaten everywhere, because I’m vegan and I just can’t, but Himalayan Peak serves delicious Indian food. The menu is kind of cheesy — the descriptions of the food are silly — but the food is delicious. Prices are okay, especially considering the premium that many businesses add to their prices as soon as you get up the mountain and can’t escape.

I would recommend this place to anyone! The staff are wonderful, the food is unreal and the prices are great too. Try the butter chicken and the cocktails are all really good, but try an «Arranged Marriage» this one is my fav. They also offer some fusion foods like the naan pizza. My parents live near by so we come here for dinner quite a bit. We have been eating here for the past 4 years and it just keeps getting better. This is more than just a lunch buffet restaurant.

I work near SFU and it’s always a treat for my co-workers and I to go have some Indian buffet for lunch. The buffet offers a couple options but it’s quite small and you’ll be disappointed if you think you’re getting a full spread. I would think of it more like a self-serve all you can eat counter of a couple entrees. For $ 12 and refillable pop($ 2 approx) you can definitely get your money’s worth and I have yet to have a bad dish! I’ve even had the fish curry! I think this place is all about expectations and for what you’re paying and where it is you can’t really go wrong if you’re craving something other than a burger.

For an indian food place up at SFU, this place is pretty damn good. They have daily buffets which are a great value($ 10 for all you can eat!!!). The food tastes authentic with lots of flavor and spice — truly indian. The service is pretty good too, with most servers being university students trying to earn some money whilst attending SFU. It’s great for groups as well, because its quite large with a good number of tables. Or if you’re by yourself on a lunch break, they have bar stools lining the windows where you can sit, eat, and study.
