Kiku Sushi

I have never eaten here but have ordered delivery many times! it’s very decent & reasonable pricing so I would love to try it at the actual restaurant. the rolls are kind of cheap as they fall apart easily. I don’t like that they don’t have debit card service for delivery & that you give them your credit card info on the phone. overall it’s pretty good as its close to my house so delivery is fast & convenient.

Very disappointed as they do not accept debit cards as a method of payment when requesting delivery service. I really hope they change that soon. Not all people have credit cards, and not everyone has cash on them at all times. Again, very disappointed.

I came to this restaurant for lunch today with my son. The place is neat and the table ms have lots f privacy. We ordered the lunch special which came with sushi, salad, yakisoba. Nothing too extraordinary and the taste was ok. I didn’t like the salad sauce because I can’t taste it. The yakisoba was too soft too. However the place was very busy even customer lining up.

For appetizer, get the beef tataki if you like your meat raw once in a while or sometimes. You will not regret it. The other appetizers pale in comparison. I never had it before I came to Kiku. Now I think this will be one of my top choices at a Japanese restaurant. Ended up ordering a second plate.
Though Kiku is a small, privately-​owned restaurant, it’s got a good selection of beers. We ordered a Sapporo first, rinsed the food down with a large Asahi, and finished with a Kokanee.
I’m giving a bonus star for a clean and fully-​stocked washroom. It’s sort of rare to see that at small restaurants, especially when said restaurant is close to Metrotown.

Came on a Friday night and they were decently busy. Me and my husband ordered a beef teriyaki and a nabeyaki udon soup. My husband got his udon first and it was a let down. The broth was way too salty and the chicken inside were really dry. Next up was the beef teriyaki. This dish came 30 minutes after my husbands udon so when I started eating, he was already finished. Although the dish tasted OK. It was definitely not worth the wait not to mention how hungry I was. This was a terrible experience.
Totally not recommending this place. The only thing that made this review 2 stars is the service. I guess the waitresses noticed that I was getting impatient with the wait on my beef teriyaki so they Offered to refill my tea several times and apologized when it came.

One of my favourite places for sushi. I used to go here frequently. Prices are a bit higher than elsewhere but the quality is great. If you’re here do yourself a favour and order the winter California rolls — they’re amazing and this is the only place that makes them.

I was thinking of ordering delivery since it’s been a long day and I just wanted to stay at home. I searched Burnaby delivery and found Kiku. I noticed that on their website they have an area circled out. I am guessing it is the location that they would deliver. Where I live is unclear on the map. So I thought I would give them a call to confirm if they are able to deliver to me or not. I called them, gave them my address and asked if they could deliver to me. They said they can deliver to me and told me to order online.
After deciding what to eat on their website, and inputted my address to make an account. The website said that «Sorry unable to deliver to that address». I was in shock, I called them to asked about it and all they said was that they couldn’t do anything about it. What?! I don’t understand if the staffs there doesn’t know how to use a map to search out what area they deliver or what it is. But this kind of mistake is what drive customers away from your restaurant.
I will not try to order from here again.

Sigh. I should know better. Out of town six months, forgot which sushi place nearby gives me brown salmon sashimi, and of course, it’s this place. Threw out half my meal.

I was here lastnight and the food was good I would say. Not the –best– sushi out there but I’ll be back since the food was good and service was ok too, plus it’s right by my place so pretty convenient that way!

I come here every week for their House combo and their spider roll. The price is reasonable and the portion is decent. However the consistency of the quality varies so sometimes we get a bigger sized sushi roll and sometimes we get a smaller sized sushi roll. Overall the quality is okay and great for casual outing. The service is very good, very attentive. Although I wish there are more variety of rolls because I technically tried them all.

Fresh sashimi, delicious roll sushi and decent kitchen foods. A bit pricy for some dishes but quality is good. Good Japanese restaurant in Metrotown area.

Very terrible experience !
We ordered tiger roll that no flavor. Also, we had spider roll that looked so scare. One piece is big, one is small and other are in difference size for one roll. It doesn’t have any Crispy meat. Salmon belly is so salty 。…

Delicious! Great service, lots of tea and low sodium soy sauce.
I ordered yam tempura roll, negitoro roll and cucumber avo roll. All very fresh and good quality ingreds.

Lack of waitress took 15 mins get a tea. Took 15 mins to get a bill

We went here for the first time and we practically ordered the whole menu!
Salmon skin, prawn tempura, gyoza, two different kinds of fancy rolls that were amazing!

3 stars. Sushi rolls are decent but wouldn’t say the best I’ve had. Prices on the other hand are very affordable and for $ 8 you get a choice of 3rolls and miso soup on lunch menu.

This used to be my goto sushi joint until management changed. The food and service quality has gone downhill but the pricing has remained unchanged. Ingredients seem to be of lesser quality and the service is not as friendly (seems emotionless and rude).
Tip: Kiku will reimburse customers for their parking fee in the plaza. Just show them your ticket.

Service here is alright. I was seated promptly but it took me a while to flag down the waitress to take my order. The waitress who took my order was emotionless and cold, however another waitress came back to check up on me was nice.
However, the food was really a dissapointment. It may be due to the fact that they changed management, because Kiku is now run by Cantonese people.
Winter California Roll

This was the only reason that compelled me to go to Kiku Sushi haha. On Urbanspoon, Unilocal and foursquare everyone was raving about this roll! The winter california roll is topped with a scallops and a sweet mayo sauce that is then torched.
This was definitely one of those gimmicky foods where the presentation was better than the actual taste. The Japanese mayo itself was tangy and sweet and had charred flavour to it, having being torched, however the flavours didn’t mesh well with the california roll.
In Japanese restaurants, there are usually two kinds of imitation crab meat. One of a firmer variety and another of a mushier, creamier variety. Kiku’s imitation crab meat was of the latter variety. I felt that it could have worked better if the crab meat was of the firmer variety, to add some contrast, because the mayo on top just made the roll too mushy.

–Rice was overly dense, and chewy
–Seaweed was damp chewy, tough
This combination made all the rolls really tough and chewy, couldn’t really enjoy the fillings
I was surprised to find the salmon rolls extremely hard to chew, I tried a few more pieces and they were equally as tough. When I unrolled the last one I found it was made of three flat end pieces full of sinew, the parts that are usually discarded (photo on request) or cooked for BC rolls. You couldn’t tell from the top because of the large dollop of siracha sauce
The BC roll filling was unremarkable, mostly skin, no meat
The spicy tuna was the best out of all, although still chopped, there were no traces of sinew
I was excited to try Kiku given its rating and proximity to work but was quite disappointed. Location is good for the surrounding office buildings but their food and service need work. Its edible but I wouldn’t come back.
