Wow! What a pleasant surprise! Super friendly lovely staff, good, high quality delicious food— at super awesome pricing. Probably the best value for really good quality I’ve ever had. $ 55 tab for 3 people for an indulgent dinner! We will be back!

This is really a great spot — and so close to Home. Beats Samurai sushi in Vancouver easily. Wide selection, yummy tempura, fresh and inspiring rolls. Love it. We go back weekly!

There are a few sushi establishments I have been to in Burnaby in the past years but none are on par with my regular Vancouver sushi houses. Read a few reviews for Sushi UOmo and as a review mentioned they had sushi pizza, I had to try it. I was very pleasantly surprised to see one of the chefs, Sam, from Sushiyama(my regular sushi stop in Van) working there. Not sure when he started working here but very happy he is, as he brought over sushi pizza from Sushiyama. It was pretty much the exact same item in both taste and presentation. Plenty of parking, friendly staff and great sushi for the price… of course I will be returning and very happy to find this place in Burnaby.

One of the best sushi places around! Great value for the quality and quantity of food. They have a large selection of special rolls but their DX bento is the best! There’s sashimi and a spicy roll with assorted fish inside as well as tempura and ebi sunomono but only for around $ 15! Their rolls are also a good price and not filled with rice with plenty of filling. Very similar menu to Sushiyama but a little better in quality.

Well thank heaven for this location as Yo Sushi was temporarily closed due to change in management. After a long day out working, I took my mom out for dinner and she wanted Japanese food. Yo Sushi was not there, so we decided to give this nearby venue a try. We went on a Saturday night and the place was full capacity. We did get seated and the wait was not painfully long. We ordered our food and the sushi and sashimi arrived beautifully presented. My mother also had tempura prawns and they looked so plump and juicy(I can’t have those as I am gluten free). The quality of the sushi rolls and sashimi were excellent, very fresh, orange salmon flesh. They also provided gluten-free soy sauce, an essential every Japanese restaurant should have. Their menu items are reasonably priced, good value.

Solid sushi joint in the area but a bit of a mixed bag. I had really fresh chopped scallop nigiri but the toro was a littly fishy and only ‘alright.’ Overall big portions and I was so full! Good bang for the buck.

This was the last of the 3 on the block(ish) that I tried and probably my favourite so far. The sushi here isn’t particularly refined, but the rice was seasoned well and wasn’t mushy, which is what happened at Yo sushi and Kazu, and it tasted good. It was also really cheap(they did have signs saying their prices were about to go up). We asked for pan fried gyoza instead of deep fried, and when they brought out a deep fried order, the waitress realized the mistake and replaced it with a new order of pan fried ones while letting us keep the first plate. They also brought out strawberry and banana appetizers for the kids at the table as a treat. Portions are generous, taste overall was quite good, and service was very friendly. They’re not competing with high end sushi, but they kill it for everyday sushi.

Excellent sushi!!! Especially the nigiri, super fresh and not loaded with rice. All there food is amazing my fave would have to be the amaebi nigiri and spicy tuna roll. There bento boxes are a great deal if you like variety. The only reason why I gave them a 4 is because the customer service really lacks. Most of the time the girls seem so rude and annoyed.

Compared to the sushi places in this area. This place has the largest selection and for a great price. You get more than what you normally pay for compared to other places. Beautiful presentation

short version: I think I found a new spot for some good variety of sushi at decent prices! The tempura was fried really nicely, I liked their okonomiyaki(seafood pancake), salmon sashimi was super tasty. They had so many special rolls on there, but we tried the volcano roll, which had a sweet sauce and it was a bit spicy… was really good! Sunomono needed to be more vinegar-y, and they servers were pretty poor at cleaning up the table. We had lots of assorted dishes, but they only took away enough stuff to set down the new dish(even though 75% of the dishes were empty). Would come back again to try their special rolls and a few other things. === I really have to start giving new sushi places a chance, rather than go to my usual spots. This place seems to be a touch pricier than Sushi California, but below the likes of Sushi Nanaimo /Sushiholic. The special rolls were around $ 5 – 7, lots of appies for $ 4, and everything else was decently priced. The variety was good, and I’m itching to go back to try more things! There were a few things which I didn’t really care for, but overall, there are several things I would come back for. They start you off with complimentary miso soup, but between 4 people, we ordered: — Ebi sunomoni(the vinegar seemed too weak, needed more, or maybe don’t dilute it.) — tako wasabi(raw octopus mixed with wasabi. Was OK) — Deep fried gyoza(good!) — assorted tempura(one of the big favorites — don’t know what it is about the batter, but it was so light and really crispy) — agedashi tofu(another great fried dish) — gomae(this was really dry, didn’t like it) — spicy salmon sashimi(only 6.50, you get a decent portion, and I feel like its one of the better spicy sashimi I’ve tasted) — okonomiyaki, seafood pancake(only $ 7! You get a seafood pancake with the bonito, and all the dressings drizzled on top. Delicious, I’d come back here for it) — mango roll — salmon and avocado topped with mango(this was just OK for me, wasn’t that interesting, and it was just a big chunk of mango on top. Bit odd to eat) — Volcano roll — fried tempura with crab, avocado, tuna and tobiko, mayo and a sweet /spicy sauce(another favorite, we devoured this thing!) I think that’s it. There were other things I would have wanted to try(raw oysters, sushi pizza, nabeyaki udon, harbor tower, aburi sushi combo, garlic tai, and a few other special rolls. I’d give this place a 4, but the service was pretty poor last night. It wasn’t very busy, but our table was cluttered with empty plates and dishes, and 4 bowls full of vinegar. They only took away enough dishes to set down the next item coming up. Aside from that, we sat there for about another hour chatting(lots of big empty tables around), but our table was just covered with dishes. Anyway, hope my next visit is better!

Good Japanese restaurant in Burnaby Heights for an inexpensive, decent-quality meal. Fellow Unilocalers were right – the service is very friendly and the portion sizes are good. My mom and I came for lunch on a Sunday around 1:30pm and we were seated right away. Once we ordered, our dishes came to us in record time – very appreciated because I was hungry! We ordered the fresh oysters, sushi pizza, and sashimi salad. The fresh oysters were yummy and served in a soy-green onion sauce. The sushi pizza was delicious – deep-fried rice as the crust with large pieces of tuna and salmon sashimi, crab meat, and tobiko on top. This can easily be shared between 2 – 3 people(6 pieces total, 3 of each fish). The sashimi salad came with lots of sashimi pieces, but I found the dressing to be a bit lacking in flavour. I’m not sure if I would order that again. That being said, I am excited to try the rest of their menu, particularly their toro sashimi and special rolls. We’ll definitely come back!

I am a sushi lover and almost always have sushi when I step out for food. Vancouver has many sushi places that have cheap yet great sushi along the lines of this place. But most of those places have incredibly impersonal servers or staff. This was the only place which had best of both! Great taste, really fresh and I was won over by their friendly staff =) Lots of vegetarian options, I loved the yam tempura roll and the avo roll.

Great spot for fresh tasting sushi and large pieces of sashimi! The restaurant gets busy so be prepared to wait certain nights of the week. They usually provide complimentary miso soup to everyone after ordering so that’s a nice touch. The orders are well-portioned and generally tasty. I haven’t ordered anything that tasted off. I haven’t had any issues with their service either. Keep it up!

We have stopped by this restaurant a couple times now and found each visit to be enjoyable. The food is fresh. Plus, if you like bento boxes, they serve them at reasonable prices during dinner. The food has been consistently tasty. Service is very, very good. Food arrived quickly after we placed our order. The sushi chef behind the counter could tell I was looking for soy sauce and called the server to come to our table quickly. They had refilled the soy sauce but had not replace the bottle at our table. We also received complementary ice cream afterwards so I am not sure why but enjoyed that too(? Soy sauce incident)! Staff also thanked us and open the door for us as we left. I will come back because the food and service has been consistently good each time we visited.

Solid 3.5 stars, maybe I expected too much or ordered different things yet it’s worth coming back to again anyhow. English isn’t their strong suit, Korean-operated, this used to be a Mexican place last year. Ordered takeout, asked her for a popular roll, and whatever roll, prob. a dynamite roll, did have a unique spicy sauce with deep fried yam on top, that was actually good. Can’t say I was impressed with pink ginger. The toro sashimi was just ok, a bit cold in some areas. Considered spacious relative to the smaller sushi joints in this area. Friendly service, girl nice enough to walk me out and opened the door, thought she was Japanese for a second lol.

Decided to try this place on a whim based on Unilocal reviews and we weren’t disappointed. Good prices, generous serving sizes and friendly staff. Super thick cuts of sashimi and very yummy tuna tataki. I’d also recommend the okonomiyaki(new on the menu). The fried ice cream was a bit disappointing though… the batter was too hard. But we’d defo go back again!

I don’t give 5 stars lightly but this place deserves it. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, the taste extremely fresh and light, and flavourful. The gomae was the only average dish of our meal. Everything else was spectacular. The tuna tataki was a hit. Large pieces of tuna and a really great ponzu sauce. We shared a deluxe assorted sushi combo and the house roll, both of which blew our collective minds. Simple dishes prepared extremely well. I’ll be going back and bringing friends,
