Great little store to pick up something if you’re in the area or are missing ingredients. Yes, it is overpriced, but it’s convenient and they do carry mostly all organic produce/meats. I have often scored things on sale, including day-old bread from Prairie Mill which is delicious. Staff is consistently friendly, store is tidy, great location.

I love this place because of the people who works there. They go out of their way to help you of whatever you are looking for. If there’s something you need and they don’t carry it, they order it for you! I love places like this. Makes you believe that there are people who cares about their jobs and the people they serve. Always enjoy coming here.

I really like this convenient downtown Amaranth location. The selection of foods is not large but I seem to always find what I’m looking for. The prices are also not outrageous for the location.

I am so happy Amaranth is in my neighborhood! Not only does it have everything I need, but I no longer have to fight the horrible Safeway lineups after work, plus the produce is way better! if you have never tried the corn tortillas they sell, go there now! have soft tacos tonight! pick up the fresh Cilantro Salsa they sell, it’s amazing!(right beside the tortillas, near all the fresh soups and everything) so good. service is usually great — sometimes the staff is a little zoned out, but in a cute way. just like, chillin’. No rush, which is cool.(unless you’re in a rush. but still — faster than safeway!)

Great addition to the neighbourhood! Very pleased to have any type of food store on this block, but a health food store is a bonus. They have a decent produce section for the size of the store, & prices are quite reasonable considering everything is organic. Some packaged produce(such as lettuce mixes) is the same price as Safeway. It’s so convenient to have somewhere close to pick up an extra pepper or some portobellos for a last minute meal. Prices for processed food also seem reasonable; I can’t comment on the meats because I am a vegetarian. Staff have been pleasant & efficient every time I have been in. I checked out the supplement selection the first week they were open, as my doctor has prescribed a high dose of something that I can get most cheaply on line, & I wanted to compare. A staff member came out & introduced herself, gave me her card & told me to ask if I wanted anything ordered, as they sometimes have stock at their larger branches. The great part was, when I told her what I was ordering she agreed that they would probably not be able beat the price & did not try to convince me to order from them. I appreciated the no pressure approach. The one disappointment is that due to the size of the shop, I can’t get my few hardcore health food store staples here. So we still have to make a trip to Community for things such as nutritional yeast. I am hoping the Sony Store closes so Amaranth can expand into their space :)(it’s ok for Lindt Chocolates to stay, though LOL)

I poked my head in a few months ago to see if Amaranth would have anything of interest. I don’t have food sensitivities and am not hell bent on eating organically labelled food. I can shop at your average store completely guilt-free. I noticed that prices seemed reasonable and nearly fell over when I found Earth’s Own unsweetened almond milk for less than what Superstore charges. Seriously?! I bought some immediately and had to say something to the clerk about this lovely surprise. He said they try to have competitive prices and they do have a shopper’s points program. I grabbed a brochure and at the time, they were piloting a fundraising program for youth. They were accepting one school, sports team or other youth group per month. Anyone interested might want to check it out.

A great place to pick up a few produce items. For me that’s about it. There are some health foods, vitamins, supplements, etc. but I’m not into that. As a full grocery store it fails but as a health food and supplement store it excels. Produce items are limited but really high quality organics foods. Make sure to check the bread before buying as I found one item to be molding already. I just wished they had more produce. Bring your own bag and accumulate member points.
