Great workouts, welcoming staff, and a beautiful & clean studio!

I discovered Barre Body a few months ago and have been going regularly ever since. Elements of my favourite forms of exercise (ballet, yoga, pilates) are all rolled into one class — which is so efficient. I mean, who wants to exercise more than they need to? I’m not super fit, but I can see how these classes are making me stronger already.
The classes take place in a dance studio with mirrors and ballet barres. There’s barre work, floor work, cardio, some weights and bands are used in almost all the classes. I think the variety makes the classes go by fast.
— everyone is encouraged to work towards their own personal fitness goal
— there’s a variety of age groups, sizes and shapes, that attend the classes (even some guys)
— there’s a variety of days/​times available for booking
— there’s a variety of instructors, although the fundamental elements are incorporated into each class
— there are usually adaptations offered for different fitness levels
— it is an all over workout, which makes it a worthwhile exercise in my books
— I work muscles I’ve never worked before
— I always work up a sweat
— AND you get to wear cool toe sox (socks with grippers on the bottom so no runners here!)
— the change rooms are kept nice

beautiful and uplifting space.
Most importantly, you see results. You’ll be hooked after your first class.
Barre has created a wonderful community of fitness enthusiasts — it’s like a home away from home.

Since trying Barre a couple of weeks ago, I can safely say I am completely OBSESSED!!!
Not only are the fitness classes great (LOVE Crystal’s class on Saturday mornings!), the ladies working there are incredibly friendly and helpful. No snobby attitudes here! Although the studio is in an odd location, they offer ample parking as well as valet, if you’re fancy like that. The space is bright, airy, and modern, and the facilities are clean & well equipped, with complimentary lockers to store your things and private changing rooms. They also sell bkr bottles (my fave) and cute accessories such as toe socks, headbands, and workout gear.
The online booking system is really convenient and the website offers a load of information so you know what to expect when you show up. My only complaint would be that the classes are a little pricey, but you definitely get your moneys worth. The low impact workouts allow for maximum benefit (especially in the butt and legs!) but are safe for people of all ages.
I love the rewards program and the positive, uplifting feeling I get after I finish a class. The instructors (or «Barre Tenders») are so much fun and a great addition to my workout routine. LOVE!

The workout is fantastic, but that’s not what gets the 5 stars from me…
The staff and instructors at the Barre Body Studio are incredibly welcoming, positive and helpful. They take the time to have individual conversations with you after classes and help you make adjustments to exercises that just don’t feel quite right. Before I went in for my first class, I dropped by to ask some questions — the woman working at the desk gave me a tour of the space, explained the class format and what I’d need to bring and wear and went over the pricing options to help me figure out what worked best for me. A lovely, lovely group of women.
The facility is unique, clean and well maintained. The locker room is beautiful, lockers are free, there is filtered water available and showers with towel service after classes. The locker room is a bit small, but the showers double as private change rooms if you want your own space. The studio space is bright, clean and stylish. There are bars of two heights, and all additional equipment is provided for classes (balls, weights, mats). You need to purchase your own socks, but they have lots of selection at the front desk.
The online booking system is highly recommended, although the one time I arrived without a reservation to a busy evening class, they fit me in graciously. They have an online rewards program — the more you attend, the more points you earn towards bags, socks and free classes.
Overall, the Barre Body Studio makes you feel great, both from the workout and with the warm fuzzies on the inside!

I’ve now been to 4 – 5 classes here and am very pleased with the cleanliness of the studio, the pleasant staff, and the great workout. I did dock one star for two reasons — 1. Class availability: barre is evidently becoming a popular thing here in Calgary, so classes during peak times (evenings and weekends) are challenging to get into, and 2. Capacity: most of the classes I have attended have been a full house, and with time hopefully they’ll open up more class availability to meet demand. Otherwise, the workouts have been great and I look forward to seeing this business grow. The online booking system is also great for signing up ahead of time.

Went to their lunch express class — it’s an excellent workout. The studio is clean and tidy, close to downtown (5 minute drive from my office) and the class was fun. I arrived just as the class was starting, the receptionist send me in and processed the payment after. The teacher was very good at offering additional help and tips to keep great posture. I would liken this workout to pilates without the weird positions. Great workout & I’ll be back. Oh and I love their lockers — very civilized.

Probably the friendliest fitness studio in Calgary. All of the instructors and staff go out of their way to make everybody feel welcome, which is great when you’re trying a new class.
The classes are awesome; hard enough to feel the burn (oh the burn!) but low impact so you can go multiple times a week without worrying about injuring yourself.
I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly you could see results, especially in the legs. Lots of toning work! Definitely my new favorite workout.
I only wish there were more classes each week so that I could go more often. Especially early morning classes!

I absolutely love these classes, and can’t wait to check out their new studio. It is a hard but fun workout — your butt and legs will be burning by the end!
