Beads & Plenty More

At one time I shopped here quite frequently. I stopped because when I branched out into more complicated projects I’d ask the staff questions. We’d talk extensively and they’d recommend products. Twice I was recommended things I was hesitant to buy due to the price. Both times I found these products were completely unsuitable to the task. They refused to refund the items, with a receipt within a week of purchase, even after promising me that if they did not work for the project I would have no problem bringing them back.
When I came in the woman at the counter agreed to the return at which point the owner came in, reviewed the tools and deemed them not acceptable for return. The woman at the counter seemed confused and said that I had been told I would be able to return the items. The owner proceeded to tell her that she personally had not authenticated that claim and that I could not return them.
Deplorable woman. Rude. Needs to communicate with her staff such constraints before situations such as this arise.
I have found it is also incredibly easy to find their stock online for a fraction of the cost. I would advise others try doing the same.

Excellent classes, a great array of products, exceptional customer service … it’s on my top five list of places to shop in Calgary!

This review is for the Beads & Plenty More in Northland Mall. After shopping at a couple other bead stores in Calgary I found their price point for chain to be great (I paid between $ 2-​$ 3/​metre for simple ones) and they had a lot to choose from. They’ve been at the same location for 25 years and the staff were very nice. The only reason I took off a star is because I wish the store was a bit bigger so they could have more beads and gems!

This place was a childhood favourite for me, like I’m sure it was for every girl growing up in the ’90’s. I made dozens of those little beaded lizards, bubble bees, etc. (which I was happy to see today that they still sell those in packages). I gave one to everyone, and still have a drawer full of them somewhere (I can’t dump them, the memories are too cherished). Oh or when we’d braid strings into bracelets. Or just take a wide assortment of beats, spell out our names, and make jewelery with that. Bead & Plenty More was the place I went to get my supplies. Seriously, this place was like heaven and still is today. I feel like a kid in this store.
The assortment of beads and general craft work in this store is amazing. Whatever you need (wire, pliers, potential pendants, craft books, etc), it’s all there. Just walking into this store and seeing all the shapes, colours, and materials (metal or plastic beads) got the creative juices flowing.
Oh how I miss those days where giving your friends a custom made bracelet or necklace was a big deal, and that was their birthday present. I think I need to return to those days, even if it looks cheap.

You remember back in the day when friendship bracelets were ‘the new black’? Well THIS is where EVERYONE and their dog would go to get the hottest beads. Yes, me included.
I remember spending hours on end in this store with my sister, trying to find the PERFECT colours of beads for our BFFs. We’d measure out the string/​wire perfectly, and collect a number of different bags to ensure the colours didn’t get all mixed up with one another. Then we’d come home and dump out each colour of bead into a different bowl and spend hours making the bracelets that would later end up in the backs of drawers or worse, in the local landfill.
Long story short, Beads & Plenty More is a whole lotta store! They’ve got EVERY single type of bead your mind can muster up and if you can’t find it in the overwhelming number of cases and displays, just ask one of the staff members because they have surely seen it and know its whereabouts.

So, I love a good craft every now and then. And when I have a hankering for some bead work, I know where to go.
I used to head to this store almost every day when I was younger, but seldom go back. Well, since it’s around Christmastime and presents are in order, I’ve started making something for my little cousin. It combines sewing, beads and a bunch of stuffing. You guessed it, it’s a doll!
Well, I finally got to make my way back to Beads ‘n’ Plenty More to put the finishing touches on this doll. I forgot how much beads and junk they have in this place. It’s really overwhelming the amount of craft stuff they have in this place. It doesn’t matter what kind of bead you’re looking for, this place has got it. They have every size, shape and colour of bead you can imagine!
I wish I did more crafts so I could go to this place more. Maybe I’ll just start making random things so I can visit Beads more often!
