Ok I am not a big fan of negative reviews, but this was the worst grocery shopping experience I have ever had. I thought, I was in the area so a quick stop off to grab some essentials on the way through. What a mistake. The produce is really what sent me over the edge, nothing was fresh. I grabbed a head of lettuce and my thumb went through the mushy squishy rottenness of it all. I could not go any further. I would say make the drive to your regular market and stay away from this place. Unless you have a thing for stale breads, no selection of deli meats or cheeses, and vegetables that have seen better days. Sorry Bownesian Grocer, your adorable sign and small town feel fooled me once, it won’t happen again.

A small neighbourhood grocery store. A great choice for those of us who live in the bowness area and need to pick up some quick grocery items. One of my favorite parts of this grocery store is their willingness to bring in items for customers. They provide many healthy options for the health aware consumer. Colin and I have picked up dinner a number of times from a section that offers healthy home cooked meals like shepards pie, soup, pasta and so on. The stores employees are all friendly and will laugh and chat it up while they ring you through. It’s definately not the size of a coop or a safeway but if can hold it’s own for a good protion of your basic shopping needs and then some. Plus you can’t beat that family and friends ambience.
