Brûlée Bakery

I have been in this place few times and ordered cake one time. The taste, design and quality of the cake was outstanding. Customer service is great too. They have tons of options you could choose from but for cakes they prefer ordering in advance; they have limited numbers of cakes on the front.

I got the chocolate Ganache cake for my 30^th birthday and I loved it. The cake was decorated with fresh flowers and it was super tasty. I believe it’s one of the best in town.

My husband and I were looking for a good cake maker to make us a special cake for our baby gender announcement to the family. The whole idea was that we ourselves didn’t know the gender either so we needed complete secrecy up to when the big reveal was to unfold.
We got a sealed envelope from the doctor and gave it directly to the Brulee staff. They took it in the back, wrote down on the order what they needed to and sealed it back up, then gave it to us. When we were to pick it up they let us know that if it’s a girl the layer beneath the chocolate frosting is going to be pink, if it’s a boy it’s going to be blue.
Everything was done and ready in just three days and the cake looked amazing.
The funny thing is that we announced everything at our uncle’s birthday party so the cake had to look like an actual birthday cake.
Absolutely awesome! I recommend them completely and will sure go there again and again each time I need a good quality cake and service!

very limited selection, again only 2 display cases. 4 $ for a lemon wedge? ripoff city. Nothing spectacular besides their spectacularly high prices.

I was walking down the street thinking about mundane things like how to better organize my closet and suddenly I felt like I was in a cartoon. You know when a cartoon bear is walking along and suddenly a smell cloud wanders through the air and he sniffs and follows it until he spots an amazing picnic through the bushes? It was JUST like that. Except the scent cloud in this case consisted of heavenly, cinnamon sugar.
I followed my schnoz to this bakery establishment and the warm cookies tasted just like the air had smelt. Ambrosia!
I have since ordered cakes from here and this is where Brûlée shines for me (as I don’t just drop in to sample goods often). I have loved every cake I have purchased (and received lots of compliments on the choices) but my heart truly beats for the Ganache.
Mmmm, in my dreams every fridge would open to left-​over fried chicken and Brûlée chocolate cake…

I wandered into this tiny bakery on a whim while furniture and home décor shopping. I was feeling hungry and wondered if this place would have something good to eat. They don’t offer much in the way of savoury foods but they do have quiches and some cheeses. I ordered a cheesecake brownie to go and it was incredibly good! Big piece and under $ 3 with the tax. I wish I lived in th city so I could come back and try a few other items.
This would be a destination place for sure.

Literally THE BEST cake I’ve ever had. Pink princess cake was so pretty I didn’t want to cut into it. But so glad I did, it was so good…

Simply the best food! My personal favourite would be the peanut butter mousse cups.

Best lemon birthday cake in town … Consistent quality for decades!

Hidden gem alert! This place is fantastic! Seriously you guys, if you want a special treat or you just feel overly indulgent this is place to go. It’s a tiny little bakery on 10^th where everything is made fresh! There are tons of gluten free options, but since it was my birthday I opted for a mini-​cheesecake with fresh fruit on it. My favorite part; the gooseberry on top. You see I have an odd obsession with gooseberries, I think they are fantastic and could eat them all day long! I brought my creamy delicious treat back to the office to snack on during the afternoon and it was even more delicious than I expected.
This tiny bakery really out does itself, the melt in your mouth goodies are seriously worth it. They don’t have a huge selection but that’s what makes it unique — it’s not overdone, and frankly it kind of reminds me of a European bakery or something you would find in New York which just makes it that much more desirable. Calgary has a lot of great cafes with baked goods but this place really trumps them all!

A work colleague introduced me to the Brûlée Bakery on a nicely warm and sunny Saturday morning. We were walking down Electric Avenue, when she made a hard turn at an unmarked door and then hard left to downstairs. Upstairs was a cooking store and school, with the Metrovino Wine Shop farther through. She knows of this place as she lives in this general area and the next door spa she goes to serves Brûlée Bakery goods to their customers. Her first reaction when I started asking for details of this place was «Don’t write this place up on Unilocal!»
Too Late, as the secret of this wonderful little bakery is already out. I ordered a pecan roll that was the best warm and sweet piece of baked goodness that I had enjoyed in a very long time. And if actually lived in Calgary, I would be back often for the breads and the various tempting examples of Le Gâteau Élégant. I was so impressed that later in the afternoon, I circled back by myself and snagged a few breakfast scones for the next day and after. It was all good to the very last crumb.

Specializing in dessert, Brulee offers a small, but incredibly well done selection of cakes, cookies, brownies and so on. I’m an especial fan of their croissants.
So where to start… where to start. Well, they’re a bit hard to find, as they’re just underneath the Cookbook Co. on 11^th AVe SW. They’re definately busy baking all the time, but I’ve seen them sell out often. They’re simply marvellous at what they do, and what they do is simply delicious. Their service is fast and efficient, and they’re quite a friendly staff.
There’s still quite a bit I’ve yet to try, so looking forward to my next few visits.

I was recommended to try Brûlée via Twitter. I was looking for a great tasting cake that would be special for my mother in law’s 65^th birthday. I am not a dessert person so I asked them for advice on flavour and style.
They did not disappoint! The chocolate ganache cake was to die for and I’m not even a chocolate lover. A day later I’m trying to figure out who has a birthday next so that I can order them a cake to try other flavours.
The service was also top notch. So friendly, knowledgeable and easy to work with. If I could assign a bonus star I would. I would hands down recommend Brulee to anyone looking for cakes and pastries for any occasion.

Brûlée has turned me into a dessert person. I now sometimes look off into the distance and think about Brûlée’s sugar cookies (which are so buttery delicious I wish they were a food group).
Everything on their menu that I’ve tried I’ve loved. Whether it’s the sugar, white chocolate macadamia nut or peanut butter cookies or their custard filled, fresh fruit topped, crumbly crust butter tarts; it’s exactly what you’d expect of a great dessert; a treat full of well balanced flavor that leaves you satisfied without feeling too full.
Expect to pay a premium for these treats; but if you need to impress someone special, a Brûlée dessert is sure to do the trick. Just follow your nose down the stairs and get yourself a sugar cookie (you deserve it).

Mmmm… an underground bakery. Literally. Brulee dwells in the basement half of one of the buildings on 11^th Ave. The first time I visited was to buy myself a piece of birthday cake. The second time, to buy a friend a piece of birthday cake. I was that impressed with my own piece.
It’s no wonder Brulee has such a good reputation – your dessert is baked and dressed to impressed with copious amounts of TLC in every bite.
The cheesecake is next on my list to try as suggested by Gimlet B, but you’ll be pretty safe with anything in there… unless of course you’re looking to avoid satisfying your sweet tooth. In that case, run.

Okay, okay I swear: I’ll do a sugar detox next week.
Since it’s not next week yet, you’ll be happy to know that I visited Brulee Bakery this week and I was delighted!
Known around town for pulling out all the stops in their festive baking (Easter, Mother’s Day, Christmas, etc), I had to see these decadent creations for myself.
Known for their lemon cream cake, chocolate Ganache cake, lavender shortbread, chocolate Diablo, pecan sticky buns, seasonal fruit tarts, apricot torte, seasonal fruit tarts, chocolate chip cookies, cheesecake brownies and custom-​made cakes, Brulee really sets the bar (very high I might add) when it comes to baked goods in Calgary.
With a wedding cake specialist in-​house, the good people at Brulee are living proof that if you can dream it, they can make it.
Whether you are looking for gluten-​free desserts, or raw puff pastry to take home and bake with yourself, Brulee Bakery is an absolute gem in our city.

Hard to find, but well worth the search. If they have cheesecake you better get it before I do.
