Food was great but service was not. We(two adults) were seated intimately between three families with children — maybe could have advised us we’d be eating in the kid zone? Food was relatively fast but the server forgot to send our dessert order so it was late and was very slow to bring the bill. Very friendly though? Only comments on the otherwise excellent food — skip the nutella crêpe, in hindsight probably a bad choice and the butter lettuce salad could have used double the lettuce.

Every time I visit Calgary I’ve made my way to Cibo! Each time I’ve gone I’ve never been disappointed. I live in Edmonton and have never been to the Cibo here, go figure!(sorry YEG!) I haven’t tried everything on their menu, but what I have tried has been excellent. They’ve also revamped and created a smaller menu, which is honestly better because there were too many choices before and if you have order anxiety like me, you’ll never be able to choose! GETTHEWILDBOARBACONPIZZA. Seriously. Just get it and then thank me. It is to die for! Love the atmosphere, what I’d call cozy contemporary. It can get loud because it’s really busy but I don’t mind that at all, it gives the place extra heart. The service has always been awesome and the servers are really friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to go back!

I come here a lot as its close to my home. It is a casual and warm environment. Food is consistently good and fresh and the service is outstanding. I’m here right now, Tiffany is my server, and she’s fabulous. Highly recommend.

Tried the $ 16 lunch special which includes a small portion of pasta, side and salad. It was okay but edible.(Okay the beets were yummy.) Had a glass of Sangiovese and it was okay. I expected for for a restaurant on 17th but it is what it is.

I’ve been to Cibo twice in the last month and both times it was awesome. Thanks to Erica, who served me twice and made my experience there as a vegan just perfect.(And to the chefs who accommodate me!)

I’m finding that every time I go to Cibo I end up having to wait at least 10 – 15 minutes even though we have reservations. The waiting area at the bar is too cramped. As cute as the place is it is always so loud that I can barely hear the person sitting next to me let alone the person who is across from me or further down the table. For the most part, the food is pretty good but portion sizes are on the smaller side and the service seems to be getting slower with each visit. It’s not my number one pick for a night out with friends or date night anymore.

Good Italian food with great selection of wine; the restaurant is spacious and a bit on the louder side. It is just located in the heart of 17th avenue, great location; parking is in the back side and most of the time packed but you should be able to find a spot on the street.

Most recently I went to Cibo on a Friday night. The hostesses seemed a bit disorganized. We had to wait about 20 mins –30 mins for a table for 3, so we had a drink at bar. The bartender was helpful and attentive. When we got seated upstairs there were a good amount of empty tables so that was a bit strange. Our server was friendly and got our bottle of wine from the bar sent up as the hostess said she couldn’t bring it up with us. The atmosphere upstairs was nice, open and its perfect for a get together with friends. The menu has many great Italian options we ordered the arancini, garganelli pasta and mushroom pizza. The server came back within 5 mins to tell us that they ran out of pizza dough! We were super disappointed with that. So we ordered the cod and tuna instead. When the arancini came out the runner plopped it on the table said«meatballs» and walked away lol. They tasted delicious(best in the city) and they were not meatballs. The garganelli pasta came out great, I would definitely order it again, my friends were happy with the tuna and cod as well. For dessert we had the Dark Chocolate torta which was good. It wasn’t too sweet which I liked but I would probably go for something else next time. It didn’t wow me, we didn’t even finish it(unusual for dessert). The wine and conversation flowed all night. If it wasn’t for the mediocre service and the fact that they ran out of pizza dough on a Friday night(Big thumbs down!). I would really rate Cibo higher than a 3 star. I’ve had good experiences here in the past and I really like their enclosed patio in the summer and happy hour specials.

Not everything is good here, but they do have some incredible dishes at a reasonable price. What I recommend: The Gnocchi for the entrée and the Goat Cheese Panna Cotta for dessert. The waitress messed up our order on the pizza, but the food did come out quite quickly. I still dream about that Panna Cotta.

CIBO is an open concept, 2 story restaurant with an excellent patio. You have to pay for parking but they have their own lot at the side of the restaurant. Their pizzas are amazing and they have one of the most original menus in Calgary. I’d recommend this place for date night or even a buisness lunch. The service has always been top notch as well. Definitely worth a try!

I been meaning to go to Cibo for a while now and finally made my way over there. Atmosphere was alright, it was a bit loud(although this could just be the table we were at… which was kind of tiny and right next to the stairs. boo) Our server was sweet, attentive and didn’t seem bothered that I kept sending her away since I couldn’t make a decision on which wine to have. Speaking of wine, list was pretty good by the glass and everything on the menu sounded amazing… After some thoughtful planning we decided on a few items to share: Beef Carpaccio, Lamb Meatballs and the Pineapple Pizza… everything was full of flavour and delicious, although I wish they didn’t top the carpaccio with potato crisps and just gave you crostini instead… but it was a new twist to an old fav. And that’s all she wrote folks.

Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about this place… and I’ve eaten here at least 10 times. The service has always been great, food excellent(love the crostini appies, pizza and the spaghetti and meatballs for 2). Nice vibe with the open kitchen or even sitting at the bar, which we usually do. Just writing this makes me want to go!

Cibo is tres beau! Alright the pizza here is all kinds of amazing. I tried two kinds and quite liked it. $ 5 wine didn’t hurt either. The tables lining the glass are ridiculously narrow though for some reason and that’s kind of lame. So if they want to sit you there probably pick another spot lol. The waiters and waitresses could definitely improve on their flair. No, I’m not talking about those pins people put on vests but the way the staff present things like wine. Comparable restaurants of much better rates don’t pour like a 3 year old with a sippy cup. I noticed a lady in the corner on her Macbook Pro for most of the night so I guess it’s also a good place to study?

Delicious good value for lunch, large venue where we knew we could enter without reservations(I’m sure that’s not always the case). Staff was attentive and food was very good.

DOWNGRADE. I’m adding a new category thanks to a conversation with the manager of Cibo. It is the U-LIST. Unbelievable. Just returned from Cibo and could not believe the manager. The main course was raw and there was no offer to adjust the bill. She stated that our dining experience was not significantly interrupted while having a mouthful of raw meat. Apparently, I was unaware that raw meat as part of the dining experience is a minor event. It then follows that the new Cibo customer service policy as of yesterday, October 1 is: If you have a significant interruption in the quality of the food served or level of service at our establishment, the customer will not be offered an adjustment of the bill or any other compensation for our error. Anyone who pretends that others should accept improperly cooked food and a poor dining experience without some form of compensation, while they themselves would not accept the same is unacceptable. Would like to hear from others who have had to deal with this manager. Sorry, but it’s difficult to give this establishment future business as a result of this unpleasant experience. The one star rating is extreme and given the lack of vision, communication and problem solving ability on the part of the manager it is warranted. As always — You decide. For real. Unbelievable.

I went here today and was surprised by how adorable the patio is! It’s closed off from 17th in its own enclosed area. You’re surrounded by a very old-timey blue wood fence and there are vines hanging off of everything. It’s really beautiful and looks like a secret garden hideaway. If you’re on 17th I highly recommend coming and sitting on their private patio. The crowd is great too Their wine half time specials are pretty decent too! We decided to have a few glasses of the house pinot grigio and I really enjoyed it. It’s so nice to have a few cold glasses of wine on a +30C day! They also have Q water for guests which is awesome. Honourable mention goes to the upstairs bathroom for being adorable.

Mushroom pizza is the best. Pineapple pizza was also good. Pear pizza was not great — was very bare when it came to toppings and tasted like a dessert pizza. Today, the pizza crust wasn’t great. It was very thick in some parts.

Love myself a good, authentic Italian restaurant, and this one was on point! Came here to catch up with a couple friends, so the ambiance and environment was pretty good for that(though the music did get a bit loud at times!). Came here a little earlier than our reservation time, but the hostess was super nice and seated us right away. Went straight upstairs to a more open area and had nice seats with the sun coming in through the windows! We were also waiting on one person to show up, as they were a little late, but our server was extremely patient and accommodating, waited and explained the menus to us(you’re awesome Diane)! I was personally not as hungry as I normally would be at that time of the night, so I just ordered a pasta. The Farfalle was amazing! We actually ordered 3 for our table as we each got the same dish! The mix of the bowtie pasta with the tomatoes and wild boar bacon was inspiring. The different tastes and textures came together in perfect harmony, making the dish complete with parmesan cheese on top. Good selection of beers and wines, and even had half priced bottles on special! Server was knowledgeable, explaining each drink you had questions about, and giving an easy to understand answer. Definitely a well deserved 4 stars and would love to come back to try more items on the menu sometime!

My kid and I have eaten here a dozen or so times for lunch. Consistently good and their $ 15 lunch board is a great deal and comes with a homemade treat to take home in a brown paper bag. They also have a great $ 5 cocktail special on certain days of the week. Also available is a kids menu.

I’m never disappointed when I come here for food or just drinks. It’s a great and very lively atmosphere, no matter what time of day or night you arrive. It’s always busy. I try, at every restaurant to try something new and different, but with this place I have my «go to». I always order the Gnocchi for dinner and Tiramisu for dessert. Yes, boring to some but they do such a great job with both. Especially with the Gnocchi. So good — wish it was a bit bigger. Parking is tough at this location and if you find some on 17th Avenue, consider yourself lucky. I always park a bit away at the impark since it’s never full any of the times I have been. They have some great happy hour specials during the week and it starts at 3 — 6pm if you are looking to have a bevie or two. Been to Cibo many times and will continue to do so! Maybe I will try something different next time ;)
