My do-gooder senses are tingling. Have you ever heard of the Habitat ReStore SuperStore? Me neither until today. It’s in the NE right next to The Brick. Competition? Probably not. But it’s an ingenious little concept that seems to be working. The space Habitat has secured is HUGE. It’s comparable to any other big furniture store in square footage. The difference here is that all of the furniture is donated(right now there’s a ton of furniture from The Palliser since they’re doing a bunch of renos. I’m going back to get me one of the desks). Any of the profits from the store go back to supporting Habitat for Humanity. They’ve got everything from bathtubs and kitchen sinks, to dining room chairs, living room sets, armoirs, desks, even a row of doors at the back should you need a new one of those. Beyond supporting Habitat, the best part of this place is the price tag. Most of it was priced at $ 100 or under. How perfect is that? Especially if you’re planning on turning one of these finds into your own little custom project. What you won’t get is a guaranteed find. The furniture is sold as-is and is dependent on what people bring in. But hey, the price is right, the cause is right, and if the piece of furniture fits, that’s enough reason for me to stop in here first.

This 30,000sqft of warehouse space is full of donated furniture, appliances, mattresses, doors and all sorts of items for your home! I volunteered at this new ReStore SuperStore this morning, and was thrilled with the experience. They have some amazing quality used furniture for great prices. They also have a great variety of items. The Palliser is remodeling 50+ rooms and have given ReStore all of the furnishings from these rooms, so expect some high end wood pieces for unbelievable prices. As a designer, I see the potential in so many rugged and worn pieces… a coat of paint or some new upholstering can make a word of difference! And for prices under 300 $ for funky vintage sofa & chair sets, you can’t go wrong. Love it. I spoke with the store’s director Michael O’Reilly today. It was great to learn that they have exciting plans for this new space(they just moved in Oct 4th). They say they’ve never had a space like this before. Their past location was 10,000 sqft. They hope to work with designers on new projects, and store display. Another great point about this place, is that all the proceeds from the store go to the construction division of Habitat for Humanity. They could stand some more volunteers, so if you have the time, it’s a great cause to get involved with!
