Jenny Craig Personal Weight Loss Management

At 42 years old, it just isn’t easy keeping my weight in check. As a 30 year old, I maintained a size 6 on McChickens and Milkshakes. Lets just say it caught up to me.
I have tried a few weight loss programs, and I always succeed on them, but then, the weight slowly creeps back up. I have done Weight Watchers, Body for Life, Eating Alive, and… just plain old cut back and followed the advice of all collective programs. The truth is, I know how to eat healthy. Its a matter of managing what I want to do and what I have to do. I am not looking for a program to help me learn good eating habits. I have that one down pat. what I need is militant disciplline around a very busy lifestyle.
Currently I am working a role which has a lot of overtime, so my eating habits have continued to decline. I have found myself eating 2 meals a day out of food courts (lunch and dinner). Yes, there are good choices in there, but its hard to choose them when the smell of chinese food is more pungeant than a salad.
A girlfriend of mine use to work at Jenny Craig and I approached her to ask her opinion of not only the program, but of me… and whether she thought I would see success on it. She sung very high praise of the program and the organization as a whole, and said without question it has helped many women, including herself. She lost 30 pounds on that program, which in essence is my goal weight loss as well.
Her recommendation was to call in first to make an appointment. When she was a consultant for them, she said that they booked client meetings every 20 minutes, so she didn’t want me to just show up and then be disappointed, while I was all gung ho. So I called in. They were able to get me in within 45 minutes.
The consultant I met with did my initial assessment and offered me a number of choices of programs. I went with a year’s program, which in essence gets me the support, weigh-​ins and if I maintain my goal weight for one year, 50% of my money back. I am damn convinced that is going to happen. Based on my own personal history, I am assuming they don’t cut those cheques very often. But I am feeling determined!
The idea of Jenny Craig is that you buy all your food from them. The cost is approximately $ 150 per week. When I did the math in my head, two meals in the food court, plus the odd latte is costing me approximately $ 30 a day, and that is just lunch and dinner. This gets me 3 meals and 2 snacks per day. Its making sense!
Then… I realized that I am not looking to learn healthy eating habits, I want to drop weight. Period. The template is fool proof. If I only eat what is given to me, I will succeed. It doesn’t get easier than that. I just make sure that I pack my dinner to work, and if I come home for instead, I bring it home, or eat dinner before I leave work.
The meals themselves are tasty. I haven’t really had anything that I didn’t enjoy. They also give you a generous amount of treats, and they are worked into your daily plan. Because of that, I never crave sugar (which I didn’t expect).
As I write this, I have lost 10 pounds on this program in a little less than a month. I lost 5 pounds the first week, and I am now losing 1.5 to 2 lbs a week. The results are adding up.
I go in once a week for my pep talk and to grab my food, and then do it all over again.
Once I hit my goal weight, they have a program for weining you off their food and onto regular food and increasing calories so that your weight stabilizes. At this rate, I should be at my goal weight by Christmas. Voot Voot!
It’s easy… I am just following the program. No more, no less!
