Reasonable quality food, big menu with lots of options, and it’s a fun idea to kind of mix and match flavours with mix ins. BUT the employees seem to care more about keeping the line going than following recipies correctly, they have their cell phones out, and are upset if you ask for a sample. The woman who I think was the manager barks at her employees in the back room when she thinks the customers can’t hear her, death stares the employees, and yet she can’t remember to remove a broken frozen yogurt machine.

As a treat for my birthday I ordered a small sweet cream cake with strawberries topped with caramel and brownie bits. As I ordered this on a Sunday they didn’t have production going but offered me one premade that they would decorate. I would be able to pick this one up on Monday at 6:30 pm. Unfortunately, as good as this cake sounded in theory it was a huge disappointment in reality. I think this particular cake was at the end of its shelf life and was stale as the ice cream had no taste to it whatsoever and was crystallized in texture as opposed to creamy in texture. Sttrawberries were frozen solid and you couldn’t bite into them very hard for fear of breaking your teeth. Pretty bad experience for something that is labelled as «premium ice cream. I might consider giving them a second chance by ordering a custom cake but would NEVER order an ice cream cake that had been premade again as you have no idea how long it has been sitting there.

Everyone loves ice cream right?! We do! :) It is the only time I veer away from my no-dessert rule — when I have been good all day and it is summertime!!! The variety at this particular shop in Market Mall is so-so. The main issue is with the employees. Every single one of them should be replaced. Maybe they do not like wearing the hats? Bad attitudes man and no matter how cheery you are to them asking for an ice cream sample, you are sure to get a snarl. No, a dirty look and then a snarl! The last time we were there, a couple of days ago we just left empty handed and went down the food court to DQ where they were pleased to serve us a couple of baby blizzards!

I really wish I could eat more ice cream. I know I’ll pay for it after! I LOVE all of the toppings you can pick to mix in, and the ice cream flavours. My review is for their lactose-free option. I wish they had more than one flavour selection at a time. I’m also wondering what ingredients they used in the lactose-free ice cream, as both myself and a friend tried it, and had all of the same symptoms you’d normally get from regular ice cream :(

So, not being a huge fan of dessert, you can understand why I don’t crave Marble Slab ice cream all that much. Every time I’ve had it, it’s always delicious and I always eat it all, but I always feel sick afterward. Always. I appreciate, though, that ice cream lovers adore Marble Slab. I can understand. It’s the most fantastic, elaborate ice cream store I’ve ever seen! If I were to picture what Willy Wonka’s ice cream factory looked like, this would be it! I love that you can choose from a million different flavours, and still get to pick candies to put in it. I like the waffle cones they make, because they’re sweet, but not too sweet. And I especially like watching them ‘cream’ together the ice cream and goodies you choose. It’s pretty cool and it makes for a really delicious treat! It’s the best invention ever for the ice cream lovers out there!

Any place that has jars of candies lined along the ceiling is your first clue that I’ll love it. Second clue? The fact that ALL they serve is dessert. This Marble Slab Creamery is tucked away in the corner at the food court inside Market Mall. It’s hard to miss however because when you step into the vicinity, all you can smell is the sweet scent of waffle cones. And considering you can smell THAT in the middle of a food court — that’s pretty damn good! Their ice cream is made daily in-store and they definitely hold true to their slogan: «The Freshest Ice Cream On Earth». Marble Slab has an insane amount of flavours. Everything from Vanilla Cinnamon to Cotton Candy. And of course to celebrate the holidays, they also have Egg Nog and Pumpkin Flavours. Oh, and did I mention that you get to choose mixins??? So not ONLY do you get to pick the flavour of ice cream you want, but you get to pick the mixins you want mixed in. We’re talkin anything from chocolate bar pieces, to fresh fruit. So it’s basically like a blizzard or a Yogen Fruz but in a cone, and with the freshest, most delicious ice cream you can imagine. Once you’ve picked your ice cream flavour and your mixins, they mash everything up right in front of you on a frozen counter. Then once it’s all perfectly mixed, they scoop it into a cone(or a cup of you prefer) and you’re good to go. I haven’t even mentioned yet that they also sell cakes, take-home pints, shakes, floats, smoothies and frozen yogurt. I know, RIGHT!!! If you hadn’t guessed it already, I’m definitely a fan. In fact, it’s ‘Ice Cream Break’ time! See ya there!
