Mount Royal University

I am a third year PR student at Mount Royal and I can safely say it has been such a valuable and inspirational three years. Unlike many universities, Mount Royal holds small class sizes that allow you to connect with your peers and professors on a level where you feel cared for. My education has consisted of many hands on learning experiences, and I feel confident entering the work force a year from now thanks to the valuable learning I have been provided. Although the parking is a nightmare, there really isn’t anything else that is negative you could say about the university — that is more than most could say about their schools! Overall, awesome place for undergraduates.

The facilities on Mount Royal University Campus are quite great! Having never been a student there myself, and only a visitor I’ll remark only on the modern buildings, the confusing parking system (which frustrated folks in my group repetitively as one needs to pay for parking inside before coming out to the parking lot if one is parked in the visitor lot and it is also really easy to forget to get a receipt for reimbursement… and if you leave the lot you will have to pay for parking AGAIN upon a return to campus). The council chambers are a great meeting space, and the recreation facilities are great on this campus as well!

I’m a recent graduate in the Bachelor of Arts program at MRU, and I have nothing but good things to say.
MRU is a wonderful school. I love that the class sizes are smaller, so you actually got to know your fellow classmates and your professors. I think it brings a personal touch to the experience when your professors actually take the time to help you and care about your success. I also found that both students and professors were really easy going, wonderful people. I found making friends both in and out of the classroom to be pretty simple. There are also lots of clubs and activities going on around campus that has something catering to everyone. The Recreation Centre is also great. I’m a member there, and the facility has top of the line equipment. They also offer squash courts, rock climbing walls, and fitness classes. So, it’s not just a gym for those who don’t care for working out on machines.
I definitely miss the university life. MRU is a place I highly recommend attending, whether you want to go to the Recreation Centre or even to be a student.

MRU is the perfect university. Class sizes are smaller, which means more face time with your professors, and a more interactive learning experience. We get a bit of flak from other school’s students for formerly being a college, but in the workplace, I’ve found a major lack of arrogance when it comes to where you got your degree. Unless you’re getting into Master’s and PhD stuff, MRU is amazing place to get an undergrad. You get more for your money by having that much access to the faculty. The support systems there are incredible.
If you have aspirations of moving upward into graduate studies, MRU feels like there’s more available resources to help keep the GPA on lock. It’s not easier, the system is just better.
The only thing that is an absolute nightmare is the parking sometimes. Since I started there, they’ve closed three massive lots. Still a five star experience.

What DOESN’T happen at Mount Royal? It’s simply awesome. One, I love my program two, you walk through the hallway and find a stand for a My Little Pony club, an extreme gaming club, and there always seems to be some kind of karaōke battle or dance-​off on Just Dance. You bump into friends in the hallway, you have a decent amount of places to grab a bite to eat on campus. The only sad thing is that they are not buying my textbooks back!

A great university! Great professors, small class sizes, and overall a very friendly atmosphere. Many of the auxiliary buildings are fairly new, which means they are technologically-​friendly. I am extremely happy to be attending MRU again now that it is a university.

I am almost graduated from MRU with my bachelors of business administration and so far I haven’t ever had a negative experience with MRU as far as I can remember. The classes are small, I’ve learnt a lot, I get a lot of hands on experience… what more could a student want? Obviously, as with all schools, you will get a prof here and there that you don’t like… it happens. It’s happened to me a few times but that doesn’t mean that my evaluation of the school as a whole is going to suffer.

So… disclaimer. I used to be the Marketing and Communication Coordinator for its Recreation department. That being said, I am no longer on its payroll. So there. Disclaimer over.
What I miss about this spot is the family and community. But what I really. Really. Really miss is having a playground in my backyard. A place where I could play squash at lunch, or basketball, or go for a run, or even swim some laps. A spot where I could walk down some stairs, swipe my card, change and go for TRX, Olympic lifting, or even run some laps.
I don’t have that here now. Gym is small. Cramped. Very clean. Very sterile. Recreation is a value in its inexpensive memberships — even cheaper if you have family that lives with you — in its incredible facilities and overall value in what it has to offer.
Need a membership? Looking to break out of a rut? Hire a personal trainer. Learn the TRX ropes. Go. Get fit. Get it done at Mount Royal University Recreation. And if you can Unilocal about some good fitness centres here — 2110 Fitness is next on my list — then by all means Unilocal at me.

I just graduated in the Business Administration program and I am extremely happy that I chose MRU. I had courses that needed to be transferred and had no issues there (although I heard it’s more difficult now) and the scheduling and advising process through the past three years was wonderful! I have had friends in Science and English though who did not have the same experience I did.
The small class sizes make group projects easier, asking questions easier, and communicating/​connecting with teachers and other students easier as well. I just hope Mount Royal sticks to this as a University. Most of the teachers I have had are passionate about teaching, and the subjects they teach which makes learning better. The campus is a beautiful area. Their food areas have a great selection, although sometimes seating is scarce. Their gym facility is also top notch!
The cons: I live in the south and transit isn’t always the most reliable. Parking can be difficult at times. When you’re new the main building can be confusing since the hall lettering isn’t in any particular order. Also there could be more group and quiet study areas.
If Mount Royal offers the program that you are interested in, go for it! You wont regret it.

I have attended three different colleges over the course of my post-​secondary career. Mount Royal takes the cake!
I have been at Mount Royal for all four years of my degree program and am wholly satisfied with class sizes (most classes are capped at 35 students), professor involvement and care, and general focus on education. Since becoming a university last year, it is clear that Mount Royal plans to continue with a student-​learning focus as opposed to the classic research focus, which means a «win» for students.

Great University, with a very nice campus. Its location is great, with proximity to Downtown Calgary and easy transit access. They are making large expansions to the campus, with a large parkade and new centres at the south east corner.

I got my Bachelor of Applied Business and Entrepreneurship and I’m glad I picked MRC. Their small class sizes makes for a great learning experience. You get to know your instructors and they get to know you on a first name basis. The directed field studies are a great way to get hands on experience before fully diving into the real world.
With the small class sizes, there seems to be a sense of comradely that builds between the students as the degree progresses. Everyone tries to help everyone else where they can even on those projects like «Mike’s Bikes» where you’re competing against each other for that A.
