Having a had a horrible customer experience at Lowe’s yesterday where I had to eventually give up on my purchase of three toilets, I dropped by my local Rona today. What a difference. The staff was very helpful and all of their stock was on the floor. While browsing I had three different reps offer to help me. Once I decided on the model I wanted Thomas helped me get three X one hundred pound boxes onto my cart and then came outside and helped me load them on my truck. What a great experience. Going forward this will be my first stop. Great job!

Rona on Macleod is located closer to my house than Home Depot, so in a pinch I will quickly pop in for small things. In general, the help is harder to find at Rona, as if they have less people working(than Home Depot) at any given time. I also found that when I did need to ask questions, I more often than not, received a response similar to «somewhere in that direction». The layout of the store is what you would expect. They have everything you would need for a home reno or just a small DIY project. If I am certain about what product I will need to buy, I will go to Rona because of the closer proximity. If I have questions to ask I will drive the extra distance because I am more confident that I will find someone knowledgeable at Home Depot.

I popped in on Christmas Eve for an emergency part to fix my parent’s phone line. The place was dead! I think they were expecting to be busy as there were tons of staff everywhere. I was able to easily get someone to help me find the oddball part I needed. I was also surprised that Rona had the piece as I went to The Source and Canadian Tire first which neither had it.

There are a lot of different things here. I got a good deal on my LED Christmas lights. They handled my return of dead lights relatively quickly. The cashiers have always been friendly. Later in the year, when I was shopping for grass seed, they did help me find a type that works well for allergy sufferers and steered me in the right direction for soil and a seeder. However, if you have any questions for a staff person, you have to hunt one down. Every single time. Not fun. Lighting isn’t the greatest, but I suppose it’s the same in any of these shoebox monster stores.
