Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire

top-​notch, well stylized rooms, relatively new furniture, etc. Zero complaints in three days (well, a minor tiffle regarding an airport shuttle, but in the long run, James took care of all the issues.) Good for kids, nice pool, with hot tub and slide. Pretty ordinary work out room.
Was checked in by Dee who was wonderful (maramang salamat) and the rest of the staff was great. Honest, too – recommended a place outside the hotel even with competing food interests in the hotel.
Walk to pretty much everything; 3 minutes to a theatre, 2 to drinks, 2 minutes to a wonderful walk throughout Calgary.
Nothing wrong with this place and almost everything perfect.

Upon evacuating Fort McMurray, due to the forest fires, I arrived at Sheraton Suites after a 14-​hr drive from Fort McMurray. I was treated very well upon my arrival. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and relaxed.
I suffered an allergy attack during my stay (had almonds that were purchased from an outside store … must have had a high MSG content … MSG is horrible!!) — Sheraton staff were on top of their game. They got me the medical attention I needed, swiftly. Thank you!
In-​room dining is exquisite. Love the tomato soup! Prices are on the steeper side, but that is to be expected from an establishment of this calibre.
Location — right across the cobbled streets from Eau Claire Market and a few feet away from the beautiful island.
Excellent service, excellent suites, excellent location. This place goes down in the books for me.

Great location. The staff are really really friendly
There is a hot tub and a pool (I LOVE ME some hot-​tubbing)
The food is aiiiight.
They upgraded me to a fancy pantsy room (which was totes unnecessary but whatevs I’ll take it)
Grabbing a cab is super easy out front and if you want to get a coffee outside the hotel there are a couple of really cute coffee shops right out front.

I have been here now 5 of my scheduled 7 nights and I have only great things to say about this hotel. The staff here are very pleasant, accommodating and genuine. The public areas of the hotel are clean and quiet. My room is very contemporary. The living room space is perfectly furnished with a desk, a couch with a pull out bed and a lounge chair. There is a little area for the fridge with a small sink above to prepare refreshments. What I really like about the suite is the bathroom can be accessed from the moment you walk in the door, or as an en suite from the bedroom. The last thing I will mention, although there are many more, is the bed. What else does one stay at a hotel for in the first place? There is a king size bed with memory foam and all the pillows you would need to make another mattress on the floor. The closest sensation o floating on a cloud– I think so! Roman, the suite attendant has been such a gem, as well as David down in the lobby. I understand why this hotel is categorized as a 5 star. Thanks so much and I will be back if/​when I am in Calgary again.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton Eau Claire. Though its location is not in the heart of downtown, it’s also what makes it attractive. Close enough of center of downtown minus its craziness.
The hotel staff were all extremely friendly and eager to please … from the valet to the front desk staff. Front office offered me an upgrade to a super luxe suite and it was beautifully appointed. It was clean, modern and very spacious. The club room access was an added bonus to get refreshments and breakfast. Though a little small in scale, it had enough offerings to be satisfying and enjoyable.
The Sheraton Eau Claire has a great mix of attentive staff and well-​maintained and well-​appointed amenities for me to want to definitively return for my next visit. Well done!

I forgot my toothbrush and was trying to find some way to hack it, You know maybe one of those «5 things you didn’t know could be used as a toothbrush» type of articles you read on Facebook.

Then I remembered I’m a Sheraton, and just got them to give me one.
Heh.
They had no problems with all the basic hotel things, wake up calls, friendly service etc.
The gym, pool and hot tub all fantastic.
The only minor gripe I had was there is no parking.
It’s $ 20 for Valet parking at a discount. Boooooo!
While I normally take 1 star off for no parking, I won’t in this case, because it’s Calgary. And they suck for parking.

This place is the best place to stay in, when you visit Calgary.
Our room was quiet, great view, lush, clean and provided such a great sleep. And the bath tub was WONDERFUL after a snowy walk through the zoo.
I also liked the pub they have attached to the lobby! I am now a huge fan of the Sheraton after this experience.

Excellent Sheraton and I’ve been in a lot of them. The suites are spacious and well designed (been in some that had zero sensibility as to how the room was structured), the furniture is pretty sleek with the exception of the couch (stiff). The platinum lounge is one of the better ones I can remember, full breakfast every day and light fare at night — in the warmer season, the terrace looks like a great place to relax with a morning coffee or early evening cocktail.
Downstairs they have a pretty good Irish pub; good food, plenty of TVs, and a dynamite staff.
Only knock, it’s pricey and you are not in a very fun area of the city, at least a 10 minute walk to any action.

Unbelievable service. Fionn’s the bar attached to the hotel is amazing. Ben the manager was extremely helpful in deciding on a meal. Will definitely make this my #1 choice for future staycations.

After spending more than a month in a less than stellar hotel in the US, the Sheraton Suites Eau Claire is a breath of fresh air! Great room, great staff and great location… with the added bonus of an Irish Pub on the property. Love this hotel!

After scouring downtown Calgary for a great hotel at a competitive price, we landed on Sheraton Suites in Eau Claire. We managed to snag a special where we could enjoy a King Suite for the price of a regular room.
After booking, I signed up for their SPG Rewards club which gave us the added perk of free wi-​fi & complimentary bottled water in the room.
The rooms were tastefully appointed in a contemporary style with a well stocked wet bar, microwave, computer desk, pull out couch, arm chair & flat screen television.
The adjoining bedroom was large, with an extremely comfortable bed. The pillows were plush and downy & the bedding was crisp and clean.
Everyone working at the hotel was incredibly friendly, and made sure our stay was very enjoyable.
There is a very nice fitness centre on the 2^nd floor, with large shallow pool (with waterslide! My husband was thrilled! Ha ha) & good sized hot tub surrounded by tall glass windows so you can enjoy the city lights.
Valet parking is available but upwards of $ 25 per night. We parked across the street, which was more affordable & easy.
Within walking distance to beautiful parks, shops and downtown nightlife, I would absolutely recommend this hotel for those visiting Calgary or even Calgarians looking to enjoy a nice staycation!

At $ 129 per night on a weekend, I thought was great.
2 fantastically comfortable queen size beds, 2 flat screen TVs, a microwave
and good room layout.
I live in Calgary and none the less I will be staying there again
because of the great service, cleanliness and location.
VERY close to the river, beautiful park, running paths,
great restaurants and happening clubs.
Only 1 negative… watch out, the WiFi is not free!
I had streamed about 15 minutes before realizing this, but it
was removed from my bill without a hassle.

Once again, the staff know me by name & always greet me with a smile so i feel welcomed every-​time! Another upgrade upon check-​in & no questions asked when i changed my reservation to leave one day early. The Sheraton is a gem in downtown-​close to all the summer festivals & too many restaurants & shopping to name! Whether its pleasure or business –I prefer this Starwood Property!

I’m sure this hotel would have been great had they not ‘lost’ our reservation. I guess I shouldn’t say lost, maybe — I was calling around to hotels, trying to make a last minute reservation for Saturday night of the May long weekend. After trying a few places, I came across this hotel, and to my excitement, they had the type of room I was looking for.
The rate was $ 269.00 + taxes for a 1 night stay in a Jacuzzi room. A little pricey for me, but I knew this was last minute and that they were likely almost fully booked. Since she had mentioned that others had been considering taking the room, I jumped all over it asking if I could book it with my credit card. The agent asked for my last name and phone number, and told me that she was «too busy» to make the reservation, but that she had taken down my name and number to hold the room, and would check me in as a walk in when I got there — which I said was great, and I let her know that I was less than ½ an hour away.
We arrived at the front lobby within 20 minutes and where told that we had a few options for parking: we could valet the car at a price of $ 26/​night, or we could park across the street in the public parking lot at the going rate at the time. My bf dropped me off to check in and went to find parking.
I walk to the front desk, gave the agent my name, and explained that they were supposed to be holding a room for me. As soon as I said this, I could tell by the look on her face that I was not going to leave impressed. The agent starts going on about how I was not going to be happy, so I stop her there and ask if she had given away the room. She replies by saying no, she had not given away the room, and then began another speech about how there was a glitch in the system. Being that I was pretty annoyed, I barely let her finish before I asked if there was a room available or not. After saying no, but that we could try their sister hotel, I said thank you, but no thank you and left to call back my ride.
I understand that mistakes happen; having worked in the service industry for many years, I am not one to freak out or condemn a company for this type of issue. However, there is a lot to be said for customer service in these types of situations. Had a reasonable discount for a future night stay, or voucher for a free upgrade on my next stay, or any other little thing been offered to me, I would have certainly stayed there another time. But there was nothing offered, not even an apology; just excuses… leaving me with the feeling that they couldn’t care less if I ever stayed there or not. I certainly will not be calling on this hotel again in the future — there are way too many other great options out there.

Super convenient location. In the heart of downtown. About 10min walk from C-​train (although it feels like an eternity during the Calgary winters). Eau Claire Centre is directly across, and it contains Good Earth coffee shop, a theatre, and a bunch of stores.
We had the suite with the futon. Guess who got stuck with the futon? Yup, the only girl in the group. I vouch for — chivalry is dead! Futon is beyond uncomfortable. Request extra blankets and pillows to make it a tad bit better for yourself. Otherwise, you get stuck with ONE pillow — like some plebeian. Thankfully, there were two TVs, one in the bedroom and the other in the living area, so I didn’t have to endure the boys’ awful taste in movies.
They make you pay for wifi which I find absurd in this day and age, especially given that they are a business hotel.
In case you need it: mailbox in the lobby.

This was our second stay at this hotel in the past couple of years. Incredible downtown location, friendly staff, and great food at the hotel’s pub.
We had a small error in our online booking, and the front desk staff corrected it without even asking.
This is the only place we stay at when we’re in town, and I highly recommend it!

My husband and I stayed here for a little romantic getaway and we booked a corner king suite through Expedia. We were very happy with the room, it was clean and comfortable and the weekend rate was very reasonable. The hotel is close to shopping with little need to walk outside with all the connecting ped ways. The nearby restaurants are very good. This was a great place to spend the weekend.

I returned here for 6 nights recently as part of a larger business trip that was preceded by 8 nights up at the Albian Sands Village (North of Fort McMurray) and 1 night at the Calgary Westin. By the time I checked in at the Sheraton, I was already to go back to California and to my lovely Bride. However, the good folks here made me feel right at home, and between their hospitality and the really comfortable and spacious rooms, time passed quickly and pleasantly.
Other highlights included:
— Meeting the gang at Fionn MacCool’s (off the Lobby) for a «wee pint» at the end of the day.
— Waking up early one Sunday Morning to go upstairs and do Laundry. As I entered and turned on the light, I startled a «guest» who was probably sleeping off his night’s merriment. Maybe he was involved with the Corrections Officer’s Banquet that was rocking and rolling during the previous evening?
— Gaining entry to the Starwood Members Lounge for their cash bar and free snacks.
— Happily talking Soccer with a Brazilian Staff person who immediately noticed by FC Barcelona shirt.

This is the only place we stay at when we’re in Calgary.
I can’t add to what Benson has written, except to say that it’s a hop, skip, and a jump away from Princes Island Park — site of the Calgary Folk Music Festival and River Café — both places are worth the trip to Calgary alone.

They were cool about giving me a free dessert at the restaurant because they hadn’t cleaned my room yet, and I had to wait. I arrived at ~4pm, you’d have thought they would have had that done by that time in the afternoon, but they gracefully handled their shortcoming. The room was pretty nice. The bed was comfy, and I loved the pillows. There are 2 decent tvs which would have been good if I had brought kids. The bathroom is enormous for some reason, in case you want to dance around in there. In general everything is in good shape, clean and well kept. The décor is not bad. The location is pretty decent too.
My critiques:
1. It’s a suite and there isn’t really even a mini fridge, just an overstuffed minibar with no room for anything of yours, not to mention the other ridiculously priced items sitting around trying to tempt you to eat or drink them $ 7 for a bottle of water. Really Sheraton? Isn’t it ever enough that people are shelling out $ 300 just to sleep in a room every night? How about a complimentary $ 1.50 bottle of water???
2. The layout kind of feels like you’re in a closet anywhere in the suite, the bathroom is actually the most open room in the place. Suggestion, make the bathroom smaller, get rid of the 2ft thick wall in the middle, and make it a little roomier. Oh and while you’re knocking out that wall, might as well scrap the popcorn on the ceiling, so 80s.
3. Laundry people, you could cut the amount of bleach in the towel laundry by about ²⁄₃ and you’d be in the reasonable range. The towels were ruined by overbleaching to the point that one of them ripped while I was using it, and not because it was so worn out from use/​rewashing, it was still very full of fabric fiber, it was just brittle and abrasive from over bleaching.
4.No free internet? Really? Again, is all of this nickel and diming necessary? It’s not fast enough to bother charging extra for, much less $ 14/​day. The crappy value extended stay hotel I lived in for $ 30/​night had $ 10/​week internet that is twice as fast.
5.Restaurants are overpriced and not that good. ~$ 25 for an ok $ 10 breakfast buffet? Don’t eat anything that isn’t bar safe at Finn McCools. If it isn’t simple as a burger, don’t risk it. Just walk across the street to Joey’s instead, you won’t be sorry.
6. Constant banging and popping of pipes and vents? If you’re sensitive about odd noises it could be annoying.
Overall it was nice. I’d give it 3.5, but it wasn’t an option. If you can handle the goth atmosphere of the Arts hotel it’s cheaper, and still pretty nice.
