Eau Claire Crosswalk

Yep. I’m reviewing a crosswalk… but it’s not just any crosswalk. Have you ever noticed anyone walking diagonally across the intersection at 3^rd St and 2^nd Ave in Eau Claire? I’ve never really paid any attention to it until I started coming through here on my morning jog. Yesterday, there was a lady walking from one corner, diagonally through the intersection to the other corner. I thought «hey! You’re not supposed to do that!» And stuck to my «right» path across the road.
Today, I got stopped at the lights for a lot longer. While I was waiting for them to change (it’ll let one direction of cars go, then another direction of cars, and then all directions of pedestrians can cross), I looked at the lines on the road.
Instead of just corner to corner as a rectangle around the road, they went corner to corner in all directions… including diagonally. Well what do you know! The lady knew what she was doing after all.
When the lights changed this time around, I walked diagonally across the street with confidence. I’m sure the novelty will wear off quickly enough… but for today, it was fun!
