History

Established in 2011.

Springbank Cheese Co — Marda Loop opened it’s doors in May of 2011 and was met with great excitement by residents and local businesses alike. As is the case with all Springbank Cheese Co locations, our store is independently owned and operated. Although THIS particular shop is new, the roots of our business started over 50 years ago. We’re proud of our history and are happy to say that «we know our stuff» so drop on by and we’ll tell you all about it!

Business Owner

Shawn McDonald is the owner of this location and has been in the cheese business for over 10 years. Shawn sort of fell into the cheese business purely by «chance» and never really looked back! Along the way, he had previously spent most of his time working at our 14^th Street location working positions from Stock Boy to Truck Driver, Sometimes Mr. Fixit, and eventually taking over the reigns as Retail and Wholesale Manager. Through his time spent working at various tasks, Shawn developed an intimate knowledge of all things cheese! Working alongside other retailers, chefs and restaurants, Shawn helped many clients to set-​up and establish their own cheese programs and also helped to create specialty menus for some of the cities best and most well-​known establishments. His passion for family and community are the two main reasons why he decided to venture out on his own.
