I came in with a photo of the simple nail design I wanted but with a slightly different shade of colour than the photo, and had a very hard time explaining this to the three people trying to help me. I eventually just gave up and compromised on a glitter for my nails because they just didn’t understand. When it came time to do the nail art, I had to ask the lady to re-​do it numerous times because it looked horrible each time. I eventually compromised with that and gave up because I was so annoyed and had wasted my time there. I ended up removing the nails that night because they looked like something a child would get. The nails also came off very easily.
Unless you’re going to get one shade, I would not recommend this place to any kind of nail art or design. Not Impressed and will not return.

Never had a nail break or chip, and I have been going there almost once a month for the last year. They are friendly and I have always had amazing service. Best to book ahead as some days they can get busy!

I am such a perfectionist that I would probably hate to have me as a client… Or at least I would occasionally roll my eyes as I walked in — errrr you know what I mean. However, Dona was so sweet and patient and checked in with me all the way through such that I loved the end results of my gel nails!!! If I felt a sparkle was a couple millimetres off, she would move it to where I wanted with a smile on her face. LOVE HER! So, even though this place is out of the way for me and there’s not much for ambience there, whenever I go back to Calgary and want to get gel nails, this will be the place for me.

The salon is a bit dated but very sanitary. I had a manicure/​pedicure two weeks ago and my nails were perfect. The ladies were diligent and attentive. The price for everything was reasonable. I will defiantly be going back :)

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I paid for my sister to get her nails done here & they all were chipped & popping off with in a week which has never happened before. She’s very careful. The ladies were eating, farting, picking their butts the entire time we were there it was disgusting. When they overcharged us majorly ($ 60 for acrylic nails with no shellac) we came back and asked if they would please give us a refund. Instead the lady said it was all our fault & refused to refund it. Every time we asked to speak with a manager they said their wasn’t one so finally after 20 minutes of arguing we left & I left my number. They assured me the manager would call ASAP. He has never called & when I called back and asked to speak with him they once again said he wasn’t there. These ladies will scam any innocent girl out of a few bucks. Sad they took advantage of my 15 year old sister. I am disgusted by this place & personally think the place needs to be shut down.

I come here regularly for manicures and pedicures and the service is always super quick and well done. Very nice, clean space with good quality and variety of polish!

They need a more welcoming approach other than yelling if you have an appointment and to pick your color. Yes I know I need to pick a color. Just way too abrupt in their first approach. End of the week and weekends never go, it’s all a big rush and not relaxing at all. I don’t think I will go back.

I would like to say I have been getting UV gel nails for quite a few years now so I have alot to compare too. I have tried 5 different places in Calgary for UV nails and pedicures and Sunsational Nails is by far the best! They have excellent customer service and I have never had so many compliments on my nails. I have had 3 fills on my nails and they have all been done by different ladies yet they are all consistent and look great. Just make sure you book an appointment it is too busy for a walk in!

I was not as impressed with this nail salon as I was my first time. I called for a shellac manicure and the guy said he’d had a space available but I would have to rush over. So I did, and I can honestly say I wish I hadn’t. I get that they want to make money but they actually sat me in a pedicure chair for a mani! At least I got a bit of a massage I guess, but it was crowded and my manicurist had to keep moving out of people’s way. And the UV light machines did not stay balanced on the arms of the chair so I was struggling to hold onto them. Really irritated me because I go get my nails done to actually relax! I was not offered any water like last time. One good point was the lady doing my nails said she didn’t think I needed to pay for a whole manicure (but said she would do it if I wanted no problem), so I saved a few bucks by just getting the shellac.
I will still give this salon another chance but I want to book an appointment and see if that makes a difference.

My UV gel nails look amazing. Not thick or lumpy like other (most) places. Still done with a new full set in an hour. She spent so much time and attention on shaping them that they look and feel like a natural nail.
I will definitely be returning here!

I came to get a shellac manicure today and I’ve never come out of a nail appt so happy! Usually I don’t expect much from nail salons but I was very impressed with this one!

I’m new to Calgary and was in need of a good nail tech. My overall experience here was good. My nails turned out great. Only downside is I was told the wrong price over the phone and was charged more than expected. But I would defiantly go back (if these nails can last through work lol)

Not pleased with the sneaky upsale. I haven’t had nails for years and I wanted to treat myself. I wanted acrylic but apparently «acrylic» sounds like UV gel with shellac. They started with acrylic tips and I’d never had gel before so I didn’t know what they were doing until it was too late. Wasn’t pleased with the gel nails either — super thick and they were totally skimpy with the nail colour. I will never again get gel nails and I certainly won’t be back where I don’t get what I asked for in the first place. They completely ignored what I asked for and put the most expensive nail service they have on me. It wasn’t until I paid that I knew exactly what service I had received. Not impressed!

I came here to get a gel polish application. The nail tech was very friendly and thorough, and kept checking with me throughout to make sure I was happy with her work. Prices are reasonable. The gel polish application is $ 20 ($ 25 if you add nail art) and they have a regular mani-​pedi deal for $ 40. They carry CND and Perfect Match gel polishes, with a reasonable selection of colours. All of the clients seemed happy, and I really liked how the techs all took their time instead of rushing through the service.
Some points to note:
1. They don’t have swatches of their gel colours.
2. They are quite busy, so an appointment is recommended.

I recently had some UV Gel nails applied at a different place and the end result was ‘meh’ with really uneven shaping of the tips. After reading the reviews and looking at the client pics (awesome btw) I decided to give Sunsational a try. They opened at 10AM and by 10:20AM this place was packed. All five pedi chairs and 6 nail station were full. Everyone seemed to have an appointment except me so I am really glad they took me as a walk in.
Tammy was the technican that assisted me and WOW, did she every do a good job. She was totally focused on her work, none of the loud chatter between staff that I usually experience. She got that shellac polish right to edge of the cuticle and she was so percise with her application on the nail bed. The shape that she gave my nails is so even that the left looks almost identical to the right. The best part was that the whole thing cost me $ 25.00!
I would definately recommend booking an appointment because this place seems to be really busy. If the rest of the staff are as skilled and professional as Tammy, I can see why. I just love how my nails look!

I’ve been to your location twice and I’ve loved my nails both times!
Although the stylists don’t speak a lot of English they did try to engage in conversation and made the effort to speak to me and made me feel comfortable.
I’ve had gel polish done at a few other nail salons but nothing compares to CND shellac, the smoothness of this polish is amazing my nails haven’t looked this good in ages :)
The technicians know what they’re doing at this salon!

Let me just start off by saying that this was my first time getting gel nails, so I don’t really have much of a basis for comparison, but I was personally very impressed!
If you’re hoping for a calm, relaxing, spa-​like environment, this is not the place for you. It’s small, cramped, and noisy. None of this matters to me however, as long as I get a good product.
I was about 20 minutes late for my appointment as I got stuck in extremely heavy traffic, but the ladies were very kind and accommodating, which was a wonderful way to start. I got there and I really didn’t have any idea of what I wanted. Their samples were all cute, but weren’t what I was looking for, so I showed them a picture off of Unilocal and asked if they could do that for me, but in different colours. You bet they could. They offered me drinks and then the lovely technician (I believe her name was Helen) set to work. She was very attentive, ensuring the shape and length were good, and making sure to remind me to tell her if the filing drill thingy (sorry, I’m a noob) got too hot. She was friendly and kind, and best of all, she really seemed to know her stuff. She was quick, and skillful, and seemed to really take pride in her work. She really took her time to get all of the fine details just right, and I ended up with a beautiful end result. Like I said, I don’t have much basis for comparison, except what I’ve seen of other peoples’ nails, and frankly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen any better than what I got LOL! Maybe I’m just biased.
One more thing, when I went to pay, the gentleman who helped me (I’m assuming the owner) told me that they can do almost anything if you bring in a picture. Even like that super fancy 3-​D stuff. If you decide to do that sort of thing though, make sure you’re very clear about that on the phone, because he said it will take probably around 4 hours to do something like that. Also, it’ll probably add a chunk to the price haha.
Anyway, that was my experience. I will absolutely recommend them to friends, and I’ll definitely be going back for all of my nail needs.

Huge thanks to the wonderful ladies at Sunsational Nails! Last night was my second visit and I can say you definitely have a new regular. My technician asked all the right questions to ensure she understood exactly what I wanted and my nails look fantastic!

I just got a pedicure from here, and it was excellent. They have a good nail polish colour selection which has lots of trendy options (blues, greens, yellows etc., not just red and pink options that my grandma would get). The pedicure lasted an hour (incl drying time) and the lady who was doing it was very thorough and attentive, and kept checking with me whether the water temp was okay, whether I liked the colour, etc. I like that they have the nail drying machines. The cost of the pedicure was about $ 36 + tip, which I thought was a great deal. I will be back for sure.

Got my nails done there the other day, and they did an amazing job! Friendly ladies!
