The Wedding Pavillion

My boyfriend and I had valentines brunch at The Wedding Pavilion. The food was quite good and they have a lot of variety. I liked the Nutella stuffed French toast. My boyfriend had trouble cutting his roast beef for two reasons. One being that the was meat being cut with the grain instead of against, and two there was only butter knives, no steak knives.
The staff were very attentive and polite. My first qualm was when I inquired if the orange juice was fresh squeezed, he said he believes it is. Well, whatever his «belief» may be, it doesn’t magically make his boxed orange juice fresh. It was clearly store bought. Fresh orange juice is not something to lie about because it is very easy to tell whether or not it is fresh squeezed. I wasn’t offered a selection of bubbly for my mimosa which isn’t that big of a deal but I feel it is still worth mentioning.
The staff were hawking the tables, it felt like we were being watched some of the time. Professional waitstaff should know to only watch their tables in their peripheral vision so as not to disturb the dining experience.
Our waiter brought us the bill claiming «no rush», while my boyfriend was still eating his first plate of food.
The dessert selection was wonderful (carrot cake, banana bread pudding and rum sauce, Oreo cake, crème caramel, assorted cookies and squares, etc).
Overall, it was an alright experience ($ 36 per person, plus booze) but I think if you want a better brunch experience the palliser hotel ($ 59) is a much better choice or yellow door bistro ($ 24).

Though I was not the bride I was in the wedding party and I warn all — BEWARE of this venue. While they may say that it’s like a «one stop shop» — that only works if their staff is on the same page given the # of times you get handed around.
Watch out for sudden price changes that were «incorrect» by another staff member. Don’t always trust the vendors they select — our limousine driver didn’t say congratulations to the bride nor help ANYONE out of the limousine (and the two young junior bridesmaids exited first.
The food was good but the wait staff are young. For a venue that specializes in weddings they should hire or train staff to follow some serving etiquette and take care of the head table. I can’t count the # of times that we had to ask them to do something (like remove plates) that we clearly done and right in front of them.
Heads up — the female photographer is very bossy (we were warned) but when you have to be warned — I’m not sure that’s someone I’d want working with my people at a wedding.
While the bride said «all is well» she was just too nice to deal with any drama… but for the money… my expectations would have been higher.
In the end — while a nice location and good food, the staff leaves much to be desired given this is their business.

We had our wedding here a few years ago now and we loved it. The theme was Simple Elegance and it there is very little I would change about it.
I have a friend who is a florist and as such did our flowers for the wedding. I recall The Wedding Pavillion mentioned at that time it was the prettiest wedding Flowers décor they have had and they took tons of photos.
Things must have changed because when we got married here I ordered my invitations elsewhere and had our cousins do the printing. I would be disappointed to know now I had to go through the Wedding Pavillion for my invitations.
The food was OK (not great — chicken tournedos were dry as was some of the other food, but in the end no one complained), the appetizers were yummy. We had an open bar for the first hour and then a toonie bar the rest of the night. They were very accommodating even to the point of ensuring they had «my» special drink on hand.
We decided to go with the in-​house photographer Lanny and he was fine, did a good job and were pleased with our photos.
We also decided to go with the in house DJ. He on the other hand, even after being given a huge list of song requests weeks in advance, failed to meet with our approval for songs. He did ok, we had a dance instructor in-​house teaching line dancing and 2 stepping since we were married during Stampede, but it appeared he had a very crappy selection of music and just didn’t care about our earlier requests.
We didn’t want the typical head table type set up and had other ideas for how it should be and again they were very accommodating.
Sounds like things might have changed in the past several years — possibly for the worst which is disappointing to hear. I would have given them rave reviews based on our wedding there but if they are getting stingy over silly minor details… I might change my opinion. They clearly make a ton of money off each wedding as it is.
We were NOT charged for arriving early (are you kidding me!!).
In the end it was great when we were married there, expensive but a great place to be married. But if it were now and there are silly rules involved… we would probably change our mind.

Definitely a beautiful venue and convenient in that it’s a one stop shop for a wedding. The ladies restroom is elegant too. It’s not a fantastic location if you need to take a cab home. Other than the beauty, nothing else stood out in my mind as worth the money one would spend to celebrate marriage here. I guess you have the dough, go for it.

I think it is an understatement that The Wedding Pavilion is an elegant, classy place to host your wedding. The interior is absolutely beautiful. There’s no doubt about it. Especially if all you ever wanted is a princess-​like wedding, this is the place.
My friend just got married there last Saturday. Apparently they charge extra if you get there early (even 10 minutes). If there was another wedding going on, I can understand that. I just wish that they are more flexible. So instead of getting a head start to help the bride to get ready, we were all sitting in our car and just wait till it was time to go in.
Their service is O-​K. To me, I would not say it’s spectacular. I mean, how much it costs just to have a wedding ceremony there, I do expect awesome service from them. Their brunch (buffet style) was good. Everyone seemed to have a nice time enjoying their food while waiting to have their pictures taken with the bride and the groom.

LULZ. Why is this place listed under «shopping?»
My sister and my new brother-​in-​law just got married here on Friday. Things for the most part went smoothly and aside from 5 minutes of enormous hail, the weather was beautiful.
Pros:
— Gorgeous location, surrounded by rolling green hills.
— The wedding coordinator was an absolute sweetheart and a total pro.
— The in-​house photographer was EXTREMELY patient with 2 unruly flower girls.
— The limo driver for the bridal party arrived early and didn’t mind when I realized we had to turn the limo around, because I forgot something important back at the house (my Maid of Honor speech! eep!).
— The in-​house videographer had no problem taking on creative suggestions from the best man.
— The food was delicious and they had a vegan meal for me that wasn’t a big pile of bland salad!
— I got carded by a bartender, who then apologized profusely when he saw that I’m in my mid-20’s. Fool! Don’t apologize!
Cons:
— It had rained the night before the wedding and WP promised us a carpet to walk on for the ceremony. Ceremony time: no carpet. My beautiful silver heels sank in to the lawn with every step.
— I had to run across the dining room to flag down a waiter to get ONE hors d’ouerve. And none for Gretchen Wieners. I was starving after the ceremony and official photos! One teeny baguette slice with some tomato spread on it is not going to tide me over for the 3 hour wait for the sit-​down dinner!
— When you have your wedding at the WP, you MUST use their photographer, you MUST use their catering and you MUST use their wedding invitations. This could be great for people that procrastinate about those sort of details, but not so great for someone who likes to have options and is crafty.
— The WP offers a projection screen, but no projector. Also, they have a sound system straight out from 1993. This means we had to bring our own projector (and not everyone just happens to have a projector!) and cables to play a slideshow during dinner. Not only that, I had to hold up a mic next to my laptop’s speaker for people to hear the music that went along with the slideshow.
— While the wedding went fairly smoothly, there seemed to be a TON of waiting around for the official start time for this and that.

All in all, while there were a few hiccups, they provided us with an amazing day for my sister and new brother-​in-​law, and really, that’s the most important thing :).
