Two Paws Up

We started bringing our dog for daycare at the Horton Road location with no issues for the first few months. We decided to drop our dog off at the Manchester boarding when we went away for the weekend. This was when we got our first warning flags. Our dog developed extreme allergies, his mouth turned extremely inflamed and he was limping when we brought him back home.
We continued bringing our dog to the Horton Rd daycare as he had no reactions there and we had paid for a package deal. To our surprise one day there was a sign that said that location was closed. Since there was no way I was bringing my dog to the Manchester location I emailed Two-​Paws for my refund as I still had a few visits left on my daycare package. No response from the owner.
I’d avoid this place.

When Two Paws first opened, the impression I had was one of canine excellence. The facilities were spotless, the programs tailored to suit all types of dogs and not a lick of cash grab commercialism in sight. They wanted what was best for you and your dog and weren’t stooping to cater to your insecurities to get you to buy unnecessary and sometimes costly things. I was on board 100% and was happy to pay their pricier fee, on a regular basis, as a show of support thinking that my fur baby was being well cared for.
Now? Fast forward a couple of years and imagine my surprise when I walk in and discover that the front reception area is filthy, the personnel noncommittal (and I only saw one and not two present) and all I can hear from the backend are some pretty miserable mutts. That alone, is enough for me to change my mind about this place.
But the fact is that lately trying to reach someone by phone is almost impossible… so I’m actively looking elsewhere now, I just don’t think my dog is safe being there anymore. This is a DAYCARE, DAY + CARE, not just a business — so if it’s not safe, what’s the point?

**DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS HERE** — there has been no heat or hot water since spring 2015. Staff pay cheques have been bouncing for over a year and only 3 people remain at the business which could jeopardize your dog’s safety to adequately provide supervision (unless they’re just kenneled for the day).

Unfortunately I didn’t keep a copy of the review I posted on FB. Sadly since there were an increased amount to poor reviews on the FB; all reviews were deleted. That alone should tell you how shady this place is!
We were taking our pup there for 6 months, initially everything was great and we were so happy with them. Then there were a bunch of new people there, the old staff that we knew and trusted were gone. We started seeing changes in our dogs behavior; such as pacing and aggression. I later learned that my dog was in a few altercations that we were never informed of. When I brought up that we noticed he was suddenly very possessive and aggressive with toys we got two different answers from the staff and the owner as to why. When I emailed the owner about my concerns I had to follow up for a week and when i finally got a reply, the response was very generic. I emailed again and requested a refund of the package I had remaining, she didn’t even bother to reply to that email. This Monica clearly has no interest in what is best for the pups, she is only interested in lining her pockets. The current staff she have do not have the proper training on how to handle the dogs. Do yourself and your dog a favor. Don’t bring them to this place. You can’t undo any damage that may be imposed on them. We were lucky to get our pup out of that environment quickly. We got screwed out of $ 200+ bc Monica has ZERO customer service skills, but At least our pup is safe.

I am a total nervous Nellie when it comes to leaving my dogs with other people. Not that I have had any bad experiences but I still get nervous. Two Paws Up was recommended to us by our dog trainer, Jade, from Where’s Your Sit (awesome BTW). The first day I dropped off the dogs was a gong show, I was almost in tears when I left and because I was acting like such a nut my two dogs were like ‘what’s up with mom, she’s nervous” and of course followed suit. Fast forward three months later and my two frenchies are gunning for the front door when we harness them in the morning, they know it’s daycare time. Our female, who is timid by nature, practically drags me through the front door of the daycare in her excitement to get going. The staff are very friendly, Monica is a peach and always let’s me know how my dogs made out through the day. The excitement that the dogs have when we approach Two Paws Up pretty much speaks for itself and I have never had a doubt in my mind when leaving my babies in their care. They also have a new groomer who has a pig named Jillian. Come on, how awesome is that!!!

I had my own dog (yorkie), and a dog we are caring for (shih Tzu) groomed at Two Paws Up today. I am so pleased with the results! We will definitely be back. I was able to see the area where the day care is run and it is a huge space with comfortable flooring for the dogs. Lots of space for them to play. Very friendly staff. Groomer was amazing. Gave me a heads up call 30 minutes prior to my pets being ready to go.

Two Paws Up recently took over the location that was previously «Dog Days and Nights». While the previous owners had been good, Two Paws up has taken it to the next level.
The location is 1000% cleaner than it was before and it always smells great-​no easy feat when there are a bunch of hounds around! The owner, Monica is very friendly and knowledgeable about dogs. She makes sure the dogs have a safe environment to play in and keeps smaller dogs in a separate area from bumbling oafish dogs like mine. She is helpful and if asked, shares great advice on the day to day training of the dogs. Their prices are reasonable and comparable to similar establishments in the city and I really feel like the dogs are safe and happy when they are there.
We’ve used Two Paws up for daycare and for boarding and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services to anyone looking for a place for their dogs. They are conveniently located just outside of downtown (SE) which is handy for dropping them off and picking them up if you live in the south.
The only downside to Two Paws up is how excited the dogs get when they know they are going ;) !
