I am very close to making this 5 stars but I’ll have to try more of the menu first. We got the unagi roll, red and white roll and the combo with tekka, kapa and salmon maki. The combo was very good, for something so simple. Rice was good and the nori was fresh. The red and white roll was very spicy I liked it but it was too spicy for my wife. The unagi was bigger than most and very good. We also got miso and gomae. The gomae was Ok but the miso was very good. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

This is above and beyond my favourite sushi place. The food is always great, the staff are awesome, the service is quick and the prices are reasonable. My husband and I eat here about once a week, even though it’s about a 20 minute drive from our house(longer during rush hour). My tastes in sushi are simple in that I don’t like a lot of the fancy rolls, but I’ve had a few here and they are excellent. Where Sushi Karis really excels though is with the basics. The negitoro roll is just awesome. My husband loves their chopped scallop roll. If you check out this place you will not be disappointed, and may even find yourself turning into a repeat customer.

LOVETHISPLACE! Their rolls are amazingly fresh, lots of sauce and fish(whatever mets product you pay for, they don’t cheap out) is always generously stuffed in the rolls or rice bowls. Their prices are a steal compared to half of the other sushi restaurants in the area-speaking off there are like 8 sushi restaurants on or around Austin. The owners are very kind and polite, always stuffing extra little treats in my hand whenever I leave. The red dragon roll is amazing and the deep fried negitoro roll is my favourite. Sushi pieces are huge and they don’t charge 2 $ for a side of hot sauce or teriyaki like others(bonus!) — rather spend more money on food and a hearty tip! They always customize for vegetarians and vegans too! This place is around the corner on Nelson and Austin, beside the BMO bank and Golden boot restaurant(another MUSTGO– check my reviews!!). They are closed most Sundays and holidays so give the a call. The place is small and super busy at lunch with many businesses in the area, but they have never kept me waiting more then the usual lunch/dinner rush standard times. They also throw in“on the house” applies or tasters once in a while! Check them out!

Great food! And amazing price! I had the pork gyoza and it tasted fresh, and home made. I’d go back just for the gyoza, amazing! The Red Dragon Roll was just as tasty and very fresh.

It’s a cozy neighbourhood sushi place with good food and nice service. This restaurant is right next door to BMO, and a little bit hidden, but it’s a little gem! It’s been here for years and the food and service are consistent. Whenever I feel like sushi, I think of this place. It’s a bit casual(that is, no fancy décor, but it’s nice and clean), and the space is a bit tight. But worth giving them try. They also have lunch boxes and they offer take out.

Our(senior couple and daughter) recent lunch at Sushi Karis was a first-time visit, and in honour of Mom’s birthday. It was fun, the food and service good — overall, a much-enjoyed dining experience and start to celebrating my lady’s big event! I found the quite small in size restaurant to be bright & cheery, very clean and neat, and quiet(music was playing, but volume was always kept low — the way we like it!) — very pleasant surroundings/ambiance. Seating there includes both tables(on one side of the restaurant these could be moved about to accommodate a larger group), and booths — we chose a booth, which was a perfect size for the three of us. And not to be missed, the small, and so cute«boutique» bathroom! Service to our table was very friendly and accommodating — we ordered a few appetizers first, and then the remaining dishes about half-way through these starters. The way we like to order, and it worked perfectly. What we ordered: — appetizers: agedashi tofu, tako yaki, assorted tempura(8 pieces — prawn, yam, squash, broccoli), and prawn tempura(6 pieces) served with the other dishes. These are some frequently ordered favourites of ours, and although these were not ‘the’ best we’ve tasted, I would find it difficult to find very much to fault their offerings — we enjoyed them all. — sashimi: assorted sashimi(10 pieces — sockeye salmon, other salmon, tuna, octopus, squid). A very nice layout of sashimi, and everything very fresh and tasty. And at the price, a real winner! — rolls: BC roll(bbq salmon, cucumber, with teryaki sauce on top), crunch roll(prawn tempura, crab meat, cucumber, avocado, with crispy tempura crumbs). We thought the tempura crumbs on the crunch roll were a touch greasy, but I, and the others sure enjoyed and found some of the new-to-us tastes on both rolls to be interesting. — dessert: in honour of my lady’s birthday, the chef prepared a small sushi cake — sweet sushi rice, with some crab inside, and the entire top covered with small pieces of sockeye salmon — very pretty, and so delicious!!! We enjoyed this dining experience at Sushi Karis — ambiance was much to our liking, food was very decently-prepared and presented, and the service perfect to our needs. Another quite local to us restaurant. I picked it for a birthday lunch, and it worked out so well.

This place is 5 minutes away from me and I decided to try it out since my best friend always talks about their amazing House Roll. Cheap, fairly quick service. Sushi has quality! It’s not just a big roll of RICE. Perfect for a quick lunch. Place is small and and clean.

I just moved to the area and I was looking for a nearby sushi place. I found this place by just driving around. It’s really small and tables are limited. I went around 6 and of course all the tables were almost full. It was clean so I didn’t mind the small size. There was only one waitress working and the small restaurant was packed so it took a while to get a menu. Everyone around us looked like they were waiting for their orders as well. The menu was decent and fairly priced. I ordered an ebi sunomono and the assorted sashimi plate. The ebi sunomono was amazing — the best I’ve tried to date. It was a large bowl with a lot of shrimp and the noodles were perfect. The assorted sashimi was decent. I was impressed by the variety but the tuna was a little frozen in the middle. I was pleased though considering the price. My mom ordered the crunchy roll. The tempura inside was fresh and it was quite a big roll. We waited a while for service but I am willing to go back perhaps when it’s not so busy. The food for the price was really good and there’s obviously a reason why this place was packed and there were people willing to wait an hour for a table.

Yum, yum, yum! I am so happy that I found Sushi Karis! They have some of the best sushi I have ever had. Try their crunch roll — you will not be disappointed! And their service is always great, too :)
