This place used to save my university life especially at night when I’m starving. They run open till 2am or 3 am back then, and I really really appreciated. But when it comes to food, and the quality it’s not really good. The sushi is below average and I didn’t enjoy their sushi rice either — very inconsistent and too much rice in nigiri. Because What a Sushi was my life saver I want to give 4.5÷5.0 but for the food itself I can’t help but giving them 2⁄5.

I quite like this little place, well to be honest I’ve never been there in person, but I’ve ordered lots of takeouts from them. One of the few sushi place that offers delivery for anything over 20 bucks. The pricing and flavour are all decent here and lots of choices. I like the sauce they use for all of their dishes. Goes very well with beer :)

When they first opened I was estactic! Sushi DELIVERY! How rare, and with debit at the door woot woot! The prices were great, portions great and the food was quite good, except a small handful of items I would not order again. For sushi delivery I was just happy they were half decent! Then ordered just recently again for the first time in quite awhile. HOLYMOLY who jacked the prices?! My usuall $ 50 order was $ 64! In all fairness, the food was awesome this time, yummy, but prices have gone up way to much, when I looked at my bill there was a big difference between my take out menu and the prices: GOMAE up from $ 3.25 to $ 3.95 = XTRA $ 1.40 when ordering for two IKAKARAGE up from $ 3.95 to $ 4.95 CHICKENKARAGE up from $ 3.95 to $ 5.95 ASSTTEMPURA up from $ 7.95 to $ 8.50 BEEFTERIYAKI up from $ 8.75 to $ 9.50 FAVORITECOMBO up from $ 8.95 to $ 9.95WOW!, These aren’t just .10 or .25 price increases these are .50 to $ 1 and even $ 2 increases on some items! Not very smart, leaves you feeling very ripped off. I see that they have made the common mistake to shoot themselves in the foot by increasing prices to try and make more money when in fact they just end up chasing away the customers they already have. Boo :(

Solid and good enough for your sushi craving, more of a one-off or to take a friend you haven’t seen for a long time lol, as it ain’t no date-material place. But it’s fast and cheap, casual atmosphere, and surprisingly, clean unisex washroom. free wifi. oh, to the food; ordered the deep fried prawn tempura with avocado, spicy mayo and tobiko, it’s a good crunch and for 8 pcs for $ 8, it can’t be beat. This will cost over $ 10 in DT Van. They deliver fairly late past midnite even. It’s a bit hidden off the main road, so best you turn right into the plaza, up the hill and it’s on your right, in the corner. Sure hoped the owner negotiated a wicked lease because of this. small resto, about 8 tables.

After three bad experiences, I will not be ordering from What a Sushi again. 1) I am a vegan. I made them aware of this issue and they said they could accommodate, but the first time my order contained both fish and fish flakes. 2) The second time I placed an order online through Just Eat, and they accepted my order but never delivered it. Apparently they decided to close midday. 3) the third time I ordered it arrived late and all of the sushi was flavourless. There are much better sushi places in the area(including those that deliver), so there is no need to waste your time or money on this place.

Very good. HUGE rolls and very reasonable price. Quite delicious. Friendly service. Only reason they didn’t get 5 stars is because they don’t have sockeye salmon and I hate farmed salmon.

This evening, ordered via JustEat for the 4th time. Past experiences had been good. This time the food took one hour and twenty minutes to arrive. No courtesy call was made to us during this time, and although we did get one«rescheduled» email, they were late for that eta as well. I called and was told the driver would be there in 5 minutes. Long explanation about how 5 orders had come at the same time.(I’m not very sympathetic since all that means is poor resource management for a Friday dinner rush.). If I had known it would have been that long, I would have simply ordered from somewhere else. The driver delivers the food with a $ 4 refund for the salad since he’s dropped the salad dressing on the way up. Irritating, but these things happen. The driver leaves and we open the food. Freezing cold — not surprising after the long wait. Notice that there is no soy sauce for the sushi(no big deal, we have) and no teriyaki sauce for the tofu teriyaki dinner. That IS a big deal. You’ll agree if you’ve ever tried to eat tofu teriyaki without the teriyaki sauce. Call the location back and explain all of the above. I’m told they’ll send the driver back, but I’m not clear on if they’re just sending the sauces or resending the order. I suppose it’ll be a surprise. A surprise it is! One hour and thirty minutes later no one has arrived. Figure I’ll take matters into my own hands, get into the car and head over to the restauraunt. 7 minute drive.(SEVEN minutes!). Get there and three employees are inside talking; one outside on her cell phone. Delivery car is parked in the lot. No customers at all. I show them my bill and ask them to explain why, three hours after my order, I still don’t have a complete meal. At this point, I just want to understand what went so horribly wrong. No one has any explanation as to why they never came back out as promised. One goes into the same story about how 5 orders came at once but I still don’t see the relevance, considering the 7 minute drive and the blatant disregard to send someone out the second time as promised. We all quickly realize that they don’t have an answer for my very simple questions, so the manager(owner?) offers to refund me half of my order price — $ 15. I’m speechless at this point. Rather than explaining to them the importance of customer service and the customer experience, and how being given a half-refund just to shoo me out of the empty restauraunt is as rude as telling me to get lost, I leave. No matter how great the food(general comment, not saying the food is amazing here), it’s not worth being treated so poorly. This will be the last time I order from this restauraunt. Picked up takeout from another place on the way home. (Note: times mentioned are understated, not exaggerated.)

Order them regularly. Through just eat. Always get sunomono. Chicken teryaki or chicken karage donburi. Always very good. Its cheap too. 20 $ for meals for the day. Im not a huge sushi fan. But maybe this place will«turn» me towards sushi one day. In the meantime the teryaki and sunomono will do. Haha. Also if you ask for teryaki or soy sauce they dont charge you extra which is nice. The small issue i have is perhaps with the delivery method. The soy sauce or teryaki sauce seems to spill abit in the bag alot of the time. Which makes the napkins and chopsticks all soggy. If i could suggest something it would be to tape the lids onto the sauces so they dont spill. The food and service and price is all good otherwise. I would go here anyday and take friends or family.

I also ordered through and their food wasn’t half bad! The chicken teriyaki and chicken karage was delicious. I wasn’t a huge fan of the unagi don, I think mostly because I was expecting more of a smoked eel and it was a bit too chewy for my liking. Delivery was fast too, though, which is always good!

I ordered through and delivery was very prompt. The rolls were tasty and well made. The before was average in size and of reasonably good quality. The previous review regarding the rice-less teriyaki speaks more about the customer than the restaurant. Ordering ‘teriyaki’ will often get you just the meat and sauce. Ordering a ‘teriyaki don’ will include rice.

One of the best I have tried! At first I thought wow these kids are young running this place. Then when I got the food home I was really blown away by the presentation and the skill that went into making our food. We had the Dynamite Rolls and the Spicy shrimp roll(both excellent) and some Beef and Chicken Teriyaki. The teriyaki was good because it wasn’t slathered in too much sweet sauce as most places try and get away with. All in all very impressive. I will be back for sure.
