I’ve been going here for lunch almost daily since starting a new job in the building. When I was looking for reviews of places to go for lunch, I came across this place. The reviews where a bit on the«meh» side. Needless to say when I showed up, I was very surprised. The first day on the job, I stopped down for a club and fries. It was really good, probably one of the better ones that I’ve had. I spoke with owner later in the week and he told me that he taken over the business only 3 weeks prior. Many of my colleagues commented on the huge improvement in food quality. The main fare in this place is sandwiches, burgers and the like. They tend to have a daily special, but I usually stick to the sandwiches, burgers, or an occasional poutine. My only real criticism of this place is that some of prices are a bit high. Cookies and other baked goods go for double what they would normally. Overall, I like Belmont Café. It’s a good place to go for a quick snack or lunch. Recommended.

Belmont Café is a nice little place to relax, have a coffee, and enjoy some toast as I did this fine morning. The staff were polite and friendly, and the place was warm, clean, and welcoming. I’ll definitely be going there in the future.

First impression: this is a «mom and pop» shop that specializes in coffee and lunch for the nearby office workers. i’ve actually lived fairly close for a few years but had never been until recently. Part of that is the hours, M-F, 8 – 3. They usually weren’t open at times when I’d be likely to go. But I had a few free days lately so I thought I’d give it a try. The first thing I noticed when I walked through the door? It smells delicious here. I don’t think it’s any one thing, I think it’s a combination of all the various menu items. It wasn’t as noticeable subsequent times so I don’t know quite what it was. My initial visit, I just grabbed a quick brownie and drink. The brownie was large by anyone’s standards. A good brownie, rich and chocolatey with a definite home-made feel. Delicious. My second visit, was a simple breakfast bagel and tea. Nothing to write home about but very enjoyable. My third visit, I tried a falafal wrap for lunch with a side of fries. The wrap was good(though falafel was a bit dry). The fries… could use some work. If there were a 2.5, that’s probably what this place’d be getting. I’m sure they have their loyal customers — In fact, I know they do because every time I was there the staff had a conversation with one of them and that’s a good thing. — but I probably won’t be returning on a regular basis. What pushed them up to a 3 then? Well, it’s the staff. As I said, they actually know their customers. And they’re genuinely friendly(though not overly outgoing).
