Fish and chips were well overcooked. Batter was hard and fish almost appeared like it was over microwaved. Waitress was good but should have questioned why my plate was still full…

My boyfriend and I rarely go to Montana’s. When his family was in town and suggested here we agreed to go. We won’t be returning as this was already giving it a second chance after a terrible chefs salad lunch last visit. Tonight we dined with three couples and two children. The children’s food came way before everyone else’s… No big deal. All the rest was individually slow and one completely forgotten. My boyfriend and I both got medium rare steak(top sirloin and the grand) neither one really enjoyed it. Our friend who didn’t have food for half of the meal got a 15% off coupon for the next visit. Like f$*# we’ll be going back. Poor service, mediocre food. Not worth the money. If you’re looking for a good steak in the crossing go to Jack Astors

what can I say? it’s a steak house chain. if you been to one Montanas, you been to them all. if you been to any sports bar chain, you’ve been to Montanas. we’ve been there a few times, I was surprised by how good the steak dip sandwich was. we went back there with an appetite and I got the ribs(which they push as a high-end item on the menu), it was like jerky. tough, dry with barely little meat on the bones. they just weren’t very fresh. I regret not saying anything, especially since I paid top dollar for them. the entrée’s were nice, we got a sampler and the little ribs were okay. we left full but barely and for $ 70, we should have been either blind drunk or requiring a stomach pump for how much bbq that’d buy anywhere else. it’s a sports bar. go there for some watered down fountain beer and cheese sticks, don’t go there for a meal.

I had the chicken and waffles and I was not disappointed. I’ve read about bad service here but to be honest I think they are just extremely hungover on this Sunday evening…

Service is very slow. It took more than five minutes before a server asked us for our drinks. She was nice though. Kapow shrimp is really good and served after 15 min of waiting. But at $ 12 per serving I think is a little bit too much. We were there for lunch so we ordered from the lunch menu which arrived after half an hour of waiting. Jambalaya wAs soupy and had very citrus taste but the reuben sandwich was really good. Service was really poor though they seemed so friendly. Food is too expensive.

There are few foods that can make me throw my guts up, and Montana’s is included in that bunch. I asked for a medium rare steak, and got a burned piece of meat, and it was hard as rubber. The waiter forgot my mothers soup, and messed up my fathers order, and his ribs were«Harder than muddy shoe leather», and they still charged extra for it. Although this does sound like a bad review, this place is hit-or-miss. Last time I went to Montana’s, I had an AMAZING steak. Anyway, it really depends on how much of a work ethic the staff have. All and all, 1⁄5 stars for me. Have a great day, Unilocal

When you are part of a family with young children it limits your restaurant choices, and being to Montana’s before I knew it was family friendly restaurant. Unfortunately this time at Montana’s it wasn’t a great a time as we had before. I don’t know how often they change their menu but this time around the options weren’t as varied as it was before(salmon, rotisserie chicken, artisan burgers etc.). Along with their staple items(Pasta and salad), every other option was made with BBQ sauce, it limited our choices for a night out meal,(why order chicken Alfredo and Cesar salad, when you can eat it at home?) We ordered. It took about 40 min. for our food to come and the kid were getting restless. Our food was good, but it was nothing unique about the taste, we ordered spinach dip for the table and they did bring us extra pita chips when we still had dip left over I don’t know if they charged us for them though) the BBQ sauce was a little over powering for the hamburgers that were ordered, that is it was all I could taste compared to the other toppings, the Goat cheese penne pasta was bland, BBQ pulled pork was enjoyed, and the kids loved their chicken fingers, so this time around the reviews are mixed.

I’ve been to Montana’s before, food it’s always good & worth the price. Today I tried their pot roast dinner& it was amazing! Didn’t even need a knife to cut the meat, it was melt — your — mouth delicious. Definitely recommend it on your next visit.

Although I have yet to indulge and try any of the entrées available at Montana’s, there are, however, two items on their menu that my wife and I have returned for on several occasions — items we absolutely love(and I do stress LOVE): the appetizers KAPOW! Shrimp and Four Cheese Spinach Dip. For our palettes, these two items are, to use the oft-used phrase, «to die for!» And my mouth is watering as I write this. Sigh! Unlike the unfortunate negative experience some previous commenters have had with their visit to this particular location, I guess we have been extremely lucky — we have always had exceptional service and will definitely visit again. Afterthought: I’m pretty sure that the shrimp in the aforementioned appetizer is prepared from frozen. As much as I love the dish as it is presently served, I would really like to see how it would taste if the shrimp was fresh. Other then that, I still have to give this appetizer a big KAPOW!

Wonderful server, horrible food I got the chicken penne and side salad the chicken tasted like mush and fat I picked every piece out the only enjoyable part was the salad, my friend got the sirloin streak medium rare it came out burnt and was the size of a fast fry, way over priced frozen food… the only nice part was our lovely server.

I was just told a 40 min wait. We chose to sit at the bar instead. Behind us was an empty booth for 2. It stayed empty for 15 minutes while we sat at the bar. This place is brutal. I don’t know what they are saving empty tables for. There’s like 4 couples at the bar because we didn’t have a table available.

Despite me being a vegetarian(pescetarian to be more specific), and Montana’s being a steakhouse… I really enjoy their food! They have a few options and I’ve tried a couple different things. They have delicious salads and their veggie burger is one of the best ones I’ve had! Prices are reasonable and service is usually pretty decent(only once did we have to wait 15 minutes for our bill to be brought to us, other times our servers were pleasant and on top of things). I’ll be back!

I am nauseous writing this. Had Portobello steak. Very average taste at luke-warm to cold temp. Did not sit well(sick when got home). Un-digestable. Dinner was bought for me so I did not make a fuss but will not choose to go back to this restaurant. The burger my fellow guests ordered looked good– but received cold fries. Not at all worth the price.

My incredible generous and awesome brother, and his soon to be wife, came down from Fredericton to help me move! It was their last night in Hali… Dartmouth, so we decided to go to a «sit down» restaurant for some yummy eats. I let them pick the place, and they picked Montana’s. They frequent there somewhat regularly(in Fredericton, though) my brother is a HUGE fan of their all you can eat ribs! It is $ 26-$ 28+ for the all you can eat ribs special. It comes with a side of your choice of fries, baked potato or rice with coleslaw and cornbread. My brother and my partner both went with this special. I tried a rib from both of their plates; the apple butter ribs were the best, hands down! Us two girls didn’t go with the messy rib dishes, and they were messy. Their menu has a big pile of both average and unique chain food restaurant options. At her recommendation I ordered the Chipotle Firecracker burger with fries and got their new ‘fry dip’ — I’m not entirely sure what the fry dip was, but I certainly dipped all of my fries in it, it was that good! The burger was pretty good too, meaty and flavourful! It was an expensive dinner, around $ 125.00 + tip for 4 adults, but when we factor in exactly how many orders of ribs the boys ordered, it’s not so bad! Service is average for a chain restaurant, they’re friendly and attentive, but nothing above average. Unless it’s your birthday, and the night we went, it just so happened to be at least 4 people’s birthday(and I’m not exaggerating) we heard the service staff sing their special Montana’s birthday song two too many times.

The only two goods things about our meal was the chicken taco and our server Nickie was pleasant. Other then that, the bartender(not sure of her name) had an attitude and we felt like we were imposing. Even the couple next to us were commenting on her lack of attention to the customers at the bar. They waited for their drinks for 10 minutes, then she forgot they ordered them and asked again what they ordered. The pager did not work and we were told none of them actually work, they just go by the number. The manager walked around with his thumb up his ass doing nothing and looked oblivious to anything going on around him. Our meals came and we had no utensils or napkins, we asked for those. My husbands Briskett was dry and tasteless and our fries were cold, plus it took 45 minutes to get our meal. It will be a very long time if ever before we go back.

You know, I really enjoyed this place. Most restaurants I go to with my girlfriend I find what I order to be bad to mediocre at best, but from a place that has gotten mediocre reviews on Unilocal,I actually enjoyed what I ordered. I ordered the Mediterranean Goat Cheese Chicken, which came with sliced carrots, rice, and broccoli. The chicken was covered in two delicious sauces that really complimented each other; a red pepper and tomato sauce, and a goat cheese an spinach sauce. The rice was good, and the carrots and broccoli were good too. The interior was nice, very hunting themed. It’s seemed like a good place to get together with two or more people. The waitress seemed upbeat and nice so that was a plus.

Steaks and ribs were good, but skip the chicken. I don’t think I’ve had drier chicken in my entire life. I even asked for dark meat… I shudder to think about how dry the white meat would have been. Portions were enormous. The corn bread was great too.
