Tweed & Hickory is a very strange place. From the outside, it has name-brand fashions in the window, strategically chosen to lure in young folks with labels like Bench and Lacoste. From the inside, however, the store is clearly targeted at the older, richer demographic both in style and price point. On the plus side, even if you don’t dig the fashion you can entertain yourself in the back section full of housewares. Think kitchen gadgets a la Cucina Moderna, coffee appliances, and even nice, modern dishes. Some staff here are quite helpful when looking for sizes or advice, but definitely swing a little far toward the sales side of things when push comes to shove. I’m not sure if they do work on commission, but you’d sure think so.

Tweed & Hickory is nothing what you think. I am curious as to exactly what this store was and went in to have a look around. I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice variety in the store. They carry all brand named merchandise, Jones New York, Tommy etc. The prices are average for the lines of clothing they carry. They have a large variety of clothing, everything from formal, business, casual and some really chic pieces. You certainly can achieve a lot in this store. They have a wonderful section in the back with kitchen wares, linens, gadgets, pots and coffee makers. There was a section in the back, clearance, they had some great bamboo bowels, red, they were jumping out at me. I was very impressed with this store and happy that I have added it to my list.

Tweed and Hickory from the outside looks like a clothing store. But when you walk in you find more then just clothing. Right of the store is women’s and left is men which house some very high quality names such as Diesel jeans to a nice Tommy Hilfiger suit or Jack Victor which I am not familiar with. I love the back of the store where they have all the nic nacks and kitchens products from peelers to knives to pots and pans. As well buy 1 item 15% off buy 2 items then 20% off and so on. They have some great gift ideas if you are stuck trying to buy something for that someone who is very hard to buy for. I did walk out empty handed but will be back to this location.

The first time I went to Dartmouth Crossing I just thought that Tweed & Hickory was just a clothing store. The truth is, my favorite part… and the one I return to often runs along the back of the store. It’s the perfect place to buy gifts for every foodie you know… a corner of terrific cookbooks, linens for the kitchen and dining room, serving pieces, an entire wall of utensils. Pots and pans, knives, cutting boards… and today I saw some stunning pizza peels. From the electrical appliances(griddles, to coffee & espresso makers, food processors, stand mixers and more) to the tiniest cookie cutters, you’ll find things to delight you. This is where I shop for hostess gifts… especially for those who don’t drink. Besides, anyone can bring a bottle of wine or some flowers, but a martini shaker or funky oven mitts to match the kitchen… really show you care. And I forgot to mention the best part — really reasonable prices!

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably passed by Tweed and Hickory a few times before, wondering what’s inside and what the store is all about. Up until now, I had a preconception in my head that the store was only oriented towards the older crowds so I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and saw a rack of super fun and shiny tees that immediately grabbed my attention. These t-shirts rocked! They were great, they were purple, they were super cute, and they were $ 125!!! Yikes… $ 125 for a t-shirt. I nearly fell over. I couldn’t even imagine spending that much — on a t-shirt at that… After checking out the women’s clothing, I continued to peruse the store and was intrigued to discover that the store actually sells much more than just significantly over-priced men’s and women’s clothing… They also offer an assortment of kitchen products and bath and body. The Bath & Body section seemed pretty basic with all of your different lotions and gels that you’d typically find in a Body Shop or other major bath shop. The Kitchen section, however, was a little more interesting. They sold a lot of unique little gadgets including a Pepper(the vegetable) Holder, that was shaped like an over-sized pepper designed to hold chopped peppers inside until they’re ready for use. This little gadget was much more reasonably priced than the clothing and was available for $ 6. Overall, I found the store to be an experience in itself but I don’t anticipate that I’ll be back there anytime soon — unless of course I win the lottery, than we’ll see…
