Food is pretty good and their patio is even better. Better view of the river than sharkey’s forsure!

A nice little pub in Ladner, with great dockside views from some tables. Service is good. Food can be good or substandard, depending on what you order. I think that the burgers are good. My dining partner was once quite disappointed by the Greek salad. For my tastes, this is a better food choice than next-door Sharkey’s.

Matthew B has got it WRONG. Sorry, Matthew B. I don’t want to start a Unilocal fight, but I just don’t think that two stars is a fair rating for Speed’s. This is a perfectly normal little pub that caters to the locals of Ladner, myself being one of those locals. The food is solid, including delicious burgers(which happen to be on special on Wednesdays for 5 bucks). The wings are bountiful and cheap, and the chowder is down right delicious, damnit! The service has always been great, and sure, Speed’s MAY cater to a more geriatric crowd than some may be used to, but I like a little senior with my salad(HO-YEAH). No. I’m kidding. That was inappropriate. Ladner is alive and kicking at Speed’s. It’s right on the water so you can watch the boats, smile at the toothless fishermen, and devour a delicious burger. That sounds pretty damn good to me… so excuse me while I go eat these deep fried pickles.

Diane’s got it right; this is a quirky little bar in Ladner. I’ve been a few times because friends like to go there. I’d say everything is average; average prices/service/menu. Although, you can get deep fried pickles here, and I haven’t seen them on the menu anyplace else in the Lower Mainland. Skip Speed’s if you’re cruising for a date(unless you’re in the mood for a new grandmother). Skip Speed’s if you’re looking for a lively pub as well. I could honestly hear someone reading the paper when I was there on a Friday night. Go to Speed’s if you need a beer and everything is closed on Sunday. Or if you’re tired of cooking and are too lazy to leave Ladner.(And in that case, I’d recommend Sharky’s)
