This place is so great if you want fish N’ chips. It tasted so fresh and so good. We were told by the waitress that the fish is brought in daly from local Ladner fishing boats. The staff was very nice and friendly. They made me and my company feel very welcome.

This is a great place to visit on a warm summer evening with your friends on the patio… tho beware of the mosquitos! They always have warm blankets to give to cuddle up in. The atmosphere inside the restaurant isn’t quite as nice as the patio unfortunately so during the colder months it’s not as desirable of a location. The food is kind of your standard fish & chips, burgers and pub fare but it’s always been tasty and well cooked. Plus their drink specials are also super yum!

We had a few things go wrong, but our server worked to make it right. Even mistakes proved to be tasty. The food is very good and fresh. We found the other Unilocal reviews on the ferry ride back from Victoria, and decided they were discribing the best place for 6 hungry men. Luckily we had GPS, otherwise us California’s would never have found this gem off the beaten path.

Sharkey’s has it all — atmosphere, location, and a great beer selection! It is one of those places where you second guess your order before getting your food, because everything coming out of the kitchen looks incredible! I ordered the Cioppino, and it was a winner from start to finish! The base was flavourful and light, and they sure don’t skimp on the seafood! The garlic toast and caesar salad were also delicious. Next time I am in Ladner, it will be a no-brainer to visit Sharkey’s!

Best restaurant in Ladner! Patio is great in the summer, inside could use a bit of an update… cod bites are my favourite. Nothing is greasy, the batter is light and fries are great!

It is rare in the lower mainland I can mention price in a review as a positive,. but Sharkey’s is a bit cheaper than most pubs around these parts. The good news is that this doesn’t seem to sacrifice quality or service. This place has an awesome patio,. that is where you want to sit, not so much in the dated indoor part(unless you like Captain Highlighner style). The food offered is beyond the regular pub fare for 2 reasons: they have a number of healthy salads that don’t just pay lip service to pacify vegetarians and health conscious people,…AND,. they are a seafood place so nothing is some frozen rehashed meat thrown on a bun. This is real food, but you can still get your unheart-smart fish and chips if you like,. only in the good way. I had a salmon filet sandwich and it was fantastic. My dad had a salad that looked awesome. The beer selection here is good. Come on a sunny day,. I now have a place to pair with a visit to Westham Island.

I love this spot! Friendly staff… quick service. great deck. and awesome food. Although decidedly a seafood restaurant i ordered the hunter chicken and was blown away. I have had it on one visit and craved it till i had it again. Just as good as the first time! My husband loves the oysters and ladner express too.

Great seafood place with lots of atmosphere. I had the mussels and my partner had the oysters which were both delicious! A very busy place so get there early enough.

Second time I’ve been here in the past 12 months or so. It’s been a good experience both times. While the place is somewhat dated for décor, the service and food make up for it. I really like their selection of seasonal beers that feature local breweries in BC and the northwest region of the US. The service is great and very accommodating for kids. A great menu selection for children and the staff were very friendly to my kids. I sense this is a favorite hangout for locals. The place was 75% full upon arriving and there was a ton more people waiting for a table when we were leaving. The staff as I sad were great. Very friendly and prompt. As for the food — it was as I expected. Using local seafood and ingredients. I got the Ciapponcia — the spelling is wrong and their website sucks no menu!!! Anyways… It was fantastic. It was loaded with seafood and tasted great. It was a great meal for one person. I also tried their clam chowder. It was good but not the best chowder I’ve had. I am impressed by this place now all they need to do is update the décor and they will be rocking even more.

An old friend was in town briefly, picking up a boat in Ladner to bring it down to Florida. I brought him for lunch at Sharkey’s, knowing that their food was dependable. It did not disappoint. I had the calamari, slaw and chips. He had cod bites, chips and chowder. The chowder was inhaled, cod was too plentiful to finish. The calamari was a little bland for my taste but you could not fault the cooking. We chatted about old times. A crowd came in with their paws dogs in training. The place continued to fill up. Service was always friendly and attentive. Well worth the trip.

I’ve eaten there twice now across the years, and have been impressed neither time. The last time, I ordered the cod & chips. The fish was obviously frozen – not unavoidable this time of year. However, the interior was barely cool, and definitely mushy. I considered not eating it at all after the first few bites, and actually worried a bit about food poisoning.(Fortunately, it was not toxic.) The chips were so-so. My partner had the shrimp flatbread, and was disappointed that the bread came cold rather than being heated. On the other hand, the service as good. Ambience is good or substandard depending on where they seat you.

I love Sharkey’s! We have been coming here for years, basically every time we are in the neighbourhood and hungry, this is the place we eat. Great menu, decent prices, love the patio. Sometimes the service is a bit slow but overall, it’s a good experience and a nice change of pace from the chain type seafood eateries in the«big city»

Came here last night for dinner with momma bear — it’s 2 for 1 cod and chips, if you get a drink! Sweet! Fish was panko-breaded, the best kind of breaded! Cod was a little overcooked for my liking, but better a little on the rubbery side than on the«Am I going to die from food poisoning» side, right? Chips were freshly made, crips, thickcut and overall delicious. Tartar sauce was homemade and awesome. No complaints. Especially about the price! Some of the dishes I saw at other tables looked good too. Will not hesitate to come back again!

My veggie burger was very good but I’m here to write about the beer list. WAYTOGO! Not only do they have 10 good beers on tap(mostly local craft but some Northwest and european too) plus one local cask beer but they also have an impressive craft bottled beer list. Add to that a nice deck facing Ladner Harbour and prompt, friendly staff and you’ve got a winner of a place.

The Curvy Gourmet gets it right; warm hospitality, and awesome food. Brought my family here who were visiting from Los Angeles & Miami(two great seafood cities) and they all enjoyed it. They have a solid selection of beers and a huge food menu. We ended up trying a bunch of different dishes, but in the end the cod fish & chips were amazing. Top notch batter, cooked perfectly. Check out the other reviews for some other great suggestions as well.

We were in the area to visit the West Coast Seeds store, and spotted Sharkey’s while driving in. It was lunchtime, so we decided to try it. I ordered a salmon burger(the one without wasabi sauce) with roasted garlic, and my companion ordered cod fish and chips. Mainly the style of food is basic, but they do basic extremely well. My salmon was perfectly moist, not like what you sometimes get in a salmon burger. The tomatoes were good quality in mid-June. The sauce was not generic. The roast garlic extra was $ 1, and it was quite a lot of garlic – say half a head. My companion’s cod was also exquisite, somehow better than most fish and chips, though I don’t know why. The fries weren’t the best fries we’ve ever had, but they were perfectly adequate – absolutely no sad or yucky fries in the bunch. If the fries had been a notch higher, I would give this place 5 stars. The service was also friendly, peppy, attentive but not excessively so. Looks like a popular place – I saw one woman leaving with three large bags of takeout. If I ever have a reason to be in Ladner again, I will definitely be stopping at Sharkeys.

Growing up in Alberta meant that the freshest seafood I enjoyed was beautiful rainbow trout caught out of Spring Lake and pan fried in our campsite. Pretty blissful really. When it came to lobster and crab, it was Red Lobster all the way. Although most west coasters cringe at the thought of their only source of seafood being their local Red Lobster. Being that we are surrounded by marinas and multiple sources of fresh-from-the-boat seafood. Since moving to BC, I have been spoiled. I first discovered really amazing fresh fish dinners at the romantic A Kettle of Fish in downtown Vancouver. As of Sunday October 17th2010, after 31 years of service to our city they closed their doors. I always try to have a place to bring all my relatives and visitors where they can experience a true west coast meal packed flavor as close to the water as possible. A Kettle of Fish was my place. I have since then been on the hunt for a new haunt for my seafood fixes. Nestled on the docks in Ladner is what could be mistaken for a common pub and restaurant. What a perfect example of how not to judge a book by its cover. Within the doors of Sharkey’s Seafood Bar and Grille you will find above the bar service, warm hospitality, and awesome food. I highly advise starting your meal with a flavorful cocktail made with fresh fruit and an order of the cod bites. The cod has been battered lightly and flash fried so they are super crispy without being oily at all. The ideal fish and chips served with the zing of tartar sauce. Pairing the zing of the tartar sauce with the cod and a fresh watermelon cocktail is the perfect match. My fix at A Kettle of Fish was their Cioppini. Lucky for me it is also available here and it’s delicious! A hot pot with a tomato based sauce and packed to the gills with a crab leg, salmon, scallops, calamari, mussells, clams, and tiger shrimp. Probably the best option for the ultra-indecisive such as myself, a little bit of everything in one dish. This is the ultimate comfort food for the seafood lover. I always end up taking part of this home with me and use it as a pasta sauce base the next day, so amazing. So although I have been there a few times and have made it my «must visit» location for my visitors from out of town. I NEVER get anything other than the Cioppini when I go there. I look at the gorgeous stuffed fish entrees and I am tempted by the seasonal specials, but alas I cannot stray from my favorite. Luckily I bring willing participants who gladly let me try a bite of their meals for taste testing research purposes. Following up your meal with a blueberry cheesecake slice or mocha chocolate mousse puts the perfect finish on these local tastes. Try them out, you wont regret it. They might be a bit out of Vancouver area, but so worth the drive. Check out their website before you go because twice now we have walked in the door to be greeted by live music from a band. They love to host local talent and it really sets the scene for an awesome evening.

MONDAYNIGHT2 for 1FISH N’ CHIPS… doesnt get any better. Summertime Patio great place to have a cold beer. however the patio furniture is ridiculously hideous, they need to buy new stuff. Inside décor is very maritime, dark woods, rustic feeling. I like it! Service & Management is GREAT! Good characters! oh… yeah and mussels… almost forgot to mention. The steampots, clams, mussels all really fresh. CHEERS! Brad W.
