Tiny, but hassle-free airport: going through security only takes 5 – 10 minutes at most when there’s a lineup. Friendly staff. Very limited shopping and food catering options(mainly fast-food, no vegetarian options): only one newspapers stand and a small café before security, and another identical café past the gates. There’s a cute counter selling lobster and other frozen fishes near the exit though! There’s a bar upstairs, but you won’t need to wait long in the airport since boarding is also very efficient. Maritime Bus goes to airport three times daily from Moncton and Halifax. Porter, Air Canada and Westjet connect through it.

As far as airports go this one is small and it’s not busy. However it’s security personnel are few. Arriving at 4:30 am you’ll be surprised to find that most flights leave at this time and the security personnel are not scheduled to handle the load. Line ups are long and the word ridiculous doesn’t quit cut it. Expect an hour wait to get from bag check to your gate. The airport management really needs give more consideration to the people who travel through here.

As everyone’s said, this is quite a small airport as far as the waiting area goes — one packed room leading to a handful of gates. But there’s a lot going for it in the sparkling, spacious, public pre-security areas, like a stand selling fresh, whole lobsters(this is Atlantic Canada, eh?), a quick check-in and security experience, and lots of rental car counters. Being used to all the fuss over airport security in the U.S., having the rental cars in a parking garage directly underneath the airport terminal is a big deal to me — a very quick in-and-out experience that saved me quite a bit of time when I was returning my car. Overall, a smooth, hassle-free experience.

The beauty and benefit of this airport is that it doesn’t take you forever to get through security and it’s rather painless! Lots of restaurant options and even a seafood shop before security! Too bad she was closed this morning! I’ll check it out next time I come through!

This is pretty much a ‘what they said’ review, but hey — if I’m going to end up rerouted through the Moncton airport, I might as well get a fresh review out of it: So, Moncton Airport, it’s a shame we meet under these conditions. I admit, my reaction was unkind when I realized that my west-to-east redeye would be chased with an unexpected flight to New Brunswick rather than my original direct flight to YHZ. But hey, you surprised me with a bit of charm. You’ve been saving that just for me, haven’t you, you handsome devil? Yes. You’re teeny tiny. So tiny that to connect to my next flight, I was instructed to wait by one of the locked doors overlooking the all-glass departure area. I didn’t know what to make of that, but after two flights in twelve hours, you sort of stop asking questions. But wasn’t it lovely when a staffer came by to personally let me in, welcome me to the airport, and make sure I knew where I was going(ironic given that it’s just one, small room — getting lost would be a challenge). There’s just one café in the departures area with one that looks pretty much identical on the other side of the glass. It’s not ideal and it’s mostly fast food, but the guy who was working was a gem unlike the majority of airport service folk. Add to that free wifi and you’re good in my books, Moncton Airport. Way to make up for Pearson.

Moncton airport is a very small airport. Good thing about small airport is short security line, you can quickly get to your boarding gate after security as well. But food is very limited, please eat before you check-in if you can.

Moncton’s Airport is simple, easy to navigate, pleasant and basically a nice place to fly from or to. Of course, it’s certainly easier to run a small airport than a huge hub, so the demands placed on Moncton Airport are simple ones, and that means it doesn’t need hundreds of gates, long walks from security, large lineups, huge parking. So it’s not really fair to compare it to any major international airport. Ultimately, there aren’t a lot of other choices in the area, so a review is somewhat irrelevant, but I’m happy to recommend Moncton Airport anyway.

If every airport I flew into was as nice and convenient as this one, my life would be so much better. First the facility is virtually brand new. The staff is so hospitable, it puts a southern gentleman to shame. Even the security checkpoint officers were chatty and kind. Wifi is free, which rocks. Food choices are limited, but for the boutique feel of the airport, it’s exactly what you’d expect.
