Alliance Française of Edmonton

This organization provides a number of services to the French language community in Edmonton. I can’t comment on their social events, since I haven’t attended any of them, but I have taken several sessions of their language classes.
In order to register for a class, you have to complete a placement test. I think they might let you do that online now, but when I did it I had to go to their old location by Campus St Jean, which was kind of inconvenient.
I took 4 sessions of classes, starting from the very beginner level. The classes were small… 3 – 6 students, and our instructor was awesome. The pace of the class can vary, depending on how much time you need on a particular section. At the end of the 4^th session, we were prepared to write the DELF A1 exam (if we wanted to).
The cost of the classes is on the lower end of what I’ve seen for language classes in Edmonton, and they sell you the books in your first session that you will use for the rest of the lessons. You can also get a discount for being a student, registering in advance, or for multiple students in the same household.
Overall, I was happy with the classes I took, and this is where I’d go if I decided to take French classes again in the future.
