Daily roast sandwich(pork shoulder, Pilsner mustard) was fantastic. This place has a modern European feel to it. Friendly service, would come back again

Followed these guys from the early days and their Drift Food Truck. I am a massive fan of homemade soups and sandwiches for lunch and it’s great to have a place that does some unique things for lunch in my area. The place is beautifully designed and vey clean. Great spot for a quick lunch. Limited menu so things are fast. I also like the idea of a daily roast, it’s a surprise each time you come! Hand carved hit roast and done up sandwich style. The soup or salad combo is only $ 12, which I think is great value. Today I tried the carved Pork shoulder with chimichurri sauce and pickled red onion, and paired it with the Borcht. Both were phenomenal! So fresh as the roast has just come out of the oven, and was so juicy. The Borcht was a classic flavour and you could tell made with care. Careful of the spilling! Would like to see these guys eventually expand thanks menu to some more delicatessen items but it’s a great start here and I will be back for sure.

A regular place for me and my buddies. Their salads are beautiful, their sandwiches are very filling. I love the mustard and pickled onions they use! If you have any room left after your lunch, pick up a little bag of their homemade cookies(granted they aren’t sold out already). They are scrumptious!

Simple, quaint, and delicious. Salad and soup specials were great, and a very comfortable atmosphere. Will return.

We don’t come to this area often, but pretty cool! I had the daily sandwich special, the pork shoulder sandwich, and it was awesome! Everything very fresh, and great service too. Would come back for sure.

Visited here during their pop up night, fish tacos, and expected nothing less. They lived up to our expectations. Fresh, fresh fish, warm tortillas(how it’s supposed to be served), and tomato salsa?(can’t think of the name of the topping right now). Also had their Samoa’s and cut off the day. Paired with their very own pickled pickles and mustard. Furniture and atmosphere is very comforting. You pay for what you get, therefore, I’m not very picky about prices… Unfortunately, the waiter and us forgot about the carrot cake we previously ordered… wish we could have tried it but it was too late to go back when we realized! Button line: will go back(open till 6, open till 8 on Thursdays) and will try to remember my whole order. I bummed out.

Best sandwich in Wesmount, maybe Edmonton. They have a rotating menu of roast sandwiches, both times I’ve been they’ve had the pork shoulder on, and I’m definitely not complaining! Same owners as «Drift» food-truck, so you know you can’t go wrong. Everything tastes fresh and gourmet. The salads are excellent! Pick yourself up a Scona Gold and enjoy 124th St from the window seats and take in the fun and unique décor, or grab a sandwich to take home with you. The owner is a wonderful lady as well, and I always enjoy our interactions.

So sad! I wanted to love this place, great vibe and also potential makings of great food, but… My roast sandwich was over 50% fat and had I ate in the restaurant I would have returned it, the bun was also dry :(my yam, carrot and spinach salad was yummy though! If there wasn’t all the fat in my sandwich I would have given them 4 stars. Maybe I just didn’t luck out this time, although they cut the roast right in front of you so clearly they knew what was going in my sandwich. I even took a picture of the mound of fat I had to pick out and will try posting it.

This deli is such a welcome addition to not only 124 street but also the city. I always stop here for a quick bite to eat before my 124 street business association board meetings. The carvery sandwich of the day is always a delight. This restaurant is a great addition to the Drift food truck family!

Dovetail is a solid lunch joint that makes me jealous that I don’t work close to 124th street! Only open 11 – 6:30 on weekdays(and now til 8 on Thursdays with the 124th street Grand Market nearby), it is the lovechild of of my favourite food truck, Drift Mobile Eatery, so of course I had to try it out on my day off. The food is pretty darn good. The menu changes daily as they have one daily roast which they incorporate into a sandwich of the day for $ 8 or 9. They also serve several gourmet salads, quiche, samosas and soup as well for $ 5 or less. Wash it down with beer/wine(plus homemade iced tea and other nonalcoholic bottled beverages) they sell. Everything I’ve tried has been tasty(but none have matched the heaven that is the Drift Pork Belly Sandwich!). Service is prompt and friendly, and the place gets packed during lunch hour. There are a handful of tables inside, and décor is minimalist but bright and clean. Things died down pretty quickly after 1pm, so if you can go a bit early or late, it will be a lot easier to snag a seat. I am more of a Drift-er, but I definitely Love the Dove!

Dovetail is deliciously simple and not overly complicated, a welcome change these days. There really are only a few options on the menu at one time and it changes frequently. I personally love it here and it is one of the best places to escape to for lunch. It’s also very quiet(though people are inside) and the ample sunlight make it a great place to go and read a book while enjoying you meal. I had a pork shoulder sandwich and quinoa salad. Both were delightful. I highly recommend Dovetail if you are looks for a quiet lunch or a place to quickly get something to go. I will say it isn’t an overly large place, maybe slightly over 10 tables. So time will tell if these tables fill up quickly in the future. Also I found it a very clean place. Not a mess anywhere on the tables or counter.

Dovetail is delish! Stopped in for lunch and loved the option for their daily roast — a gorgeously rare roast beef! They paired it with pickled fennel and horseradish mayo. I’m not a fan of horseradish, so I opted for regular mayo instead, but my friends loved the spicy accompaniment. We also picked up homemade hummus that had my ideal flavor and texture, homemade toast points, homemade pita chips with something that resembled an herb aioli, broccoli salad, and samosas. Everything surpassed expectations!

I visited here for the very first time this month and was incredibly pleased with the quality of the roast that was served! Even the mustard(note that I don’t often like mustard) was homemade and marvelous. This little restaurant serves sandwiches, soups, salads, and is licensed to serve beverages of many types. We got a seat by the window and enjoyed the gorgeous prints that are on display in the venue itself. The roast was very moist, perfectly cooked, and worked ever so well with the bun. I loved the way my soup and sandwich was served as well! This place is well worth a visit because the attention to detail and quality is well done. Sure this place doesn’t have a huge selection of food on the menu, but that is because so much care and effort is put into every morsel that you can try. I knew I was likely to like this place because of the ownership, but I loved this place because of the atmosphere and the food. Plus, the great art helped too!

Great little sandwich and salad deli. Creative flavour combinations, I really like their Indian spice inspired chips. They popped, along side the homemade mustard on my yummy thick stack roast beef sandwich. A simple, little café with style. Nothing fancy, just basic simple décor. Open kitchen where you see the prep… oh my, had to have the roast beef sandwich special in the end. It looked so good, it was even better when I choked down. This place had been recommended by another local business and I’m glad I took their advice. Why go to generic fast food places(where I thought I was getting a speedy deal) when I can pay the same for tasty gourmet! And take out if I’m on the run? They also have a food truck(different name). A revelation and a personal revolution– I won’t be seeing any Timmy’s for their soggy panini! I will also spread the word. Just a baby nit pick, when you serve wine keep your hand on the stem. just a weird obsession for me. I’m becoming a snob, but no more garage sale mentality with my fast food. I’ve been Dovetailed baby, and it’s all good.

Came for lunch and it was fantastic! Light and airy on the inside. Small but the space is will utilized and there is a fair amount of seating considering. My only complaint is that the menu is quite small. They have a roast of the day(always changing), a couple of pre-made sandwiches, and a couple«salads»(but nothing green, all quinoa or squash). Due to the lack of variance I wouldn’t come back often but I’ll definitely be back!

Dovetail is a joint technique used in carpentry, a harmonious fit and union between two pieces. It’s fitting that the brick-and-mortar space is home to Edmonton’s favourite mobile eatery, Drift Food Truck, as well as Nevin and Kara Fenske’s newest carvery, Dovetail Delicatessen. Josh and I checked out the space last week for lunch, all but a month after their opening. Dovetail Delicatessen is located on the growing 124 Street, and better pinpointed as «across from Duchess Bakery» to those who need a landmark. I had previously been to the unfinished space when they hosted the Honest Dumplings pop-up and was excited to see that the kitchen remained an open concept, the space filled with natural light, and now home to a beautiful carving station and display of salads, cold sandwiches, and samosas. The roast changes daily and is carved to order. That day’s feature was corned beef with in-house mustards and pickles. The brisket was well seasoned and had good flavour, tender, and the housemade condiments were delicious. German buns are made fresh by Vienna Bakery. I also had the carrot salad, complete with raisins, pine nuts and pumpkin seeds, and a light dressing. Josh ordered the daily carve with the chickpea salad and seemed satisfied with his lunch. We also ordered samosas with a cilantro chutney, which were absolutely delicious and giving Remedy’s a run for its money. Past features have included pork shoulder and roast beef and whatever is on the board, you can be sure that the alternative meat is available in sandwich form in the display case. Egg sandwiches are always available and salads rotate. Staff mentioned that things were a little busy as the food truck season just recently began, and Dovetail Delicatessen was settling in nicely in the new home. Cured meats is in the plans, something I’m definitely excited to see. I was full off of my order(sandwich, salad, and a samosa) making it a great meal for little ol’ me although I would think would leave others wishing there was more. Between the food truck and the space though, Edmontonians will be happy to know they can grab homemade food utilizing fresh and local ingredients. Extended hours until 6:30PM also makes it a great spot for after a hard work day to grab a beer and relax! I know I’m looking forward to grabbing another bite(here’s hoping there chimichurri next round!) with my next visit to the 124 Grand Market.

Simply put, yum! Dovetail is everything a chic boutique delicatessen should be and a fabulous addition to the culinary landscape of 124th Street. A clean, bright, airy feel, with cheerful accents the décor is a perfect match to the succinct menu. Soup, a couple salads, and a daily sandwich filled with roasted meat carved right in front of you. It’s not a lot, but it is wonderful. Along with the hot and cold beverages they have a wine and beer selection(hooray! since so many sandwich shops are not licensed). I can really see Dovetail being added to my go-to faves in town. My only negative is that once word continues to spread about this fabulous shop, I may be able to get a table!

First time to the Dovetail and I had high hopes. I ordered the roast of the day, which was a corned beef sandwich with pickled cucumbers and mustard. It was delicious– my one regret was that I wish it was larger. My girlfriend had an already prepped sandwich from the cooler. She agreed that it was delicious however it could have had more chimichurri sauce on it. Additionally, because it was premade it was not as fresh tasting. We also shared chickpea salad which was nice and light and a great addition to the meal Overall we will be back many times I am sure. My only advice to future customers is order the roast of the day rather then the premade sandwiches.

It’s been months in the making, but the new Dovetail Delicatessen on vibrant 124 Street is finally open! Although it isn’t the Drift Food Truck menu served out of a restaurant, fans of the truck will be happy to know that sandwiches are still the main offering on the menu. A daily roast is served in sandwich form, while a variety of salads, samosas, and dips are also available. Dovetail is open Monday through Friday from 1030AM — 630PM, allowing for those working downtown to grab lunch and residents in the area to stop by for a casual dinner. The space is bright, the décor is simple, and I love the vintage accents placed around the restaurant. Whether you want to stay for your meal or grab something to go, you simply place your order up at the counter and you can watch your food be prepared in the open kitchen. On the day of my visit the feature sandwich was a roast pork shoulder with garlic aioli and pickled jalapenos on a German bun($ 8). The sandwich itself wasn’t much to look at, but the combination was fantastic. The pork shoulder was moist and well-seasoned, while the tang from the aioli and jalapenos added a nice punch of flavour. I do wish the portion was a bit bigger, as the sandwich disappeared in no time and I was left wanting more — you definitely need something on the side for a substantial meal. For a side I opted for the salad made with roasted butternut squash, corn, black bean, and arugula in an ancho chili and lime vinaigrette($ 5). The salad was fresh and I enjoyed the contrast in textures and flavours between all the components. However, I was hoping to get more of a citrus tang from the vinaigrette as I couldn’t quite find it. Sandwich shops are gaining in popularity and I’m sure Dovetail Deli is being welcomed to 124 Street with open arms. The casual, laid-back vibe is inviting and makes it an easy choice to stop at and grab a bite to eat throughout the day. Drift Food Truck is known for their great sandwich combinations and use of local ingredients, and Dovetail Delicatessen will be no different. Drift Food Truck won’t be disappearing off the streets of Edmonton this year, but it’s nice to know there is a place to go and grab a tasty sandwich during the colder months!

Clean and comfortable deli in stellar location. Brined pork roast brought to you by the owners of Drift food truck. In plain view behind the counter, lit by a heat lamp, the brined pork roast just sits there tempting the customer. Beautiful home made pickled fennel is piled on the sand which and of course chimchurri sauce. Clean, well lit seating area lies next to large picture windows where one can sit to enjoy your meal or of course take out. Dovetail is an excellent addition to the neighborhood. My only problem is its too close to home. I’ll be here a lot It’ll be fun to watch this space grow and develop.
