The guys at work come here for lunch fairly regularly. This time there were 6 of us and it was busy so we had to sit on the restaurant side. The main theme of lunch Thia lunch was«that is only available at supper time» The tomato soup I wanted and the halibut bites that a couple of others wanted(which we have had for lunch before, that’s how they knew they wanted them) were not available for lunch. But once we rejigged out orders, everything was fine. They use a nice brioche bun for the burgers. And the cream of broccoli soup I had was nice and hearty on a cold day. Others had the ginger beef, steak sandwich, and quesdia with no issues. Service was fairly quick and good. Only other issue was that the ceaser salad only had a layer of good stuff on top so half a boring bowl of Romain lettuce was left.

Wow! Despite the positive reviews… I didn’t see it coming. Looking for something different for eats with a friend tonight, we decided om The Duke as middle ground. What a wonderfull choice! Apparently we came at the right time. ½ price appies made sampling the food all too easy. And indeed, as others have stated… this is some quality pub food. I myself chose the Wasabi Tuna Tacos, and the Mini Yorkies. Both were unique pub fare, and delicious. So good infact that I added an order of Meatballs. Washing it all down with a double rye & coke, followed by an iced tea, the bill wasa measly $ 30. Of which…$ 8.50 was my liquor! Service was friendly, atmosphere was boisterous and obviously peppered with regulars. All in all, a nice experience with some impressive food at increadible prices. I will undoubtedly be back!

This place used to be my favorite until new management took over. They had the most unique menu in the pub side I never seen other then in a fancy hotel and Guiness on tap was at the best price in the city now the menu is all changed with just your basic pub food like burgers and fries and fish and chips plus a few other entres that are a bit pricy and just ok. Lots of choice of beer on tap but Guiness is now gone. Very friendly staff and good service plus lots of sports on many tv all over the bar and a big screen too with a pool table in the back. Overall a nice looking pub that should improve their menu and bring back Guiness! Not bad for a place that used to be a strip club as part of the old Regency hotel.

I recently attended a conference at the Sheraton and had the displeasure of trying to have lunch in their pub«The Duke of Argyll». When we arrived the pub was pretty empty, we sat ourselves on the patio and waited for about 5 mins to be greeted. Our server came out and said hello(no menus in hand) and asked if we’d like something to drink. We mentioned we were on a bit of a time crunch and had about an hour before we had to head back to our meeting. She said it shouldn’t be a problem because it was pretty slow. Boy were we in for a treat! Our server came back with our drinks and menus. Told us the daily features and we ordered right away to avoid any delay. I ordered chicken fingers and fries and my colleague ordered the pasta special. Approximately 15 minutes later our server came back to tell us that the pasta would be a bit longer as they didn’t have the right pasta cooked(this is supposed to be a feature?) my colleague agreed to the new chosen pasta and we continued to wait… We were told it would be just a few moments. Another 25 mins past, no visit from our server. I had to get up and actually find someone! Going as far as the front desk! Nobody could give us answers so I went back to the table. Still no food… Not even a «sorry, here’s a salad to tide you over». She just shrugged her shoulders and said the kitchen was very busy… Funny, the place was deserted and as far as the leader board went we were the only group onsite(18 people in total most of which went off site to avoid being late) We ended up leaving and went across the parking lot to Wendy’s. I asked to speak to a manager, chef, supervisor, duty manager or someone in charge and was told there was nobody. On a Saturday afternoon that seemed a bit strange! I do not recommend The Sheraton Five Points or any of their outlets.

Awesome location, good service is why I have been eating there for the past 15 years off and on. Mostly the excuses about the steak is why I have to write the review. I am happy to pay more for good quality steak but don’t blame the poor guy that sold it to you !

I have been to the Duke a few times now, mostly for Sunday brunch, which is irresistible at $ 11 for steak, eggs, [chunky!] hash browns, and a beer(or coffee with Baileys). I’ve also met up with friends for happy hour, appys et cetera, and I have to say I have been really impressed with the food and with the wait staff. Both are above average, much better than what you would expect for this neck of the woods(Argyll industrial area). The Duke offers your usual pub food, but it does it right. For example, many, many pubs offer mini-yorkshire puddings, but often they are dried out and overcooked. The ones they make here(see my picture!) are just like your English granny would make, light, fluffy and delicious, and served with a drizzle of horseradish sauce. Perfect! Other great appy offerings I’ve tried are the quesadilla, the halibut bites, and lemon pepper shrimp. Most appys will run you about $ 10 for a large portion, and if you come at happy hour on a Friday, the appys are half off — $ 5 for a meal-sized appy! You don’t often get deals for good pub food like this in Edmonton, certainly not in the downtown. If you’re looking for a sports pub style place, the Duke offers numerous TVs and a projection screen, so it’s a good place to watch The Game. It also offers a dart board, pool tables and VLTs. Things I don’t care for at the Duke — it gets pretty loud in there, and even louder when the talent for the night shows up. The last live entertainer wailed out such classics as «Do You Come From the Land Down Under», needless to say we left in short order. The selection of beer they have on tap is also somewhat limited, slightly better than the average blue-collar pub(i.e. — they have Stella), but I wish they offered some of our fine local Edmonton beer on tap. I think a pint of Charlie Flint or Aprikat would go great with my Sunday steak and eggs.

I stay in the hotel that the Duke is in, and I have starting eating in the pub a fair amount these days. The food is very good, and like Cyndi C says the Mini Yorkies are the best! I prefer eating here than the hotel restaurant, even though the food comes out of the same kitchen the food in the Duke of Argyll is 100% better. I will be eating in the pub every time I come and stay in this hotel.

Mini Yorkshire puddings? Yes, they are delicious. They also have amazing soups and sandwiches. Great place to watch sports and drink beer. On some nights, they have live shows with some guitarists jamming with a karaōke machine. During my first visit to this pub, we watched The Mullet Man performed, who really knows how to work a crowd.( ) He has an original song called The Mullet Man; the song kinda goes: «business in front and party in the back». Attached to the pub is the restaurant. Food is mostly amazing. On Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm, the pub has a steak and eggs special for $ 11.00 + GST. They have darts and pool tables. It’s a great place to have good food and drinks and have a blast!

This is one of the best pub’s in Edmonton. Its pretty unassuming, so you wouldn’t necessarily stop here; as it’s attached to a hotel. but I promise that it’s worth trying. The food is amazing and pretty cheep. We go there a few times a month when were in the area(and even when were not!). The service at times can be pretty slow, but the food really makes up for your wait times.
