It’s solid. You know what you’re getting when you head here, and it’s always pretty much the same. But the fries are crispy, the topping are relatively fresh and I’ve never had an issue. Usually, when I’m in the mood to be bad, I grab The Works and share it with someone. Cheesy, chili, fry goodness, with some bacon bits for good measure. Such a great bad life decision. It’s not a regular stop, because, well, it’s not exactly a healthy stop, but once and a while it’s a treat!

4⁄100: So, I typically visit Canada every few years to see family up there, but last summer was the first time I’ve ever tried what’s considered«poutine» Pros: — Located inside the mall where the food court’s at, so you definitely have a lot of options. — Pretty simple and straightforward menu: you can choose several kinds of fries with different toppings, or plain fries and hotdogs. — Decent pricing for decent portions(small for $ 4.99, large for $ 5.99) Cons: — There’s a lot of gravy for the poutine so don’t be surprised that your fries eventually get soggy. — Workers are a hit or miss but it’s a located inside a mall so it’s pretty much expected. Overa, a decent spot to grab a snack if you’re not overbearingly hungry but could use some food in your system.

I was looking for a snack to have before my movie. I’ve actually never been to NYF so I thought I would give it a shot. I got a Regular Veggie with Bacon(now that I think about it, it kinda defies the purpose of Veggie, but I didn’t want to have chili on my fries. Plus, everything is better with bacon! Am I right?). The portion was a decent size, the fries were super fresh, as were the toppings. The sour cream looked like it may have curdled a bit, but it didn’t affect the taste. I would most likely have it again, but I wouldn’t make it a habit!

This place doesn’t compare to fresh poutine in Montréal, Ottawa and Quebec. Meanwhile, in a greasy, food court in Edmonton, it’ll do. It’s a strong average that doesn’t leave a lot to complain about. They tend to load large portions, plenty of toppings and yield quick service, although that should be expected at a place like this. Whether diving into a pulled pork topping or regular poutine there’s something that will fill your gut up here and capture your entire calorie intake for the day.

Always love New York fries. They are fresh and yummy! Last Saturday though… I was not as impressed as I usually am. We ordered several poutines for my daughter’s birthday party group and when I tried then, they were good except for the gravy that tasted burnt. The kids all thought it was ok but I was disappointed that a poutine from such a premium place had such poor gravy .i expect more from a restaurant with fresh cut fries and a reputation for incredible food.

I don’t know what it is about New York Fries but man is it ever good! My kiddos LOVE love LOVE their french fries for a treat when we are out and about. Now, I must admit — I am kinda limited as to what I can grab for a special snack treat when we are out as my 1 year old has a severe egg allergy and food allergies to ALL dairy. New York Fries is pretty much one of the only places I can be rest assured where his food will NOT have come into contact with egg or dairy. Needless to say, the kiddos can share a small fry and Momma can share a poutine with Daddy and it’s a quick treat. Today, we were at West Ed to take our daughter to Build a Bear for her annual birthday treat and we asked her what she would like to have afterwards for lunch and she chose New York Fries :-) Kiddos shared a plain fry and Mommy and Daddy tried the Braised Beef poutine and it was KILLER! I uploaded a pic so check it out! I definitely found the flavours more balanced than the Butter Chicken or the Pulled Pork which we have previously tried. Braised Beef may just be my new favourite there! This was the first time we had ever purchased New York Fries at WEM and the staff were friendly, efficient, and the atmosphere was sparkly clean. The condiment bar was impeccable — Granted, it was the start of the day. Couldn’t have asked for a better day! Well… Okay, maybe if my son wasn’t allergic to dairy and we could have followed it up with a Marble Slab or Frozen Yogurt :-) Thank you New York Fries for having options that meet my family’s special dietary needs! Who would’ve thought french fries could do this?!?
