I’m stuffed! Everything looked so fresh and delicious I couldn’t help myself but over fill my plate. As usual, a great array of salads to satisfy any craving or taste. All of the dishes were clean and filled regularly to keep things fresh. The hot food as well had a huge selection, basa, pasta, teriyaki chicken, huge beef ribs — tender as could be, veggies, rice, potatoes and of course hot soup and carved roast beef. We were greeted by the friendly hostess who seemed to know everyone and gave many a warm hug as they came in. Our server was very attentive and made sure our water glasses were filled and dishes were cleared immediately. The guests who we brought also enjoyed the lunch. It was a great value for the price and if you use your Sawmill rewards card can collect towards a gift card. Another great deal. Would definitely go back and would so recommend!

We were here for a dear friend’s Birthday celebration… along with about 15 others! I must say, never having been here, the Staff did a really good job between making sure everyone was attended to and food was out still warm/hot. In fact, when I asked about the chicken dish(how much cream was on it), the waiter instantly suggested if I wanted the cream on the side :-). My chicken dish was very good and the taste of the vegetables, green beens and carrots was really nice since they were not overcooked… they had a really nice bright colour :-) and my mashed potatoes were really tasty without feeling heavy. I would come here again to have a meal under«regular» circumstances, however, given the size of our party, the Staff did a really nice job for our first time and with such a large group :-)

Our server in the lounge was so incredibly rude to us. She wouldn’t look at us And we aren’t one to complain. We went to go to the family side and they literally sighed at us when we asked If they could get us from the lounge. I used to love this place and the staff is unbelievable

I’m always apprehensive to try new food locations. I don’t make a lot of money and normally prefer to rely on old favorites than risk wasting my money on a poor experience. But I can rarely turn down a buffet. And the buffet is phenomenal. Different every day. A plethora of meat and hearty foods to choose from, a fish option, soup, salad bar. Quite impressive, and instead of the same dried out, sitting under heat lamps kind of food you’ll see at other buffets, the food seems to always be fresh. While I haven’t personally ordered off the menu yet, my wife recently felt she would rather have a hamburger than what was offered at the buffet, and so ordered a nice mushroom burger. Very well put together, well presented. She seemed to enjoy it more than any mushroom burger she’s gotten elsewhere. The staff are always incredibly friendly, and efficient. Admittedly there’s not much for a server to do when the customer is eating buffet, but water glasses and refills are immediate. and they are always polite. Always very speedy with the bill or any other requests. This is now one of my favorite lunch spots. I’d definitely eat here and order from the menu, but for the price and the experience the buffet has just always worked out better for me.

I haven’t been to the sawmill in a long time, but I remember really enjoying it. We went for their Sunday night buffet this time, and it was pretty subpar. Service was horrid, we didn’t get our buns until halfway through dinner, and we felt like we were often waiting for the server for drink orders, getting the bill and paying. In regards to the buffet, the salads were all pretty much underseasoned, while the Basa was so salty. I wouldn’t recommend the cream puffs either. On the other hand, the beef ribs were delicious. In the end, I doubt I’d go back though.

Just finished our dinner enjoying a great cup of coffee. Would have loved to uploaded photos of our NY steak and prime rib dinner, but it was sooo incredibly delicious that we devoured it all! Like many reviews, we haven’t been here for years due to the less than spectacular food & disinterested service. We always end up in a unhappy mood because we had spent $$$ to be ignored & eat tasteless food. Well, I’m so glad to have taken a chance tonight. But no everything is rosy. The hostesses looked unfriendly & put off that we interrupted their«boredom’?? No greeting, no smiles of welcome, just«follow me». Only when we sat did she finally made an attempt at small talk. Our water was filled immediately by the water boy but it took almost 13 minutes for our waiter to show up. He’s a pleasant person and catering, so it makes me wonder if they stuck us at a table that didn’t have a waiter on shift right away or already on shift. Hmm? The steak, prime rib, garlic prawns, house salad and fresh mixed veggies were all prepared to perfection, flavorful right through, and not coated in butter, sauce, or seasonings. For you chocolate lovers, the double dutch chocolate brownie sundae not only eye-popping huge but lip smacking delicious. Definitely not for the faint of heart! I think restaurants of this caliber should always have their manager(day or evening) visit each table to ensure their diners will be repeat customers. The manager Cary did stop, listen, & respond to my comments. Thank you for respecting you patrons. Ooh, I’m so coming back with my large extensive family and will highly recommended.

My wife and i had dinner here. Fairly late in the evening. The restaurant was empty. Our server was very friendly. No complaints there. Our steaks came half way through our appetizer. We both ordered medium rare. They were both blue rare. My wife sent hers back and when they brought it out it was still blue rare… she didnt eat it. They took it off the bill. Salad bar was mediocre. Not a great selection for a «famous» salad bar. Overall not a great experience. The steak house we are used to in Regina, the Diplomat, is in a completely different league. Maybe we are spoiled and expect too much.

I eat here a lot, to see all these negative reviews makes me wonder. They have separate lounge and dining room menus, but if you’d like to have too many options you can take both and chose whatever. The steak is good(I know little about steak) and the burgers and fries are great(I pretty much always order them or the Cobb salad if I’m thinking more healthy food). The music plays consistently and its different types, I don’t mind it, its very date-like. I should mention the buffets are really good, I have only managed to actually get here for buffet about twice. Selection-wise probably not the best, its more of quality then quantity. The servers are really friendly too. I don’t have much bad to say about this place, when there’s a bigger crowd there’s more noise. Overall, price and quality-wise this place is great, if I wanted to pay for a bit fancier atmosphere and dining I’d go to the keg.

We stopped in here for Mother’s Day brunch, since the south side location shut down. There was not much selection at all, and everything was kind of crammed together. The warm food was set up in the waiting area, so there were a bunch of people standing there looking at you. The desert was mixed in with the salads, and just thrown everywhere. Service was mediocre. I’m not sure if it’s typically like that, or if it was just a cluster because of Mother’s Day, but over $ 100 for 4 people, I expected more.

This was my first and very last time going to the Sawmill. The service was fine and I suppose the food was fine too. I guess that was the problem. I was expecting something more. I’ve had a better steak at Boston pizza. A big issue was when my fiancé actually cut his lip on a broken glass they gave him. We were there celebrating his bday. I made the reservations online and wrote that it would be great if as soon as we were done eating, if someone could please bring him out a Dutch sundae. I wrote that singing wasn’t necessary but that I wanted him to feel special. Well no dessert came which really was the cherry on top of the disappointing evening spent at the sawmill. Next time I want a steak dinner, I will go to the Ale Yard. At least I know it’s a great steak there.

We absolutely love going to this location for their lunchtime buffet! There is usually ample seating available and you have your choice of dining room or lounge. We prefer the dining room, which has an upstairs and downstairs level. There is a lovely lady who is always there to greet you and you are generally asked if you want the buffet or from the menu. We always choose the buffet. There is a nice spread of salads, fruits and veggies which I normally skip to get the great stuff. There is about six or seven different mains everyday! Shepherd’s Pie, Perogies, rosemary chicken, pork cutlets, basa fish, various pasta, ginger beef the list is endless. There is usually at least one fish dish, but each day is different, which gives some variety. Then you have roasted potatoes, rice, and usually zucchini and carrots, some type of soup, and a roast beef station. When you leave there are mints, sesame crackers and fortune cookies. The service is usually great and the price really can’t be beat for the quality of food you are getting. Check this place out!

Horrible service — worse food. I was very shocked at this sawmill and the food. First, we were shoved in a back corner of the resteraunt when 90% of it was empty. We waited 10 minutes for our server who took our drink order and we didn’t see him again for another 10 minutes. He finally comes with the drinks and takes our orders. We ordered calamari to start which we LOVE and we order regularly from other places and this was bad. I don’t know how they did it but they overcooked the calamari(was like chewing on rubber bands) and the batter was undercooked. We ate 3 pieces and left it. After 15 minutes the plate was still there — drinks empty and no service still. While we were waiting they brought our main courses. They placed them on the table and left the calamari. Not asking how it was, just left it. We both ordered medium steaks which after the first cut were noticeably undercooked. To the point blood dropped on my plate. The vegetables were cold and the Yorkshire may as well have been a bun it was so thick! Still not having a refill on our drinks, the server walked by us and we had to flag him down. I told him my steak was undercooked and the calamari was overcooked so he took my steak … And my husbands. Leaving the calamari. It has now been on our table for 25 minutes not touched and let me remind you — still no beverage. The manager comes to the table and I let him know what was wrong. He proceeded to tell me that«everyone loves their calamari and that they had been in business for 35 years.» Also that I should have asked the server to put my steak back on the grill if it was undercooked. They took off the 2 dinners but left the drinks and you guessed it … The calamari. Overall — bad experience. Never going there again. Try the one on the south side. It may be better.

Had a really bad start when we went in. The hostess(didnt really greet us) looked over at us and said«i’ll be one second» and continued chatting with a group of people that looked to perhaps be friends with her. Waited about 5 minutes… she seats us and pretty much throws the cutlery on the table, snatches up the wine glasses and disappears. Like really? I couldnt even believe it. So unprofessional. Our waiter on the otherhand was very knowledgable and kind. Food was fantastic as well. I unfortunately wont be going back just because of how ridiculous the hostess was.

My husband and I decided to come here for date night. It was a Friday night and we were HUNGRY! My date wanted to sit in the lounge side, which seemed harmless. We were served by a waitress who was not on her«A game», and seemed as though we were interrupting her from something more exciting. Later, we realized we were. We were waiting anxiously to order, as I had mentioned before, we were famished. We watched her texting around the corner and having a snack in the waitress area. Much more interesting in her text messages than feeding us. I ordered a steak neptune, which arrived neptuneless. I had to point it out to our server, who nonchalantly acknowledged that she forgot. The Neptune arrived in a separate dish sometime later, at a room temperature. My steak was not of good quality and tasted as though it were cooked too quickly on a dirty grill. Chewy and over charred. I had ordered medium rare. Since we have had good experiences here in the past, we will give them one more shot. We hope we don’t leave disappointed! Well.we went back for the lunch buffet. We left and did not pay. The steamed vegetables were so cold there was still solidified butter in chunks on them. The pasta was refrigerator cold, the roast beef over done. Very sad to see what used to be such a great dining experience go down the tubes. That will be our last visit.

We had a reservation for a group of 14 for a Saturday night so it can be understandable that the service be a bit slow but it was unbelievably bad. — They brought us different menus for different people in our group. Some got the bar menu originally for some reason. — We had to ask for water on several occasions and they never asked us if we wanted to order a second drink or dessert. — They brought the bill for 2 people separated and then after prodding brought the bill 20 minutes later split in to 2 sections for the rest of the group. Weird. And they didn’t want to separate that bill into individual seats even though we requested it. It is too bad the service was so poor because the food was decent. Note: if you are not very mobile this restaurant is likely not for you as there are many stairs and the bathroom is practically in the basement. There are a few seats by the door on the main level and there is a handicapped bathroom by the front door as well.

Ok so I arrived late to the restaurant, around 830 pm on a Sunday. I was greeted by a friend server and told I could seat myself. I took a seat in the lounge and was promptly served by the young woman thatched greeted me. She took my drink order and the food order promptly. I had the onion soup and fish and chips. Soup was very good and prompt coming out. The fish was not good. Edible is the best I can say. Perhaps my fault for ordering fish at a steak place. Overall a meh. experience. Might be back for something more in in their wheel house.

I made a reservation and when was arrived found the 2 hostess leaning by the desk and computer. They didn’t seem too thrilled at doing their job. We were seating downstairs, right at the bottom of the stairs. The one side of the booth may be tight to get in for those with a few extra pounds. The assistant waiter poured our waters with what seemed like a scowl on her face. Ok, I get it, she was having a bad day or didn’t want to be at work but don’t take it on the customers. The waiter was the only one who provided service with a smile. He took our order promptly. The assistant came with the buns and instead of putting the basket on the table, threw it down on the table and not even in front of us. Now this isn’t the fanciest of restaurants but certainly not the type of service I would expect at Sawmill. Our appetizer of flat bread and shrimp arrived quickly. The flat bread was not cut and there were a lot of bruschetta on it making it soggy and messy to eat. At least the shrimp was good! I order the crab cake appetizer and it was deep fried with crab mush inside. It was served beside some limp lettuce. The crab cakes I’ve had in the past weren’t deep fried and the texture was a more substance than mush. Luckily my husband’s steak meal was decent and he enjoyed it with 2 scoops of mashed potatoes and vegetables. We didn’t stay for dessert, which was likely a good thing. Our meal came to over $ 70 so there are many other steak and seafood places where we both could get a good meal and service for that price. When we left, the hostesses were still leaning around the front. For a Saturday night, the restaurant was about half full. Now I know why.

I just came back… It has been a long time… We were seated in the upper levels, the lower floor at the centre when you walk in, located all salads bar, fresh fruits and some sweets, etc… Sawmill has dark intimate setting, it seem the same either now nor then, it is quite romantic for spending a evening with the special ones or having a family dinner in happy occasion. We had: Crab Stuffed Mushroom Caps and New Orleans Style Crab Cakes for appetizers. I love their salad bar, selection at your own creation. Alberta has the best Angus beef to offers, therefore the main Course from Sirloin, New York to Rib eye for the husband and the boys; I had the Rack of lamb. We also had some side dishes to make our places fancier… All the meat was SOTENDERLYGREAT! We did not have desert, everyone had way too much in the tummy. :) Our sever was very pleasant and friendly, our bill came in the heavy scale, since this a special day for us, we all have a pleasant of dinning!

Saw mediocre/average reviews of this place. So we opted to give it a try for ourselves. We went for dinner and although the parking lot seemed full, the restaurant was fully available. The hostess said it would be just a minute, which it was, and we were escorted to our table. The atmosphere of The Sawmill is very intimate. Very dim lighting with lit glass center pieces at the tables. The seating was exceptionally comfy as well. Our server was friendly and pleasant. I love meeting West Indians outside of the Caribbean. Because only a West Indian understands West Indian jokes/dialogue, etc. As what occurred after a little mishap spilling of my beer. All in all she was a great server. Obly confusing part was when anothet server kept coming over and asking if we needed anything, etc. I was glad when the manager came over and asked, but jist confused when another server came by to ask. At least you know if it gets busy for your one server, you got others in line to pick up where they cant. I had the BBQ Ribs and my wife had the Chicken Neptune. Both came with fresh grilled veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. Both were cooked properly and tasted very good. This is not really a place to go often, unless you are financially capable. After it was said and done(chicken neptune, ribs, beer, wine and crab cake appetizer) with tax and tip our bill came out to $ 96. Definitely pricy and something I would only do for«special occasions» The only negative I could say was that after I finished my ribs. I went searching for the washroom, and could not find it. There was a sign with a finger pointing in its direction. Yet when I went that way, I found nothing. But I will chalk that up to the food coma I recieved from eating there. Great romantic/intimate setting… Probably even good for work gathering, etc. Definitely not a casual hangout, although there is a pub section for that you can go to.
