Egg and cheese sandwich was okay, nothing special. Coffee was meh. Nice place to chill with plenty of tables and open space:).

They do a flat white … Pity I didn’t see it till after I ordered. Had the medium roast coffee. A littleon the bitter side but acceptable. Sausage roll was heated in a grill but cold on the inside.

Despite the fact that it is attached to the Stanley Milner library which I am really not a fan of this is still my Second Cup of choice. The staff are extremely friendly and work efficiently as a team. Everytime I have gone in when the person on the till is dealing with the person ahead of me in line another staff member has come up to greet me and get my drink order started. I have three or four drinks I generally tend to stick with and everytime I have gotten something from here it has always been top notch. The only things I have ordered from here that have been less than average has been some of the pastries. Alot of them taste like store bought Safeway stuff to me which is never desirable considering how much more you pay at a coffee shop versus at the grocery store. The exception to this rule however would be the red velvet cake. It is so unbelievably delicious but you might want to bring a friend to split it with as it is quite rich. The WiFi works really well and no matter how busy it gets I have always been able to find a seat. I really like that they have lots of stools so I can sit down with my book if im by myself without feeling guilty that im taking away a table from a larger group of people. There are lots of options downtown for coffee but im pretty certain that if you choose this Second Cup you aren’t likely to leave disappointed.

It was a busy morning when I arrived around 9:30 for a meeting. The tables and booths are a little cramped for a private conversation but I was able to find a table that wasn’t surrounded by all sides. The service was quick but there was a line up waiting for items. Good thing I ordered tea and I got it right away. Reliable wifi was good while waiting for my coffee mate. The tables cleared as the morning went on, but a steady stream of customers came in. Nice central location to get a drink.

This spot benefits from its location in the Citadel theatre with the waterfall and greenery. The staff are usually prompt and friendly. A somewhat limited selection of food though.

It’s a chain. It was fine. Convenient to Sir Winston Churchill square area, right next to the library. Comfy seats, and wifi. What is it with spongy croissants with goo on them?(A Canadian thing?) It was fine.

I am generally not a big fan of Second Cup, but this location is extremely convenient for me to grab a morning cuppa for work. I usually only deal with the morning staff, who are good — friendly and pretty consistent in drink quality. On the rare occasion that I decide to stop by in the afternoon, the staff at that time seems… less so. Not as friendly, more concerned with chatting with eachother or flirting with the security guards, and the quality of the beverages is hit or miss. The choice of pastries is the same as every other Second Cup — mostly stale choices of danishes & muffins, nothing to inspire me to spend the inflated prices. My biggest compaint is the roation of flavoured coffee choices… there really isn’t any. They stick with one or two different flavours at all times(one/day, the flavour of which rarely changes), and they aren’t even very good ones. Where is the Caramelo? For a quick coffee fix in the morning, this is as good a place as any, so long as your expectaions aren’t too high and the line up isn’t too long.

Even though it’s part of a big chain, I usually don’t mind Second Cup cafes. Their coffee is pretty good, their nanaimo bars really tasty, and the wifi very consistent. Sadly, this location of SC earns my first-ever one-star review for their lack of service. I had time to kill before catching a show at the Citadel downtown and had my laptop in tow, so I sat down for a slice of cheesecake and started working. It wasn’t long before a man came over and began talking to me. He seemed unstable and out of it. I don’t think he was ill-intended, but he would not leave me alone and I think it was obvious to everyone in the café that it was an uncomfortable situation. I kept glancing back at the counter for assistance. Even though I did not speak back to him, he continued to talk to me for about ten minutes. In that entire time, not a single staff member left the counter. It was only after he left that the staff resumed running the café, grabbing milk and ice from the back room(right beside my table) and cleaning up. It felt, to me, that they were avoiding the situation. In my opinion, it is the staff’s responsibility to remove a person from the café if they are not a customer, and especially if they are bothering other customers. I am extremely disappointed in the staff here and will not be returning to this location.
