Can’t complain about service or product, it’s always great here… What I do want vent about is the fact that it was closed for a week for renovations but it still looks like the same careworn café it always has, still beat up chairs, still same paint, still same set up… What is different is that they currently have no wifi, which means cash only… No debit, no credit, no app pay, nothing… Who carries cash? Apparently only the three people in there. It’s usually packed and there’s no one there today. Not terribly impressed

Wow, this is a hopping place on a Tuesday afternoon. I came earlier for a meeting and there was only one available table and a line up of 5 people in front of me. I snagged the table but putting my coat on the chair. But in the half an hour I was there before my meeting, there was a steady stream of people and tables always occupied. Too bad the weather wasn’t nice and they didn’t have outdoor seating. It seems like a popular place for meetings, solo drinkers, and those reading or using their laptops. Although there was a line up, service was quick and efficient and it moved quickly. I’m not a coffee drinker so had my tea. The festive drinks seemed to be popular as I saw people ordering them. They also have a good assortment of baked goods. I like this Second Cup but wouldn’t really enjoy if I had to wait long for a table.

This is the only one at a convenient location to me. Coffee, ambience and seating is good. However you have fight for the comfortable seats which seem to be taken most of the time by members of African ethnicity who are relatively pleasant. But there’s enough of them there to make a Tarzan movie. My biggest complaint is the staff. They are rather cold and impersonal and some of them look like they kissed the wrong end of a baby. If you’re willing to ignore that it’s not the worst coffee shop to go to

When it comes to chain coffee shops, I prefer Second Cup over Starbucks any day. Their prices are more reasonable and all Starbucks now look pretty much the same. The also attract a different crowd. Starbucks tends to attract snobs and Second Cup has a more varied clientele from all backgrounds. I particularly like this location. It has a comfortable homey vibe to it that is missing from some other locations and the staff there is always friendly. Like all other coffee shops they have free Wi-Fi with a 2 hour limit, which I think is long enough for anyone. Try the English Toffee Bar if you haven’t already; it’s the best dessert they have.

As far as downtown coffee spots go this is in my top 3. It’s still the same ol’ Second Cup you find anywhere but it has free parking downtown. Can’t complain about that! Good place for casual meetings but a little too loud to get serious business done. Consistent coffee and the service is always solid.

If I have to chain it, I take my bizness to Second Cup. Yep, it’s a big company, but at least I know I’m supporting Canadian — yay! I’ve found myself at this SC quite a few times. They’ve got very convenient(early and late) hours, and it’s easy to spend time doing work here before walking over to a dinner or event at nearby Brewster’s. Gotta love their selection of sweets. The SC bakery has seriously improved over the last couple of years — don’t try a date square, I’m begging you. Because you’ll be hooked!(And then there won’t be any left for me!) Coffee’s fairly inexpensive, wi-fi isn’t too shabby, there’s tons of seating, and plug-ins are plentiful. No complaints here!

Holy smokes, is this place busy … this morning while enjoying a latte and a muffin while reading the news for just 20 minutes, I saw some police officers(in plainclothes!) meeting, and two business meetings and a whole bunch of folks coming n’ going. The service was good, the latte was at least adequate(I’m not a great judge, I’ll admit), and I got to sit in the sun for a while. :) At times I wished for an iPod with earphones to help me ignore what was going on around me … still, I’d definitely go again.

This is probably my favourite Second Cup location in all of Edmonton to date. It reminds me of the location I used to go to at Bathurst and Lawrence. Playing latin music in the background, comfortable seating and located in a pretty good part of town. I can come here to read, study or people watch no matter what time of day it is.

I agree with Robin, the layout of this particular Second Cup is really nice. The service and the drinks are pretty much the same as every other location I’ve been too. A favourite snack of mine is Hearty Crunch(supplied by the Bee Bell Bakery). I was here before Halloween, and they had really crap decorations. Handkerchief with a ghost on it, pumpkin paper cutouts with Sharpie jack’o lantern faces, ill placed streamers. I wonder what they will come up with for Christmas!

Love to blog at Second Cup in Oliver Square. You have to try the Strawberry Italian Soda. Great service with a smile, friendly atmoshpere.

This Second Cup location might be my favourite in the city for sitting in and reading a book or scribbling in a notebook while killing time because the layout, unlike a lot of the other locations in the city, actually allows for privacy. There’s a somewhat large sitting area at the back, with tables well-enough spaced out so no one’s looking over your shoulder. This is the Second Cup I’d take a coffee date to, or sit in for an hour waiting for film to be ready from the nearby London Drugs. The brewed coffee, as per Second Cup standards, is still undrinkable(unless you’re a fan of acidic blends) and the butter pecan latte has somewhat of a boozy flavour, but the americano’s just fine, and do yourself a favour: try one of Second Cup’s incomparable soft and chewy ginger molasses cookies.
