I only ever go to Steel’s for their Sunday brunch. I am not sure how it compares to the regular service. But it is very mediocre. There is the typical assortment of brunch foods, carving station, eggs Benedict, omelets made to order, sushi, and my favourite, a taco station! One of my favourite parts of brunch is the dessert after you have already had too much of everything. Except here. The desserts are practically non existent. The last visit included what looked like a strawberry short cake from M&Ms. There are usually puddings with whip topping that tastes dried out from service the week prior. Skip the dessert and you are usually ok.

Came here for brunch. Reminded me of a 5.99 Vegas brunch Buffett. Had all the usual items including dirty glasses fake crab and dodgy sushi. glassware was dirty and overall the cleanliness of the restaurant was not good . No hostess to greet and waitresses that couldn’t be bothered either. Absent manager and terribly undertrained or non caring(I couldn’t decide which) staff. Odd brunch setup in the cold breezeway Lobby making all the warm food not warm. Berries for the waffles/pancakes were obviously old and fermenting ! making me feel unwell after . From now on I’ll stick to the sawmill for my brunch fix

The food was mediocre, the service was horrible. She I asked for a bigger glass for my beverage I was told she did not have enough bigger classes. There were 6 other people in the whole place. You don’t have 12 glasses to rotate? Sorry I did not order a beer… I am clearly pregnant. My asking for a bigger glass was to not cause inconvenience to her as she clearly didn’t want to come over and refill my 125 ml glass of ginger ale. We are staying here until Saturday and unfortunately I won’t be coming back for any other meals. What a joke! Unilocal the area and find somewhere better for price, service, and food.

Sunday brunch with the family and we made a reservation for 11 at 12:30. It was a good thing I called a few days in advance to confirm as they had the time incorrect for 11. We arrived and were directed to a table in the room for large parties. There were 2 parties occupying tables and one was a little loud. The table only had 9 seats so we told the waitress and they put a few chairs at the ends of the tables. Not ideal considering we had a reservation and one chair was sticking out. But another staff person added a chair to make it more comfortable. The buffet is set up past the lobby of the hotel. The first table has the plates, yogurts, and small boxes of cereals to choose from. To the left is the breakfast area with pancakes, waffles, French toast, and the long line for made to order omelettes. There was a carving station for ham too. There was the syrup, chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, and whipped cream too. Past the omelette station was a vegetable tray, cheese tray, and a few salads, seafood, and sushi area. In the middle section offered of lunch and breakfast items. The lunch items included huge cabbage rolls, chicken, pork chops, ribs, asparagus, pasta, and a taco station. Breakfast items were sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, chunky potatoes, and eggs benedict. The dessert section had fruit and chocolate fountain, variety of squares, and pudding and jello cups. My first plate I had a sausage, waffle, eggs, and potatoes. I didn’t overload so I also tried a cabbage roll. I really liked the cabbage roll with the mixture of meat and rice. The waffle still had some crispiness and not soggy like it can be in buffets. I went back to try some lunch items. Had a few pieces of sushi, shrimp, pasta, and pork chop. The food was alright and nothing really stood out as delicious. It was a typical buffet with lots of variety but the freshness and quality not quite there as when you go to a restaurant and have it made to order. It could be enjoyed if you are looking for a brunch to accommodate lots of people as long as they don’t mess up your reservation!

Food was average, servings were generous(by Asian standards). However service was terrible! The waitress blatantly ignored our table of 8 even though ½ of us have our hands raised. There is no way she could have missed us when she was only at the next table. We requested to have our bills split into 2 and she swapped our bills.

Only two other people in this restaurant when we arrived, this should have been the first indication to turn and run, but we didn’t. Bad mistake… The menu was just out of the seventies, we had the ribs. They were chewy, tastless and served with fries and overcooked vegetables. Restaurants like this should be closed down, due to boring food and outdated menu. There are many excellent restaurants in Edmonton, stay far away from this one!
