We had late bfast and sat by the bar, the guy forgot to punch in the order and we waited for 1 hour, finally i asked the bartender and he said he was missing the bill, and rush in the order. The food came after 10 minutes and they compliment the whole meal. Dont know if i wanna come back but its ok bfast.

Great place for any diner food cravings. I like the ambiance, and it has great food. The only problem are the lines, but once you get in, you forget the wait.

Because SugarBowl. You need to get here early(if you’re coming for breakfast) as this place fills up quickly. Trendy and eclectic, this place is a gem in the Garneau/University area. In the summer, a beer/drink on the patio is a great way to spend an evening. It can get quite busy though, so you may have to wait. It’s worth it though! Tons of worldy beers and excellent food. The SugarBowl is a winner!

When I moved to Edmonton, this was the first restaurant I tried(thanks to a friend’s suggestion) and it is still my favourite place to go. Amazing beer selection, delicious breakfast, good ambience. My only complaint is I feel like their dinner menu could be expanded with a few more options, but every single thing I’ve tried from the SugarBowl has been amazing. The Chicken and Waffles or the Mussels and Fries are to die for. ALSO Eggs Benny. DEFINITELYGOHERE!

This restaurant reeks of hipster, in a great way. You feel hipster by osmosis. everything that you’re wearing, instead of looking cheap and gaudy, will look hipster and intentional under the great lighting’s warm tones. Thus, come here for impromptu dates that catch you off guard! I love their vegetarian burger, the Portobello Mushroom burger. It comes with yam fries and is heaven on a plate, really. Their Wild Salmon Linguine is excellent when you want a plate that is a little lighter on the palate. Both dishes, however, are quite heavy as they are heavily doused in creams. Their lamb burger tempts me to. pause. my vegetarianism, and that’s rare. It looks heavenly. Their cinnamon bun is truly a thing of glory. Always get it warmed up and butter liberally. Service is always warm. I wish, however, that their washroom could be improved. It’s so cramped and looks a little gross.

Great food, great people. The chicken and waffles are to die for, and their breakfasts are good. Can get really busy though. During the summer, the wasps were really buzzing around the patio. That kind of kills the atmosphere, but what else do you really expect at that time of year.

I haven’t really given SugarBowl much of a shot after moving to Edmonton about 5 years ago. However, in the last 2 months I’ve eaten there a few times with my new babe and have had a really good time. It’s a pretty popular place in Edmonton, but I would say I found it the least busy around 3:00pm on a Wednesday. I know it’s very specific, but it gets busy and it’s hard to find parking around that area. I would recommend trying the Bison Chilli, it’s pretty delicious and it comes with corn bread(yum). They also have A LOT of different types of alcohol, which makes me really happy. :) The service is ok. There is one bald male server(sorry for the description) who is super on top of his game. I always enjoy being served by him. Everyone else is kind of meh — forgetting cutlery and water sometimes etc. The atmosphere of the place is really hip and cool as well. Is it too hip for me maybe? Probably lol.

It was OK. Unfortunately, the back door kept getting propped open, giving a wonderful scent of the rotting trash can as I was trying to enjoy my brunch. Portions were substantial, and atmosphere(apart from the garbage stench) was lively and enjoyable. We’ll probably be back in the winter when that trash won’t be an issue.

Last time I was at Sugarbowl I really enjoyed the food, so I made it a vow to return… and ordered the exact same dishes I had, hahaha. I have been craving for the wild salmon linguine since I’ve had it! Wild Sockeye Salmon Linguine — $ 14 shallot, garlic cream sauce, parmesan This is one of the best pasta dishes, ever. You get such a hearty portion of everything and the cream sauce is just flavored spot on! The pasta, although not handmade(can you even get handmade pasta at that price?), is perfectly cooked to al dente. The sauce is creamy but not heavy, and not too strong on the garlic. The salmon is cooked just right and not dry at all. Oh man, I’m thinking about how tasty this is as I’m typing up my post. I should’ve gotten a few orders to go and stock them in my freezer! Chicken & Waffle — $ 14 buttermilk, spice marinated chicken breast, waffle, maple butter Sadly, I was not wow’ed by this. I know it’s been two years since I’ve had it, but I’m so sure they changed the recipe for the chicken. It just did not taste the same and I didn’t really want to eat it anymore after the first bite. I’m not saying it wasn’t good but I didn’t like the spice they used. The waffles were also a bit hard. Cinnamon Bun — $ 4.25 Every single table had at least one order of this(to stay or to go) so I decided to try it out. It was soft, pillowy, and not very sweet. Definitely much better than the ones at the mall! 2 Eggs Any Style — $ 8 2 eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes, toast Simple breakfast for my son. My favorite part was actually the potatoes — they were seasoned very nicely and cooked just to the right doneness! The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere and is very family friendly. It was pretty busy on the day we went and at around 11:00am, most people were still enjoying breakfast. I made sure we got there around 10:45am just so we could get the lunch items as the lunch menu starts at 11:00am! I’m sad that I didn’t like the chicken and waffles this time, but I will definitely return again(and again) for that pasta!

While visiting my friend in Edmonton, I decided to stop by SugarBowl for a solo breakfast since he was busy at work. I arrived around 10am on a Thursday morning and the place was comfortably full, but I managed to grab a nice sunny table by the window. There were also seats set up outside since it was still kind of warm out. I went with the SugarBowl Benny, which was poached eggs served on cornbread, with potatoes on the side. The cornbread was an awesome twist on a classic eggs benedict! I also decided to get a cinnamon bun to go(partly because I knew I was going to be stuffed after the eggs benedict, and partly because I wanted to share it with my friend). It was so huge that I would recommend sharing it, otherwise you will just fall into a carb coma. But it was definitely delicious… no wonder I saw one lady walk out with three of them to go. Service was great and the food came out quick. Overall, I’d recommend SugarBowl for a nice weekday breakfast spot.

This place is forever packed, for obvious reasons. The food is good, the drink menu is vast and the staff are usually friendly. I’ve had the opportunity to pop in twice in the last month. As the lamb burger was so tasty the first time, I opted for it again the second and was not disappointed at all. I’m now trapped in one of those silly conundrums where I want to try the whole menu but I just love this dang burger so much! Pair that with the sweet potato fries(but ask for light seasoning as I find them too salty otherwise), and you’re set for a great dining adventure. The Hubba Hubby tried the chicken and waffles, which I’ve heard so much about. He was a fan while I just can’t imagine eating waffles in the afternoon(I’m not a breakfast fan to begin with). At 2pm on a Friday it was surprisingly busy. I find it busy every time I go, which is a sign that it is awesome. It unfortunately means that most often it gets pretty loud with excitement and energy of friends connecting, but if you can sit on the patio during the summer, the volume is easily manageable. I find that some staff are amazing while some are a little less enthused but in general, they keep the ice water coming and the food is at your table before you’ve even had a chance to wonder how long it will take. Fast food always(I’ve found). Of course, you can’t talk about SugarBowl without talking about their beer selection. The choices are seemingly endless and it’s a great place to discover a new favourite!

I’ve always been a little on the fence about SugarBowl. On one hand, I love the rustic look, the wide open windows, the great beer selection… on the other, I hate that it’s always silly busy, that it’s so crowded it’s hard to walk between tables(fire regulations, anybody?), and that, oftentimes, the servers are unkind. On my latest visit, there were a bunch of open tables so I asked a bus boy if I could grab one or if I should wait(they seem to switch between«seat yourself» and«wait to be seated» and they never have any signage indicating)… anyways, he said to wait to be seated. The hostess came by a moment later and told us there would be a 10 – 15 min wait. I found it odd, since there were tables open, but whatever. There were some guys behind us so we couldn’t get back outside to wait(if you’ve ever been, you know how crowded that door area gets…). Anyways, after less than a moment the hostess comes back and very harshly tells us to go wait outside. Yikes! Anyways, we eventually get a table, and our actual server was a very friendly(British? Australian? Not sure.) man. He offered drink suggestions and advised on the menu when asked. Service was quick and he asked if we wanted more whenever our drinks were dwindling. Anyways, as I said, hit or miss. I’ve also been and had really terrible service. I find they tend to hire disenfranchised university students who really don’t want to be there. As far as the food goes, I find it a little hit or miss. I’ve had quite a few menu items over the years… Smoked Paprika Popcorn — delicious! It comes with a slice of lime, too! Mac n’ Cheese — really really good, would definitely get again. Very cheesy, warm, and homey. Meatball Sliders — WAY. TOO. SPICY. Not just a little spicy. Inedible spicy. Which would be fine if they indicated on the menu that they’re spicy. But they don’t. Jerk Chicken Burger — Also too spicy for me(though at least they indicate it… I mean ‘jerk’ is usually spicy Cinnamon Bun — good, but I don’t really get the hype? I don’t know… they’re fine, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get one Breakfast Sandwich —(it’s been awhile so it might have changed) dislike. it’s just nothing special, and the tomato gets all warm and the egg is similar to that pre-made egg stuff at McDonald’s. eek.

This was my first time here, and it definelty lived up to the hype! Great place to eat and they have an amazing beer selection. I had the chicken and waffles, and I still don’t understand why they are paired together. They have a pretty good patio, the staff was attentive and the wait was none existent. Would definelty try it again!

Cinnamon buns are huge and still deliciously sinful! Be sure to share this with your dining companion(s) as there is enough for everyone to share! And be sure to order this early as they do run out depending on demand! I tried their breakfast sandwich this past Saturday and although it was pretty good, had way too much mayonnaise on BOTH slices of bread, so much so that I had to scrape off both sides before digging in. If you can snag a table outside on their patio, it’s the best place to be on a beautiful sunny morning… Oh and get there early as the place fills up fast and they don’t take reservations — so be prepared to wait otherwise. Parking is also a pain in the butt in this area. I hear you can park directly behind SugarBowl if there are spots left, and also behind the empty building beside SugarBowl. Service is OK… not particulary friendly, and not particulary bad… Just is.

Came here with my best friend on my birthday back in May. The service was prompt and our waitress was pleasant and observant when my BFF mentioned it being my birthday. My bf ordered a glass of with lunch but sadly it had turned. She opted for a glass of Sangria after I told her how great it was. It wasn’t to sweet and was really quite boozy! Just about perfect if you ask me! I had a hard time trying to decide what to have so she mentioned having a scoop of the Bison Chilli on top of the Mac and Cheese! Absolutely HEAVENLY! We decided to share the Banana Cream Pie for dessert and I would have licked the plate clean if it wasn’t so busy! I will be back for sure! Now, this place packs up quickly so be prepared to wait. In my opinion it’s worth the wait in the summer months but no so much in the winter. I’ve never actually been here for dinner so I can’t comment on that.

A great place for breakfast with a variety of offerings to satisfy whatever you’re craving. The restaurant is small and was quite packed on a Sunday morning. We arrived around 1030am and there was a pretty long list of people waiting for a table. Because there were only two of us, we opted to sit at the bar since it was first-come. To be honest, I liked this seat because you had the chance to watch the bartenders in action while checking out all the food heading out of the kitchen. They have great specials that change from day to day and on this particular morning, it just so happened to be bison bratwurst with poached eggs and potatoes. I had to try it and was excited to try this meat treat. When it arrived in front of me, it was a huge sausage with two perfectly cooked eggs. I made sure to break them close to the starchy side to help soak up all that delicious yolk. I imagined that the brat would be gamey, but it had a great smokey flavor to it. I had a few bites of Jenny M’s chicken and waffles and they were great. The chicken was perfectly crispy while the delicious Canadian maple syrup that accompanies the selection complimented everything just right. She got full and I finished her dish… Couldn’t let good food go to waste! They have an espresso menu as well as a full bar with a great list of beers. I really wanted to try their house made cinnamon rolls, but they were out already for the day. They’re apparently all the rage and go super quick. I’ll be back when in the area, but will probably come back earlier to avoid the breakfast rush.
