Choose your own toppings and yogurt flavour, what a great idea! Love they have so many difference flavours of yogurt to choose from and lots of toppings from dry nutty ones, to sweet fruit, and for those with a sweeter tooth, candy. The smallest of the 3 cup sizes may seem small but I find that you can fill it up with a lot to fill your tummy. We got that size and didn’t have it overflowing and the cost by weight was just under $ 5. This is a good place to tailor to your tastes for a sweet treat. The staff seemed pretty disinterested but at least they did refill the fruit toppings but there doesn’t seem they need to do too much besides weigh each cup. There isn’t too much indoor seating but they have a few tables and chairs outside.

With all the fro-yo options available in Edmonton and more seemingly popping up every week, Twisted Yogurt falls in the ‘meh’ category. Neither the best fro-yo in town, nor the worst, Twisted Yogurt left me with a bit if a funny taste in my mouth — literally. The idea is simple — grab a cup, fill it up with your choice(s) if yogurt flavours from the ten or so options presented to you and then decorate your cup o yogurt with a selection of candy, nuts, cereal, fruit and sauces from the topping bar. When you are satisfied with your masterpiece you put it on the scale and the cashier tells you how much your creation will run you — and it will probably be way more than you thought but that’s just the way these things work(who actually can tell how many grams are in the cup as they fill it up? My math skills are not there!!) The yogurt here has a tangy taste to it, almost verging on bitter/sour. Not what I want my white chocolate raspberry frozen yogurt to taste like. For the plain yogurt that I also selected I was alright with the slightly tangy taste. The toppings bar is large in selection but it is very difficult to dispense a lot of the dry ingredients as they are kept in bulk bin type containers and went you open the lid an avalanche occurs and you end up with a mountain of coconut, not just a sprinkle as you had planned. I wouldn’t say no to Twisted Yogurt but I wouldn’t seek it out either. You’ll find me at Pink Berry or Menchies.

Yummy yummy food. You pay by weight, so be frugal and just try a few things each time you’re there. When I was there, the one person working was in the back — there must be video monitoring from there as I can’t imagine being able to come in, serve myself, and walk out without being stopped … but it took her quite a while to come take our money once we’d picked up our food …

The staff was friendly, and introduced me to the whole«Twisted Yoghurt» process, which I can compare to Mongolia Grill(choose your own dish). The frozen yoghurts are quite cold, and combine very well — I went with the Raspberry and Lemon combination. I added strawberries to that(Mongolia Grill has made me cautious with portions), and I have to admit, it tasted fantastic. Twisted Yogurt, now has three cup sizes — 12 oz, 16 oz, and 32 oz. Alan’s «average price» suggestion is excellent, however, it still hasn’t been implemented. The store itself is spaced-out well to accommodate decent numbers of customers, and was almost spotless when I came by. This was fun. I like the customization and the taste, so I’ll be coming back soon.

A family favourite! Come in and select your yogurt base, then add one of a plethora of toppings.

Twisted Yogurt’s Terwillegar location opened April 25, 2011. Hadn’t been to the other locations before so it was a new experience for me. Luckily the staff were aware that it might be new for people and were quick to jump in and explain how the whole thing works. You serve yourself and are charged a base price, then an additional amount by weight, being able to choose from a selection of frozen yogurts. Their machines can even blend two different flavors together — you could get chocolate or banana, or you could get chocolate and banana blended together, for example. Various candies and fresh fruits are also available to garnish your creation. Being able to make my own was fun, but I found it too easy to get carried away and when it came time to pay I was a bit surprised at the price(nearly $ 10). They seemed to have only one cup size when I went(a 16oz, fairly large) — different cup sizes and perhaps an «average price» for each one would be helpful. I’ll definitely be going back, but will be sure to be a bit more cautious with my portion!
