Cineplex Odeon Queensway

I had a few hours to kill in the area on Saturday so decided to watch a movie. It was busy with an interesting mix of clientele. Seniors, high school students, middle aged folk.
The Unilocal App directed me here. Right off the Gardiner, you can see as soon as you get off the freeway. The complex is large, but it’s only the movie theatre and a couple of chain restaurants. They play a lot of movies because the Cineplex is so large as well. There are a number of concession stands, but this is not unique to this location. The price point is standard; personally, I think that movie tickets could be cheaper. However, I spent three hours watching a movie in a clean facility so I can’t complain.
There are probably a number of theatres from my home before I reach this place, but if I’m in the area again I will return.
Good for: movies

I love this theatre! My husband and I won’t go anywhere else. The VIP seats are the best in the GTA. The food is tasty and the staff are always friendly. Parking is never an issue and the movie selections are always recent with a large variety to choose from. I’m so happy it’s only a short drive to reach.

This is my go to cineplex theater, even though I live in the downtown core. I like that it is generally fairly quiet and there’s a number of great restaurants nearby!
My boyfriend and I have been here on a number of occasions and usually buy tickets to see films in VIP– I’m not a fan of waiting in line to see a film that came out that weekend and I love the couch style chairs. So we make the short drive over. There’s always lots of parking, you might have to do a short walk, but I like to think after all the popcorn I’m about to consume, it might be a good idea to get some exercise in while I’m at it!
Here’s something to note, which is the biggest issue for me with this theater: they have a separate entrance for VIP. You think that should be fine. No issue. But kind of an issue. VIP at this theater will not serve small popcorn. They only offer their VIP sizes– medium and large (which look smaller than a typical medium or large). They also don’t offer some of the usual items from the non-​VIP side (i.e. hotdog). So we usually go and just order the items we want from the non-​VIP side and then make our way to VIP. When it is blizzarding out, that walk between entrances seems really inconvenient, especially when you can see the VIP entrance inside but they do not allow customers to go through it. Strange!
It’s somewhat annoying that I can’t order something that is within the same building and so I need to make my way to the main area of the Cineplex, from outside, in order to get our desired snacks.
But! The main area also has a Tim Horton’s which I think is a huge win for a movie theater! Get a steeped tea while watching a movie in a cold theater. Heck yeah!
So overall, I enjoy this theater and we make the trip out to go to this specific one. We just always have a game plan ready of stopping into the main area for snacks before proceeding to the VIP section.

Great place for singles, couples, families, fairies, hobbits and unicorns. Really anyone is at home here

I’ve been to several movies at this location over the years and have always been satisfied. Lots of screens, lots of food options, lots of parking (though we always just walk over from my in-​laws). If you were coming by car, it’s right off the highway, so overall a convenient location.
I recently got to experience the VIP side for the first time, and I’m hooked! If I were going to see movies every week the cost difference would be too much, but as someone who goes to see a movie or two a year, the upgrade is fully justified and we’ll appreciated. I enjoyed the comfy seating and huge aisles. I liked the in seat service, though I found it a bit confusing as a first time VIP goer. When we picked up our tickets the kiosk asked us if we wanted to add food or drink. We assumed the inseat menu would have all the same options … nope. Perhaps they were available if we asked, but I would have much preferred seeing everything listed out in front of me on the inseat menu to be able to decide and order once. I ordered the tandoori flatbread and my partner ordered the burger and fries. Both were good (for a chain), but he definitely picked the movie friendly option! The flatbread was really messy, and since it was served on a cutting board (unlike the burger served in a tray) I couldn’t easily pick it up to eat on my lap. Live and learn!
We didn’t hang out at all in the lounge, but I could see how it would be nice to arrive a little early and have a drink. It would be an ideal spot to meet up with friends before a movie. And for people with kids (like us!) or really anyone trying to maximize their time, it’s nice to have a bunch of different experiences all in one spot. For us it meant we could maximize the time spent away from our son (being very generously babysat by grandma), by watching a movie AND having lunch, no need to spend time to go somewhere, order, wait, eat, etc.
Ooh, one last thing: bathrooms are single closed rooms, all unisex. I love it! I wish more places would do this. I don’t mind waiting a few minutes when the movie is done, in exchange for such nice and private bathrooms.

Been here over a dozen times — ample parking, good selection of restaurants within the parking lot and there’s even a valet service at the VIP entrance (separate) for the cinema.
Had lunch at their lounge prior to watching the Star Wars movie and had a good experience. The waitress was attentive and friendly. We ordered the burger and buffalo chicken tenders with fries/​salad. Both were good. I’d say above average for a theatre restaurant and the drinks/​food both came within a normal amount of time.
The cinema itself is beautiful. In the VIP section, the seats/​sofas recline and has a pull-​across tray for food/​snacks. The sound system in the cinemas are good and the washrooms in the VIP section are all individual unisex washrooms which are the cleanest I’ve been to! The service within the theatres are good — the delivery of the food/​wine/​beers are a tad slower than expected each time… so I guess that’s the new norm. :)

Went to see Star Wars at the VIP at the Queensway. What a great experience.
First nice plush large seats to sit. So nice and comfortabke. Felt luxurous. It has little tables on the side I n which you can swing be in front if you so you can eat.
They have plenty of servers to make you get your food fast and hot. Food came hit and fast.
Food is Good with proper portions. I ordered the Burger and fries. Was satisfied with this meal.
I have given 5 stars because of the overall experience for a movie theater.
NOW ABOUT STAR WARS. DON’T WORRY I WON’T SPOIL IT. IT WAS GOOD.

I did not have a great time with the VIP experience, as the ordering of food and delivery of it can interrupt the movie (not trailers, but movie proper.) That said, I do enjoy this location for regular cinema needs.
Be warned, it’s incredibly busy. I’ve never encountered a theatre that gets this packed this quickly — and the giant parking lot can also fill up fast.
Pro-​Tip: Park near the exit to the parking lot. It means a longer walk to the theatre, but it means you’ll get out in under half an hour.

Finally! A place that comes close to equaling the awesomeness that is the Alamo Draft House, the movie theater for which I compare all other experiences now.
There’s lots of parking at this movie palace, and even artwork in the parking lot. There’s a separate entrance for the VIP part of the theater, and they also have valet parking, which is pretty nice, considering how much you’re paying for your ticket ($ 25 as of this review.)
There’s a nice lobby, with a bar area, where you can get a drink and some nibbles prior to the film. We were not very early, so we went straight to our seats.
There’s food ordering at seatside, but it’s a little bit more clunky than I’m used to. There are only little side tables, and because of the way the theater is set up, you can only order before the film starts. So, it’s still great, but not quite as great as it could be.
The theater is otherwise neat and clean, everything feels new and shiny. The food that they serve is decent but not outstanding, and of course being able to have beer in the cinema is always a great thing.
If I had never experienced Alamo, I would probably give this play 5 stars and wax rhapsodic about it. It’s about the best option you can get that I’ve found so far. Definitely a great place to go to for a special showing.

In the VIP section, I ordered a caprese salad. It wasn’t very authentic — thin crunchy tomatoes vs. beefstock and there was no balsamic (instead some sort of light pesto). It was ‘okay’ but could be much better. So consider this a suggestion.
The drinks were tasty.
Service in the chairs was fun! The burgers were pretty good!

I watched the ‘cheap’ screening (no 3D, no fancy seats) of The Martian last night and a group of young men arrived at the last minute and joined me on the second row. It was obvious they hadn’t paid.
Three quarters of the movie, another young man took a seat beside me on an otherwise unoccupied seat and proceeded to answer texts. I said audibly, «Put your phone away!»
He looked at me and said, «What’s it to you?» I replied, incredulously «IT“S DISTRACTING!» Only because I made a scene did he leave. It’s obvious he didn’t pay for the movie either.
Unless Cineplex starts doing spot checks with security to confirm ticket holders I am never going back. Go to the Revue! No cheap people devaluing the film experience like these freeloaders. Cineplex, for the premium prices — provide premium experience!!!

Separate entrance from the rest of the theatre. When purchasing tickets you get to select your seats. Gorgeous lounge with full service bar. Loved the in seat service before the movie. Felt like we were the only ones in the theatre. Awesome leather love seats with trays for food. Very roomie. For 2 admission, dinner and drinks. $ 100. Not bad for a date night.

Customer service over-​all fairly good, cleanliness can use some work, and prices not horrible (especially with coupons and what-​not).
This is the most convenient Cineplex location for me. I have been lately going quite regularly to the VIP part, which is quite nice. It features nice large seats, where the arm-​rest between the couples seats actually raises so you can literally be shoulder-​to-​shoulder with your darling, seat trays, and wait service before the show starts.
In terms of cleanliness, the washrooms in the VIP section have been smelly just about every time I’ve been there. In the non-​VIP area, I have have situations where the staff seems to have checked the cleaning list off a few minutes prior with one of the items being listed as «paper towels well stocked» while in reality there were no paper towels stocked.
Over-​all though, I find the staff to just about always be rather friendly and mostly-​so accommodating (unless you’re into watching the movie until after the end of the credits, where-​as just about all of the time they will walk in and start cleaning up around you, including walking in front of you). I guess the days of the cleaning staff waiting for you to be out of the theatre before starting to clean are just about over, although it has happened a few times, when there was either no one else there, or almost no one else in the showing with us.
The last time I was there, my 3D glasses were missing from my seat, which is where they are typically found in the VIP. I went to ask the staff for a pair of glasses, and they ended up bouncing me around between several different staff, until eventually I was asked to go back to my seat, and a minute or two later, a pair of 3D glasses were brought to me.
All-​in-​all, I will likely return to this venue. I just hope that they will improve their way of cleaning the washrooms, and what-​not (and yes, I have voiced my feedback to them, so hoping that will have helped).

I’ve been coming to this cineplex for years, but this was my first time in a VIP room. It was fantastic!
I went to see Jurassic World and got the best seats in the room (in my opinion :)) and was able to recline in my seat and see everything perfectly. The seats were comfortable although you really had to work to keep it reclined so that was a bummer. We arrived a little too late for the waiter service, but the idea is so cool. There is a little pull out tray that you can eat from so you don’t just have it in your lap.
I ate in the lounge before the show, and had the California Burger with avocado, arugula and goat cheese. I didn’t know what to expect… usually I’m disappointed by burgers from places that aren’t ‘burger places’ but this one was GREAT! Huge pieces of avocado, lots of goat cheese, and the patty was not overcooked. Now, the fries left much to be desired but they were ok. My friend got the signature salad with shrimp and really enjoyed it… lots of shrimp in this portion.
It took a little while to get our food despite it not being that busy, but you know what, it’s all good, since I could have just taken the meal into the theatre!
Definitely worth the extra $$.

The Queensway Cineplex is my favourite theatre in the GTA. Easily accessible by the 427/​QEW it has plenty of parking options including valet parking ($ 3) on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. The VIP 19+ section is where it’s at, no noisy kids makes for a nice enjoyable and quieter environment. Visit on Wednesday’s to take advantage of the VIP Hump Date deal (2 admission to VIP 19+ theatre and 2 entrees) for a little over $ 50.

VIP is the best option for scene points. I always enjoy going there. Especially because they have steam whistle on tap lol I love the service and super comfy chairs. Even there food is great and reasonably priced considering it’s a theatre :) highly suggest to check it out!

The VIP theaters here have ruined me for cinemas else where.
You’ve got a separate entrance, and a nice lounge to have a drink in and hang-​out before the movie. Once your theater opens you can get food and bar service at your seat till the previews have ended.
The seats themselves are larger, comfier and offer more legroom.
I’m going to have a hard time going back to a cinema that doesn’t have a VIP offering.

The food here is actually quite good. Everything from the Deep Fried Pickles, to the Korean BBQ Boneless Wings, to the Pesto Shrimp Flatbread. Surprisingly one of the better Flatbreads… lightyears ahead of the terrible Beir Markt. So even though you are praying the price, you are getting something for it.

Queensway Cineplex has been my go to cinema for years. There’s a lot of parking but depending on the time of year (say December holidays) this place can be absolutely packed to the point where even the parking near ScotiaBank (literally the furthest possible corner from the main building) is packed. The parking seems to be busy all the time especially since there are a few Cara restaurants on the block as well that share that lot.
You can buy tickets ahead of time online or you can buy them at the automated kiosks in the vestibule or you can get in line and buy them the old fashioned way too.
UltraAVX which is the theater where you actually have assigned seating. This is absolutely an amazing option to have. You can buy your tickets well ahead of time and show up when the previews are done etc. If you picked seats in the middle you just show up. If somebody’s in your seat I’m sure an usher will assist etc. I’ve never seen a dispute over seating in the pre-​arranged seating theaters.
They recently renovated and added the VIP section. While I haven’t been to the VIP area I’ve seen that it’s also reserved seating and it’s adults only and you are serviced where you sit including alcohol and a lounge etc. That’s cool…
The Scene program is free, it’s a frequent rewards program that allows you to get discounts on concessions and when you earn enough points you will get free admissions on movies etc. Scotia has a Scene credit card where you can earn points on that too.
Overall I like this theater. While it can become very busy for première weekends for certain movies there’s always good movies playing with multiple theaters showing the more popular newer movies. The seats are comfy and there is a good amount of leg room too. Cineplex has really changed from way back when their old theaters were at Sherway. Now that AMC is scaled back and Cineplex bought out Famous we really don’t have any other chain cinemas anymore but Cineplex is always improving.
The most affordable food in the theater is anything Tim Horton’s related since it’s close to the real price of the restaurant versus popcorn, nachos, drinks for the other concessions.

This review is for VIP cinemas alone. We were invited by Scene for a special preview for the VIP cinemas at this location. The event was a big success at least in terms of winning me over as a customer who would love to visit the VIP theaters in other locations as well.
What’s so awesome about this theater you ask? It’s the «VIP experience».
First off, you get reserved seating. The seats are designed for couples. They are reclining which makes then wayyy more comfy than the usual seats!
Next, while you are seated you get to order from a special menu before the show starts and the food gets delivered to your seat! We had some fantastic crunchy, fried dill pickles. They were well-​dressed and came with a ranch dipping sauce. The quantity was generous and I couldn’t stop eating them for the rest of the show! We also got the Cheddar cheese sticks but they were very heavy and not too flavourful. I wasn’t too impressed with them. The food however was good for the price. They definitely have more variety than the usual menu of nachos and popcorn. They also have a complete main course and desserts! Oh, and the theatre is licensed so you can also order alcoholic beverages! What more can you ask for?
The service was excellent… I guess that’s why they call it VIP service.
Even the washrooms lived up to the whole experience. They have individual washrooms with a sink in each room… so you don’t have to wait until other people are done washing their hands.
I love the whole concept. The theatre is only 18+ in Ontario. I got free tickets and food at the event but I wouldn’t hesitate in spending from my own pocket the next time I have to see a movie here. It’s totally worth it!
