Just avoid. The first time I went my coworker and I both dropped off bags of laundry. When we picked it up we noticed some of our items had gotten mixed up. Which either means they A) washed them together(I hope not) or B) they just put them in the wrong bag(OK — maybe an honest mistake). I’m just lucky it was my coworker that got my shirts and not someone else! When I picked up my items later that day I paid with my CHIPLESS credit card(corporate card). This detail is important for reasons that will be explained later. Fast forward a week. I go back to drop off another bag of laundry(this time I make sure to count every article that I drop off). Before I leave I grab a bottle of water and hand the cashier my card(the same chipless card I used a week ago) to pay for it. She looked ultimately confused, looked at it for a good while, then informed me that they can’t take cards that don’t have chips… The conversation went something like this: Me: But I just used this card last week. Cashier: We don’t take cards without chips M: What do you mean? I have the receipt right here. *shows her receipt* C: See we have this sign. *points to hand written note taped to the register supposedly saying that they don’t accept cards without chips* M: OK — but I just used it last week. C: We have had this sign for 2 months. She then takes my card and starts swiping in back and forth in the machine rapidly while sarcastically and condescendingly saying, «See, it doesn’t work!». Look — I’m no credit card machine expert, but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work like that. Pretty sure you have to at least press ONE button first. Then again, the guy working in the evening was pleasant and he apparently knew how to make the machine work for chipless cards because I had no problem using the exact same card then. I guess that’s worth 1 star? Maybe just don’t come here in the morning?
