Wait, aren’t you vegan? Believe or not, Beavertails can be made for vegans too! My friend actually originally let me know know because I always walked by and assumed I couldn’t have them. She said the original cinnamon and sugar was vegan-friendly without the butter so that’s what I got and all I can say is yummmmmmmmmm. I emailed the company and found out they had a few more options for vegans: simply ask for no butter: Cinnamon sugar and Killaloe Sunrise, Apple cinnamon with no caramel drizzle or butter, Maple without butter or chocolate and coco vanil without butter or chocolate. You can also get their smoothies without yogurt. I had the Coco vanil tonight without butter or chocolate sauce and it was amazing. I am so excited to find a new place to get a sweet treat.

I’ve tried beaver tails at two different locations, this one and a place in Quebec. The first time was when I was a child in Quebec, and I got the reeses pieces chocolate beaver tail, which was phenomenal. Of course, I was a child which probably meant anything sweet and covered in chocolate and peanut butter was phenomenal to me. This year I tried Beavertails for the first time, and I wasn’t disappointed. I ordered I think the«Avalanche» and it was smothered in cream cheese, topped with maple syrup and chocolate Skors. It was the epitome of sugar, grease, and happiness. Like I remember when I was a child, the beaver tail was soft, moist, and doughy — everything that makes a perfect beaver tail! Not cheap but not overpriced, you get what you pay for. If you haven’t tried this place, definitely give it a chance! You won’t be disappointed with its deep fried goodness.

Delicious!!! Absolutely delicious!!! Never had anything quite like it! It’s like warm apple streusel! Good thing they don’t have these back on Long Island or I’d be 300 lbs! Sooo… Sooo good! :-)

Back again this year and same deal, a great summer treat, especially if you can sit on one of the benches that are nearby and look out over the water. Service is super friendly, if you’re on the walkway/promenade/boardwalk, definitely worth grabbing one and snack and walk.

After over a year of hearing Beaver Tails were great, etc. I finally decided to try one few months ago. I got the Triple Trip, which had hazelnut spread, Reese’s Pieces, and peanut butter. To be honest, I didn’t like it. Maybe it was the flavor I chose and I just didn’t like that flavor, or maybe it was an off day. Regardless, I don’t think I’ll return anytime soon, if at all.

I visited Halfiax on my cruise last year, and I distinctly remember visiting this Beavertails locations. It was my first Beavertail, and it was so absolutely god damn good. Words cannot even describe it, so just try one.

It always feels slightly strange to me to see Beavertails on our waterfront. I suppose this is because I always think of this as a tourist spot, one I always say in PEI. I can’t say I ate there more than once, if that, while on the Island, but I can always see it there on the boardwalk. This must be how visitors to Halifax see our Beavertails location, sitting by the water, the scent of fried dough and powdered sugar rising into the air. There’s usually a crowd by it, especially when one of the cruise ships are in. The toppings here are varied, but my favourite is just plain sugar and cinnamon(I’m not boring, just classic) because that way your can really taste the deliciousness of the dough. This is pretty expensive for basically a longer, flatter doughnut, but it is tasty, and it’s nice to have a treat every so often. You won’t miss much if you miss out on it during a Waterfront trip, but sometimes a craving just hits.

I don’t know if it was an off day, or if I may have chose the wrong combination. Went with the cinnamon style one. so I can’t imagine that was the issue. But it was just awful. the cooking flavor was bland, and stale tasting. Not much else to say. it was just a let down. So much so, when I went to the home of the tail. I didn’t even bother.

Yes its a good place for a quick desert one a long walk at the waterfront. but just a quick desert to try out for once, maybe twice. Beaver Tails is simply a booth that provides a piece of dough(which a year ago seemed to be bigger in size) with various types of topping by your choice. Ranging from cinnamon, chocolate, banana and apple pieces, if your craving some sugar after a long walk down the waterfront on a sunny hot and exhausting day, maybe its a good choice to visit. On the other hand, its is defiantly not something to eat at everyday. It is simply a touristic or summer thing to do !. On a brighter note, their Moozo Smoothies are phenomenal ! MY personal favourite is the Strawberry Banana. Trust me, this is the thing that you need to get from beaver tails. ICE cold, fresh and refreshing in such hot summer weather. I recommend you to try the venue one. And maybe visit once in a while as its not the«wow» place to be all the time, and defiantly not the place to be if you want to be in shape.

Oh Beavertails… you are what you are. This food stand on the waterfront is tourist central so I only partake in the deep-fried dough party once every couple of years. Yes — it’s just deep-fried dough that you top with your favourite combination of seasonings like fruits, sugars, whipped creams and plenty more that are generally just terrible for you. It’s the Canadian churro. When I was a kid, I couldn’t get enough of these. But much like rolling down grassy hills, the grown-up reality never measures up to the memory. The wait time is long and the quality is inconsistent. The last few I’ve had have been overfried making what’s supposed to be a chewy treat a flaky, crunchy mess. I appreciate the institution of it all but it’s just not my fav anymore.

How would I define a BeaverTail? Ooey-gooey deep-fried delicious pastry heaven on a napkin with your choice of topping(s). Yes. They are really that good. The original BeaverTail is simply the pastry itself sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. But for the more adventurous they offer many other flavour options to grace the top of your Tail as well, including Apple Cinnamon, Banana Chocolate(with real slices of banana), and Maple Butter, to name just a few. So eat your heart out. Your waistline may not thank you but your mouth sure will!

I would give this place 5 stars, but alas, as much as I like the Halifax location(conveniently situated on the lively and scenic Halifax Waterfront), it still doesn’t quite compare to the experiences I’ve had in Ottawa. Don’t get me wrong, these pastries are absolutely divine(so bad for you, yet SOOO good!!). I’ve tried virtually every variety of Beavertail, and they are all fantastic(my personal fave: the maple sugar one. VERY Canadian!) For me though, the TRUE Beavertails experience is in O-town, where the Beavertail tradition first began. Nothing beats heading out onto the historic Rideau Canal for skating, and making a pit stop at one of the many Beavertails huts set up along the skating route for a hot chocolate and a tasty Beavertail. That’s the real-deal…

Hotspot central! Calling all pastry buffs– Beavertails will give you something to swoon over. My sister introduced me to this«much loved spot» just recently, and until then, this was a slice of heaven I had gone without. The menu itself proves excitement, as this isn’t your average croissant or toaster strudel. This waterfront eatery offers smoothies, frozen yogurt and a sure selection of interesting pastries. My sister decided on a strawberry frozen yogurt(she said was delish), and I went for the Chocolate Hazel Pastry. Because who knows when I’ll ever be here again… right? Yum. Succulent. Mouthwatering. Fantastic. What else is there to say? The pastry was soft, buttery goodness and the sweet filling/toppings were fresh and liquified. An extravagant treat for sure, but one worth the indulgence. My sweet tooth was quenched, and I may be onto a new once-a-week kick.

Well I think I like walking the waterfront just to get a Beavertails. YUM, There is nothing like the smell of a hot Cinnamon Beavertails hot out of the over drizzled with sprinkled cinnamon. OMG. Now yes there are other tails that you can taste and some of them to me are too sweet. By niece and nephew get one chocolate chips and chocolate and icing. Now I did try it and it was very yummy but a bit too sweet for me. There is nothing like a summer at the waterfront watch the boats and enjoying a Beavertails.

For what it is, you’d never guess the love inspired in the hearts of those who love them. Fried dough with sugar and cinnamon — really, is there anything else to say? Beavertails offers the sublime goodness of grease and sugar, all wrapped up in a delightful beaver-tailed shape of goodness. Beavertails are a must for us when we hit the Halifax waterfront. Although I have one kid who will opt for a slushee instead, the rest of us gravitate to Beavertails like there’s a homing chip implanted in our shoes. As someone else posted in their review, they aren’t the cheapest snack going. But if you’re foregoing lunch, these hit the spot with just the right about of terrible goodness.

A deep fried piece of dough with cinnamon on it. That is all a beaver tail is. It is probably the worst thing you could ever let your body process and yet here I am singing its praises. The Beaver Tail is delicious. And if you step foot in our fair city in the summer time and don’t pick one up, you’re not really living. Trust me, this little shack on the waterfront has the tastiest snack around. Ignore your diet for a few minutes and have a bite, you will not regret it. As I said, I like cinnamon, but there are plenty of toppings and combination to choose from. All of them are wildly unhealthy and ludicrously delicious. Once in a while this is the place to go. Don’t go too often unless you feel like buying pants with a bigger waist, but definitely stop by and taste a genuine Canadian delicacy!

Forget my diet! The reason why you should get yourself a Beavertail can be summed up in one word, «Avalanche.» Pieces of Skors, chocolate drizzle and cream cheese on a pastry. Enough said. But if you need more information then I’ll continue. Basically Beavertails are dressed up pastries. There is a huge variety of Beavertails from classic Cinnamon to the Avalanche and a lot more. However, one of the best reasons to go is so that you can do what we did and trick a friend to believe that these are in fact real Beaver tails. Our friend was from Iceland and it took a few minutes but he bought into our little prank and thought that he was actually eating Beaver tails. We then forgot about the prank until a few months later when he was telling someone else who was new to the country about how he can eat real Beaver tails. We then had to admit we were fooling around. But I highly suggest you try this because its a lot of fun! The staff at Beavertails rank about average. They are generally quite nice and helpful but not overly friendly. Its a tough job I will admit. Or at least it looks that way from where I’m standing. But a smile would be greatly appreciated. If you are new to Beavertails I can’t think of a reason why you shouldn’t try them. I love them and am never disappointed!

If you haven’t had the pleasure of a ‘beavertail’ then you’re missing out on one of the best Canadian delicacies going. Seriously, they’re right up there with fresh salmon, lobsters and maple syrup! First of all, just in case you aren’t aware, a beaver tail is a: whole-wheat pastry that has been deep friend in soy oil, stretched to look like a beaver’s tail, smothered in butter and topped with your choice of delectable toppings. My personal favorite: apples with whipped cream. Disclaimer: Do not be confused by the term ‘whole wheat.’ These are terrible for you. The best time to eat a beavertail is after a day of skiing in Whistler, but a jaunt along the Halifax boardwalk rings a close second. Be sure the check out this little kiosk the next time you’re on the harbour front.
