The amount of shawarma meat and vegetables they give is too little. Can not believe it. I paid $ 18

I heard about this place from my friends. They said«you need to try it» I went there, the place look good the owner and the workers are really friendly. I order a large chicken shawarma. One thing I didn’t like on it, there was not a lot of shawarma in it. I was eating the bread and vegetables it taste good but not enough shawarma …

Looking for a quick, and relatively healthy, food fix before a night shift I headed over to Quinpool to try Shawarma Stop for the first time. Located in the former Extreme Pita location, it has the feeling of wanting to be a chain with a colour palette of red, blue and yellow — consistent with their logo — and an easily replicated décor of simple tables and poster-sized photos of menu items. The dining area was also very clean, and you order and pay at the counter. Their menu is relatively narrow, which was nice to see. Too often local pizza or Mediterranean places put things like hamburgers, fish and chips, and random deep fried appetizers on their menu and you can almost be guaranteed that it’s not good and/or from frozen. Shawrama Stop, however, is nicely focused, with four types of shawarma(chicken, beef, fish and tofu) and a handful of other items like kafta, shish kebab and falafels, and a couple of interesting vegetarian options like grilled haloumi and fried cauliflower. I went for a chicken shawarma platter with rice instead of fries, and tabouli for my choice of salad. There were a few other tables occupied when I came in, but most people were already eating so my food didn’t take long before it was ready for me to grab at the counter. The garlic sauce had a great garlicky kick, which was right up my alley. Triangles of pita with the sauce, chicken and tabouli were damn good. The chicken was hand shaved in front of me and was nicely browned with crispy edges from being finished on the grill. Some of the smaller bits were a tad dry and probably would have been better if they were cut larger and more consistently with the rest. The rice had a noticeable and enjoyable chicken stock flavour and the hummus had a fairly smooth texture and was just shy of being perfectly creamy. The tabouli was nice and fresh and was likely a disaster for my teeth. Service was super friendly, with the cook coming out from behind the counter to check on everyone when things slowed down. All in all, it was a huge plate of really good food, but it didn’t saddle me with the sort of guilt that a burger and fries would. I’ll definitely keep Shawarma Stop in mind when I’m looking for something quick, healthy and delicious.

Had beef & chicken shawarma pita wraps(2 large). — Taste was good(shawarma Halifax scale I’d give it a 7 on taste maybe). There is absolutely no authentic shawarma places in Halifax. The only place that ever made a proper shawarma was sahara on spring garden many years ago. There are plenty of places that make, let’s say, a good/excellent chicken sandwich. It is not a shawarma however. I am comparing to authentic shawarma in the middle-east or even other Canadian cities that do it properly. — The amount of meat in the large sandwich is at best half of what it should be. Here I was taking bites out of a large pita. and half of it was bread with no meat. It wasn’t even spread evenly. So imagine a wrapped pita with both ends being just bread with no meat. Meat in the center maybe covered 60% of the whole wrap and a thin layer at that. I wonder how much meat there is in a regular. — ~$ 22 for two large so called shawarmas and 1 can of pop. So I paid $ 11 for a pita that barely had any meat in it(relative to size). First time customer and haven’t tried anything else there. Most likely will not be going there again.

The food is fabulous and the service is always friendly. I get the tofu shwarma platter with rice, Greek salad and garlic sauce and am never disappointed.

Walked in for my first time, not knowing their hours of operation. I happened to be a half hour early before they opened, but they asked me what I wanted and when I told them just a shawarma, they said no problem. Friendly service and very clean place. The food was great too. They’ve got all the usual ingredients you’d want on a shawarma, plus more. Beef shawarma was cooked just right and the garlic sauce is perfect. I highly recommend Shawarma Stop.

Great service. Good food. Well priced. There is no place in Halifax that has authentic Shawarma but this is the closest thing that I have had to an authentic Shawarma in this city. Their friendly customer is exceptional. You feel good going in and leaving.
