Holy Moly. This Tim Hortons has undergone a major cosmetic overhaul. It has moved locations and now occupies a much larger piece of food court real estate in Scotia Square. I went down at lunch yesterday and it took me a minute to figure out which line I was supposed to stand in.(There were at least 5 separate line-ups on the go, and for the record it appears you can order all things from all lines.) Although its bustling appearance can be a bit overwhelming, the redesign probably has improved efficiency. It looked like there were at least 12 people behind the counter taking/making orders. It’s kind of amazing that there were no employee collisions with so many people working in such a small space, but everything seemed to be under control. It was definitely peak lunch-time rush when I was there, and from lining up to getting my meal it took about 10 minutes, so can’t complain too much about that.

Tim’s has become like the anti-coffee place for me. I have been inundated with Tim’s coffee for 20 years and I am not going to take it anymore!!! Bad start to a review. As much as I detest Tim’s coffee, I will admit that this store does the best it can with the limited size of the shop and the huge number of people that visit there a day. It is never, ever quiet there. There is one lady(Sheena I think) who never gets an order wrong — NEVER! Find her line and cling to it like grim death. Everything tastes — OK. Nothing spectacular. Rumour has it that they are moving to what was once flight centre and PG’s. Hopefully the larger footprint will make for a more smooth experience.

Scotia Square has an abundance of coffee shops; Mama Gratti’s, Second Cup, Starbucks and this small and overwhelmed Tim Hortons. While staff valiantly attempt to appease the raging horde of coffee-addicted zombies, they frequently fail. Lines quickly form that seem reminiscent of Communist Russia with the caffeine-deprived shuffling slowly towards their next fix. While there are a few moments of respite throughout the day, you can rely on a lengthy wait.
