Very pleased with the staff at the tire centre! I had a problem my summer tires I bought there last year, couldn’t stay balanced. I bought them from the Mumford store. The person working there didn’t give me a proper receipt. I went back to this Walmart and they took me in right away and managed to give me a new set and balanced them for free! Great job guys! Thank you!

This the old standard for Walmarts in Halifax. The original for me. I have lessened my hatred of all things Walmart and recognized it for what it is. a shift in the way the world does groceries and the low prices simply can’t be beat in a lot of cases. This Walmart has a pretty standard set up. the staff are great in helping out and for the most part are in good spirits.

Seriously?! How can two Wal-marts BOTH have no safety pins? GROWLS.

I was pretty happy to see the expanding grocery section, and at prices probably close to half of what you would pay at the grocery store next door. Some of the generic products they carry look a little rough around the edges though, if you ask me. The quality of the stuff just doesn’t look quite up to par. But then again that may all just be in the way products are presented and«choreographed» for lack of a better word. Some of those cheap non branded food items with the almost blank packaging still just makes me feel like I’m in some Orwellian dystopian alternate reality(or moving fast in that direction!)

So I’ve been to this Walmart many of times throughout my years living in this province, and well, it is Walmart and the prices are fair! But I wanted to check out the grocery super centre that I had been hearing so much about. I live in Dartmouth, and the Dartmouth Crossing Walmart renovation is not complete yet. First off, I really hate the parking lot at this Walmart, it is so awkward! Also, the entrance area of this Walmart is so tiny. Anyways, once inside, I ventured to the grocery section. First thoughts were: «weird placement,» and«oooo $ 5.00!» The section right by the check-outs consists of vegetables, fruits, bread, and some meats. A pack of 4 chicken legs(with the thigh attached) was $ 5.00, and so that went in my cart, as did a large pack of sweet italian turkey sausages for $ 5.00(which ended up not tasting that good)! I also got a loaf of yummy looking focaccia bread, as well as avocadoes(a bag for $ 4.99). Next I ventured to the actual designated meat section. I was a bit confused by this section though because the prices on the chicken(in particular bonless, skinless) were terrible, $ 20+ for 4 – 5 pieces of chicken breasts, seriously? The prices on the steaks were not that good either. However, they had packs of pre-seasoned pork loins, and steaks for $ 5.00 which I purchased(and they tasted pretty darn good). I also picked up my soy milk which is almost $ 1.00 cheaper here. The hot dogs that I enjoy on occasion(turkeyball) are much cheaper here as well. All in all, I will definitely shop at the super centre more often once it opens in Dartmouth. There are some good deals, and I certainly like saving some money when I can!

There are some things that are always cheaper at Walmart. There are even some things only available at Walmart. Therefore I regularly find myself in this Walmart, even though I’d much, much rather not go anywhere near the place. This two-star rating is actually a compliment; the Mumford Road location is such a cess-pit it makes the Bayers Lake location look positively gleaming. So Mike and I brave the mobs every few weeks to pick up a few things here. I think the only time it’s not busy is Monday morning. But not as soon as they open; after the early-morning wave has subsided. Otherwise? Madness. Long lines. Screaming kids. Old ladies trying to mow you down with their shopping cart. Cashiers have always been friendly and efficient; same with the pharmacists. It’s just the overall Walmart Experience: frustration, exhaustion, impatience, dirty aisles and messy shelves. This location is just less dirty and messy than the Mumford Road location. Still … they do have good prices.

This Walmart location is definitely not the closest to where I currently live. In fact as far as locations in the HRM go, I think this one is probably the furthest from me. Ok, Walmart is what it is. It sucks and its wonderful all at the same time. So, I’ve been on the hunt for stuff for my new place. After trying the Dartmouth Crossing location with not much luck I found myself at this store. And low and behold I found what I had been looking for. This store just seems to have a better selection and more offerings. Or maybe the others do too, but the way they’re laid out makes it difficult to find what you’re looking for? I swear I wandered the DC store for what seemed like hours on different occasions and couldn’t find what I wanted, but one quick trip to the BL store I found exactly what I had wanted. Again, Walmart is what it is. If I had been able to find what I was looking for/wanted at a local/Canadian store for a comparable price I probably would have made my purchase there instead. However, these guys had what I wanted and at the price point I wanted so I went with them.

This is not the closest Walmart to me, but when we are doing some shopping out in Bayers Lake, I usually stop in there. This store seems to have more stock or just more of a variety than some other stores. I can’t say I have ever had a bad experience, but nothing has ever stood out for good customer service. But usually when I am at Walmart, I know exactly what I am looking for, so don’t really need help with anything.

What the heck happened? I saw an odd, almost inexplicable thing today as I went to buy some Cold-FX, I have a cold, at Wal-Mart. The staff there were very friendly, extremely helpful and professional. I then walked outside to check the sign and was astonished to find out that I was indeed in Wal-Mart. I can’t tell you what happened but the majority of the staff that work there are now extremely friendly, helpful and polite. Now Wal-Mart can be considered by some to be a great big evil in the world. But I am fine with it. I adhere to David Suzuki’s philosophy of work with them, not against them to make it all better. So that being said, I am very pleased to find big improvements in this Wal-Mart when it comes to their staff. Their products still have very good, competitive pricing and this Wal-Mart in particular is larger than others and has a great store layout and selection. So stop on by Wal-Mart in Chain Lake Drive because it has shocked me with its improved service. Definitely worth its own star, making this review a strong four out of five.
