Great experience with the service and the food was really good too. The servers were friendly and polite, and the food came out very quickly. We went on Valentine’s Day on a whim and they gave us a Valentine’s themed cookie and a rose — very nice touch :) Would have given 4.5 stars if halves were an option :)

Worst sushi restaurant ever. I went there last week, the only food I found acceptable is tempura. The service is good, that’s why I give it two stars.

Delicious for Hamilton. One of the best AYCE sushi places in Hamilton, especially near McMaster University. I am a master student in MAC so most weekend time we can come here to have a meal together with numerous choices in Hotaru. My favorite is that here is the only AYCE Sushi in Hamilton which you can enjoy snow crab legs and lobster. However in other restaurant these are more expensive. I like seafood but I am a poor student. So Hotaru is my best choice. I recomend here to people who love seafood like me :)

Worst oysters and salmon sashimi ever… the owner’s attitude was so terrible when we complained about the oysters and insisted on charging us for the oysters we couldn’t finish… he even refused to give us 5%discount when we show him our student cards, this is not acceptable… generally the taste was just on average and nothing was really special, service was not bad tho

Came here around 2:45pm for a late lunch. Although it was basically empty we were seated around 10 minutes of wait time. I suppose both the staff that were working were busy. When we were seated, the Japanese waitress apologized and was super nice about it. Lunch prices:(11am to 3:30pm) Adult :$ 14.99 Seniors(65+): $ 12.99 Children(4 – 12) $ 10.99 Children(3 and under): Free. Dinner prices(whole day) Adult: $ 24.99 Seniors: $ 19.99 Children $ 14.99 Children(3 and under): Free Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Statuatory Holiday is Free. We were given an ipad to make our order. We came in for a super late lunch, so the waitress kindly reminded us that we needed to put in our order by 3:30pm. Food came fairly quickly. The rice pieces weren’t extremely sticky and a little loose still on some sushi pieces, though I felt a small improvement from KASA sushi. The fish didn’t taste very fresh, but still average sushi. I would give this place a 2.5 star for the food quality, but the waitress was really nice, so I decided to bump it up to 3 stars. My friend and I decided to order way more than we can finish, and decided to take the rest of it home. It was $ 2 for a small styrofoam container and you can put all the remaining pieces inside.

Surprising to see sushi buffet would offer seafood like lobster and oysters. The quality and freshness of seafood wasn’t 100% perfect, but sushi were definitely tasty

We wouldn’t consider ourselves AYCE Sushi aficionados but, well, you know… So… hear us now and believe us later: Hotaru Sushi in the West(est) End is, hands down, the best AYCES place in Hamilton. Snow crab legs and lobster for a price that is typical of most AYCE places without these crustaceans on their menus? Oh snap, indeed… And the service? Outstanding, truly. You gotta get down to Hotaru… ’nuff said.

Food tasted great, and the service was fast. The lunch selection is pretty good, and has most of the special rolls you would want. They use iPad menus which helps. Definitely an improvement over Kasa, the interior is exactly the same(still has the same polaroids hung up) but the quality and service has improved. Not exactly the best in Hamilton but definitely a good choice if you want to eat near campus. Tip: Dont let the pic fool you, spicy chicken teriyaki is just chicken with sriracha.
