Meh, dropped by one morning after breakfast for some treats. Picked up a chocolate-dipped shortbread cookie and what was advertised as a macaron. Cookie was good, but nothing to write home about. But rather than biting into a fluffy, merengue-filled macaron, I struggled to sink my teeth into the hard, sugary shell of a candy-cookie. False advertising at its finest. Too bad, this place looks like it has some great reviews.

Great atmosphere– this place is always packed; always a good sign for restaurants. I’ve had their breakfast and fresh donuts. Food was great, but the donut was amazing. Coffee is free refills and fresh. The set up is that you order then sit down, eat then pay. Very relaxed atmosphere, and feels very cozy.

The first time I went here it was by accident while driving by on the 401. It is a wonderful place for lunch. The bakery items are amazing as well.

If you pass by Kingston drop in. Monster sized portions and a help yourself bakery. Fritters the size of a toddlers head and scrumptious homemade fruit pies. Warm friendly service with an old school feel. Bottomless coffee for the drive back to Ottawa or Toronto.

Loved the cookies, i liked there $ 14 combo meal(sandwich, drink & sweet), the sandwich was little too oily and on the salty side for me. The place can handle little more care.

We happened upon this wonderful place by accident. In our ignorance we didn’t realize that many businesses would be closed. We literally went door to door to find lunch and as soon as I opened the door, I knew we had to eat dessert – er…lunch here. I ate what my daughter couldn’t finish(cheeseburger) and I think Canadian beef is just plain tastier than American. It was delicious. The lunch special came with a side of either regular fries, home fries(or country potatoes, if you’re from my neck of the desert), coleslaw or potato salad. It also came with a drink and a dessert of your choice for $ 13.99CAD. So about those desserts… wow. All the bake sale favorites are featured – cookies, cupcakes, doughnuts, bars, and my personal favorite, haystacks. Oh those heavenly healthy mixtures of hearty oats, coconut and chocolate goodness, they called right to me. I’m sort of happy this place is about 6000 miles from home because I might just want to come back a few times a week.

It’s been a while since I gave out a 5-star, but Fardella’s is getting one. I found them on Unilocal,as I looked for a restaurant close to another store we wanted to go to. So glad I did. We walked in and the owner gave us a very sincere greeting, asking us if it was our first time in. When we said yes, he told use the ‘rules’ — coffee is included and self-served, cutlery is there, tell the cook what you want, he’ll cook it and bring it over. The ‘rules’ were easy. Thanks! We figured out what we wanted, ordered — and were advised(warned?) that the pancake was huge.(How big can a pancake be?) I had read about the apple fritter, so arranged to split one with hubby. Spotted a sausage roll and had to have one. Breakfast arrived. The pancake is huge. *Huge*. No exaggeration, I estimated it at 8 to 9 inches around and over an inch thick. I was there with some champion eaters. I know they could have done it, eaten the whole thing. We were however on the way to an Easter Weekend feast being prepared by another family. We can’t show up full! I had to put a stop to the eating. We managed to eat all of the rest of our breakfasts, but we(unwillingly) left about ½ of each pancake. Here’s what I loved: — The owner and his staff — The apple fritter.(Honestly I wanted to detour on the way home and get another one. I will dream about this apple fritter for weeks to come.) — The breakfast(without the pancake) — awesome home fries, perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon. — The pancakes. Wonderful — but you may want to split it with at least one other person — or order a child sized pancake instead. The Hockey Nook(comfy chairs, flat screen TV and hockey paraphernalia. If I was by myself, this is where I’d sit to eat my fritter.) They make everything from scratch in-house and it shows. We will be stopping by this place every trip through Kingston — and I’m going to keep in mind that they have all-day lunch — and take-out. Would I recommend: Yes, worth the short detour off the 401. Would I return: Yes. Apple Fritter, here I come! P. S. — Coffee was good too. :-)

Found this little gem through my trusty Unilocal app! I grew up in Kingston but for whatever reason had never been here before. This place was very cozy and definitely had some regulars dining there. The big screen TV had the good old hockey game on — it really does feel like you are at someone’s house. I ordered a ham sandwich and daily soup, cream of mushroom. Bae ordered the turkey club with fries and gravy. Love that you get to choose a sweet treat with your«meal deal» as well. The sandwiches were freshly made and delicious. The BF had REAL sliced turkey breast on his sandwich, YUM! Fries were on point and the gravy was very tasty. Soup was super flavourful and warming. The showstoppers though were their giant homemade apple donut and the peanut butter chocolate brownie OMG I died twice. If I had my way, I would have purchased one of every treat ;) Will absolutely return next time I come home to visit!

A friend brought me here for breakfast while I was in town visiting for a week. Don’t let the strip mall exterior fool you, this is GOOD food. We both had the baked French toast(the best French toast I’ve ever had, anywhere) and a side of homefries. The portions are large and everything was delicious. They also have a huge selection of freshly baked pastries, pies, cookies, breads, etc. The prices were very reasonable($ 18 for breakfast for two incl. coffee and juice) and the staff are friendly. Highly recommended!

We came here for Sunday brunch, not quite sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. When you first walk in, you’re greeted by a ton of baked goods and the smell that goes with them. Perfect when you’re already hungry. It’s the kind of place where you take a seat, look at the menu, then go order from the cook himself. The food was brought to us in around ten minutes. We got scrambled eggs, French toast and ‘double-decker grilled cheese.’ No complaints about the food. They’ve got a TV and some comfy chairs too, if you’re planning on staying awhile.
