Went here on Valentine’s Day, had a reservation for 6:30. Restaurant was not very busy. Had one server working and the cashier was sitting on the bench for take out customers eating watching while everyone else worked. We were seated and the waitress walked by us about 5 – 10 times not even so much asking what we wanted to drink. This was terrible service and I will never go back. We got up and left and nobody even batted an eye. Ridiculous. If you know it’s going to be a special occasion or day maybe have more servers on, or have the other staff help. That waitress should not work in the service industry she was downright rude and unpleasant. Please hire better servers!

We were visiting Watertown, NY and drove up to eat here. The service was awesome! I had the chicken vindaloo and the spice level was perfect. They kept us in water which my husband adored. FYI, rice does not come with your entrée but only one per table is necessary really. As noted in the menu, food does take time to arrive but it is worth the wait.

This place is delicious. The service is impeccable. The ragan josh, palak mattar paneer, chicken jalfrezi, beef madras was fantastic. And the naan, best in the land. This is the best Indian place in Kingston.

We decided to try Saber’s Taste of India after reading all the favorable reviews on Unilocal. It was an excellent decision. Pros: — As usual, we arrived early and pretty much had the place to ourselves — this meant we had our food in no time flat. — Dinner for two was an excellent choice; sometimes it’s nice not to have to worry about choosing appetizers, entrees, etc. With that being said, there’s certainly lots to choose from on the menu. — Great price for the amount of food we received. As another reviewer noted, there’s lots here and some ended up becoming a snack for the next day. Yum! — We were pleasantly surprised by the appearance of Saber himself at the end of our meal — he’s a very friendly, personable fellow(and one hell of a cook!). It made for a nice touch. Cons: — None. Very happy to know that there’s a great Indian restaurant close to home!

Ate here for the first time yesterday. Have eaten at downtown Curry Original several times, which I really enjoy. By comparison, I found the food ate Saber’s to be very good to excellent. Saber appears to use slightly less heat & sweet for equivalent dishes, but the servings appear to be larger as well. Overall, excellent balance of flavours. The fact that they advertise $ 0 corkage fee is awesome. Overall, better value than Curry Original(CO) primarily because of corkage and slightly larger portions. Ambiance at CO is nicer though, but that fact that Saber comes out and speaks with each table is in my opinion first class. I will be back(on a regular basis)!

Of the few Indian restaurants in Kingston, this is the best I’ve found so far. My favourite dish to order at Indian restaurants is mutter paneer, and I noticed it wasn’t on their menu. They did have palak mutter paneer, but not just mutter paneer. I asked and they kindly made it for me. The mutter paneer didn’t have much taste, but I’ll chalk that up to it not being a normal item on their menu. The other dishes were pretty good, though. I tried a couple of their normal vegetarian curries: channa masala and paneer jalfrezi. The channa masala was pretty spicy and different from what I’m used to. It had chunks of tomato and green pepper. I like it. The paneer jalfrezi was very interesting. I hadn’t tried a dish like this before but all of the different peppers and veggies made it pretty tasty. I normally prefer creamier dishes, so I don’t think I’d get the jalfrezi again. As for everything else, the pastry for the vegetable samosas was really great, but the peas and carrots inside kind of tasted like they came from a bag of frozen vegetables. The onion bhaji was nothing special. It was kind of tough, and not very crispy. Maybe they prepare them in advance or something.

Just moved to Kingston and this is our favourite restaurant! Exceptional dining experience — we just ask the chef to cook what he wants for us and he delivers amazing dishes every time. The service is equally deserving of the highest praise. Overall the best that Kingston has to offer.

The food is to die for… I ate my favorite Dhansak after 3 years!!! The food was amazing and I will make sure I travel to Kingston on days and time that ‘Saber’s Taste of India’ is open.

Great service, amazing food, good prices. They offer a 10% takeout discount, which is awesome. With a picky 2 year old, takeout is the norm(then I can give her a sandwich if necessary). However, with most veg dishes under $ 10, and most meaty stuff around $ 13-$ 15, the prices are reasonable, and you get some large portions. They also have a few different«meals» for two, under $ 50. Really, there is enough food for 3 – 4 people, which makes it a great value. The uptown Curry Original used to be my Indian food of choice when visiting family in K-Town. Although I was surprised to see the name change during my latest visit, I’m happy to see that the quality is the same — perhaps even better. I’ll definitely return to Saber’s.

Very good Indian food at fair prices. Biryani was a bit too sweet; other dishes were excellent. They seem to be non-Hindus as they serve beef. Yogurt is homemade. Service was attentive if a bit jittery. Located in a small strip mall in the far western part of Kingston.

(This used to be the Uptown Curry Original location; it just recently changed names.) Oh my. This place. This place is what curry-flavoured dreams are made of. I went here for a birthday dinner with friends last week. There were six of us; we all ordered a different dish and then shared among each other. I ordered the Bombay Aloo, which was delicious and perfectly spiced. A friend ordered Saag Lamb, another ordered Vegetable Curry, another Chicken Tikka Masala, another Butter Chicken, and Pineapple Chicken. Every single dish was mouth-watering delicious. The Butter Chicken, especially, stood out. Wonderfully sweet and oh soooo buttery. For the six of us, we got three orders of boiled rice and three orders of naan bread. It was not enough naan. I would merrily eat myself into a coma with that stuff. Oh, and the birthday girl received a free glass of wine! Service was friendly and funny, though perhaps a little slow. Saber himself came out and greeted us warmly and made sure we were enjoying our meals. What a great place. Without a doubt, the best place in Kingston for Indian food.
